Question Fishing trip in November with my dad. South Lake. No boat.

Hi, I am taking my dad on a fishing trip next month and I was wondering if anyone had any areas to recommend, streams or rivers work too. And also, what sort of pole/bait/lure would be most successful up here.

Second week of November, both me and my father are fit and don’t mind getting wet, however we don’t have a boat and don’t plan on using a boat. Willing to hike to any nearby lakes too if anything around the South Lake Tahoe area has fish. We can’t travel too far from South Lake as my sister has a home we are actually working on here and can’t go too far away. Really has to be the South Lake Tahoe region and any small lakes or rivers on that side.

God bless and thank you!

Question Best restaurant with at least a couple of vegetarian options

Two friends who live in South Lake Tahoe recently got married. I'd love to send them a gift card to a restaurant. Budget not an issue. She's a vegetarian so I want her to have options wherever it is. Any recommendations? Thanks!

Question Mt. Rose or Diamond Peak in January for Beginners

I'm trying to decide between Mt. Rose or Diamond Peak in January (10th-12th) to take my kids skiing/boarding for the first time. Staying in Incline area.

Mt. Rose has a great deal for 2 day lessons all-inclusive and a higher elevation so maybe better/more snow? I have heard the drive up might be sketchy though?

Diamond Peak is closer and seems like it might be good for lessons/beginners, but I am a little concerned about the lower elevation earlier in the season and snow coverage.

I want to lock down lesson reservations well in advance so I want to make the call soon - any insight would be awesome thanks!

Question Knight Monsters game and TTD

Does the TTD only drop off at the event center Thursday - Saturday as the website says? I’m taking my 4 year old to his first game Sunday and wondering the best option for parking or park and take the TTD

Question New Years Weekend or MLK Weekend?

I am planning to take my kids skiing for the first time (including lessons) and my options are the weekend after NYE (so Jan 2 and 3, Saturday and Sunday) or MLK Weekend. I am thinking Mt. Rose, or maybe Sierra. I understand the likelihood of crowds but is one of those weekends better than the other? I don't want my kids to be intimidated by a massively packed mountain, but we can't go during the week. Help!

Hot Take Cops on 50 in Glenbrook/New ALPR

Bear with me here. The police activity today in the Glenbrook area is out of control. They are hiding at the post office taking speeds. There were no workers present - just miles of cones.

These cops are usually sassy at best, but honestly this seems like a new low. (I did not get a ticket by the way it was just the police presence that set me off this morning.)

Additionally yesterday I notice workers erecting a new license plate reader at Zephyr Cove. How is it we are okay with this increasingly authoritarian state imposing itself on the community?

Question Bears & vehicles

I travel out of my SUV around California and am getting a cabin in Tahoe for the week. I'm gonna remove all food and scented items from my car during my stay, but do I need to be worried that because I essentially live out of my SUV, there may be old crumbs or spilled toothpaste in places that may attract a bear? I KNOW there are crumbs in places I cannot reach, and I know bears are in hyperphagia now. I know I'm paranoid, but this SUV is basically my home, and if a bear destroyed it I'd be devastated. I have friends whose cars have been broken into here, but they left the odd granola bar and such. So I wasn't sure about residual smells or crumbs... Thanks

Question Best Engagement Spot near The Edgewood Hotel!

Hi! I was wondering if you guys had any input on a really great engagement spot near The Edgewood Hotel. It needs to be private!

We're driving from Incline Village to have dinner at The Bistro at Edgewood next week, and I'll be proposing prior to that. If there's anywhere along the way as well that has a really great view of the lake that's very scenic and great for pictures that would work too! I plan on proposing around sunset time. Really appreciate any of your help!

Question Looking for Roaming Dessert Cart

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hello! I am hosting an event and looking for a roaming dessert service (cannolis, churros, ice cream sundaes in that order of preference). Does anyone know if there’s a vendor in the Reno/ Tahoe area that offers this service? Pic for context. I’ve searched high and low on Google and haven’t found much. Thanks!

Question Carlos and Tony Rodriguez from Fremont, CA

I was wondering if anyone knew these guys. They worked for me at the Fremont Brewing Company in Fremont CA in the 90s. I saw Tony once at a breakfast joint in downtown Truckee about 20 years ago. I loved these guys and want to see what they're up to. A longshot, I know, but I'm drunk and am having a memory episode.

If you live in the City of SLT and are concerned about the herbicide spray plan (which could begin as soon as October 2027), this video is for you. It gives a sense of where 10 of the 13 City Council candidates stand on the issue.
