Hello again folks, I am back again with one final reminder of the upcoming Movie Monster themed meetup for Halloween. All are welcome, but themed characters are suggested. The plan is to socialize, run TFOs, and spooky campaign missions!

Again the theme is movie monsters. That could be Dracula, Frankenstein('s monster), or The Mummy. To newer creatures like the Babadook or the creature from Jeepers Creepers.

So, I'll preface with I'm sorry if I'm drawing attention to something someone finds super fun - but does anyone else find the Maverick WAAAAYYYY too fast? At 40 base engine power, 75 boosted with gear - I'm running 276.1 Dynamic Frontier space set, Elite fleet sustained protomatter warp core. 276.1 at full throttle, 757 evasive maneuvers, 578 full impulse. I can't keep guns on anything. Similar tests in the pilot scout ship and raisers give me 120ish full throttle, 200is full impulse.

The Augmented Gorn Bridge Officers claimed on Starfleet characters have access to Starfleet uniforms, but do not have access to the usual colour palettes to match. They seem to still have the Klingon one, even on Starfleet uniforms.

Loading presaved uniforms on them matches as best as possible, but the colours are just different enough to be noticeable, especially on engineering.

Don't mistunderstand the purpose of This post, I am not slighting any players for using cool area of effect shit, which is always hard earned and fun, but holy hell, the visuals are breaking my eyes and brain.

I was playing the autumn event (which honestly, drives me f**kin potty at the best of times) but I literally cannot see what Im trying to aim at most of the time!!

I just really wish there was an option to turn off or even down other players visual effects in TFOs

The video was tonight, and the neurospicy brain in my head visibility recoiled like someone had "turned on the big light"!

• Do you ever think STO would do some kind of player housing?

Obviously I am not talking the entire ship interior, but I think being able to completely customize my Captains Stateroom would be cool, making it truly feel like my space.

By housing I mean Captains Quarters and better interiors, more realistic dimensions, etc.

For some context, I've played a lot of f2p games, plenty of MMOs, and I'm a lifelong TCG player, so basically I'm no stranger to a somewhat dubious monetization scheme. However looking at the Zen store is EYE-WATERING! $40 for a sword?? Ship bundles for MULTIPLE HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS??? Shit I've only been playing for about a month and I've already put in almost $100 between, starter bundles, Fed Klingon unlock, a captain race change token, a Lexington, and some pack keys.

I know the vets know how to get around most of this stuff between the exchange and ship tokens( i didn't know you could get those from anything but a pack until yesterday), but how do the long time players of this game feel about the prices this game tries to get people to pay, and is there anyway for the prices to simply be less off putting?

I do live by the mentality that I should support the people that make what I consume, so I didn't mind spending the money in the moment, but thinking back on it the price tags were ridiculous. You can pull out examples like star citizen, but this one the highest cost monetization models I've ever seen on the face of it, not knowing about the player economy. While I respect the position from long time players I do gotta ask, what is a new player, who didn't google anything, supposed to do, Genuinely?

Every article or post I can find online talks about getting Fleet Mod ships as if it's an obvious process, and I feel like an idiot because I can't figure it out. Could someone please tell me exactly how/ where to go to research the Fleet Mod ships? My starbase is Tier 4 and my Military branch is Lvl 5.

I just got the ability from the Lockboxes and I’m not entirely sure how it works. I know on the wiki and in the description it says when the ship should be destroyed but every time I’ve used it, the capture effect doesn’t seem to trigger.

Please tell me if I’m doing something wrong.

It's the strange new worlds version of the wrath of khan Monster maroon uniforms. it's a different take on that uniform that I honestly like.

As the jackets thinner and less wooly looking, its trousers are tight fitting instead of tucked (looks like the 2259 trousers), and it has that department texturing down the sleeves that snw has, Also, it looks like it wears the same boots too (2259 ones).

Oh, and please forgive the pics it's the best full body ones I could find 😂😂

Why do people consider this a "meh" ship but love the Terran Lexington? They are both so similar. 4/4 layout with miracle worker seating. I have both and functionally they seem like the same ship.

I had Eugenia take her old dress reds from the long ago out of mothballs (SFA class of 2268, a classmate of Chekov, as all of our TOS characters are, of course), and lit a torch. Three people joined me for a few minutes. A much smaller tribute, to be sure, but it felt good to do it.

A group of us got together this evening on DS9 and held absent friends’ torches high in remembrance.

I saw a few people mention it on discord and tried it myself and Universal completed when I killed Squamous during Partisans(3rd mission in the Klingon Civil War arc)

idk how long this has a been thing but it means you don't need to waste time in the Dyson ground zone anymore

Back again to share another captain, and trying out a new format. This is my Disco alt, and you might have noticed his name is a super-duper subtle anagram of "Control". When I made him, I had already decided to give him the backstory of being a remnant of the Control program that survived inside a former Section 31 officer and got displaced in time when Discovery leapt into the future. I hadn't fleshed out much more than that, but it was the basis for theming the alt.

Accordingly, the ship is a Section 31 Intel Science Destroyer. I went with a DEWSci build for it because with Surgical Strikes, you can get away with staying in Science mode the entire time. I can't say I miss the experimental weapon very much. I went with a tactical career to tie into Control's original programming, but I belatedly realized a Science officer would've had Photonic Fleet. I had already put too much effort in though. And the Need-to-Know Basis trait scratches that itch. Also part of the theme is the entirely cyborg/android/photonic bridge crew. I had some fun making the engineering boff look like Gein from the What Lies Beneath mission.

Because I wanted to do the silly thing with his name, I looked around for an era-appropriate alien to justify an odd-sounding name. The Betelgeusians were great because they had ties to the original series as well as Discovery. I tried my best to bridge the gap between the two versions, and I even got the name close to the one for the Kelvin-esque TNG version.

To those of you that answered my call for tribute and came out to Starfleet Academy #1 on PC.
