Who actually pays when the failed warranty part comes from a supplier?
A warranty claim might end when the dealer or customer gets paid, but for the OEM, that might only be the first half of the process.
If the failure traces back to a third-party component, there’s still the question of supplier responsibility and recovering the cost of that claim. That means connecting the original claim to the failed component, documenting the failure, determining responsibility, managing the return if needed, and getting the recovery back from the supplier. At scale, I can see how quickly that gets complicated, especially when claims, returns, supplier information, and failure data aren't all living in the same place.
For anyone working in warranty, what does supplier recovery actually look like after the original claim is closed?
