Here are my gem darkner designs so far! Basically, their gems were corrupted by the dark world and they took on new forms made of darkness instead of light!
The dark world has different effects on each gem, corrupting them in unique ways. The darker the darkness, the more volatile the corruption!
-
The most monstrous corrupted gems roam in the deepest, darkest areas of the sanctuary..

Will be posting Garnet soon, and aiming to reveal Jackenstein on Halloween!! 🎃

I had a sudden burst of inspiration to draw this fusion after seeing u/janethedumbfurry ‘s post.
Admittedly, it’s been a long time since I’ve seen the show or Aquamarine.

Hello!
Long story short, this simply needs a new home with kind energy. It isn't meant to stay with me. I've had it since 2016. I am not wanting ANY money for this. I repeat, I'm offering this for free. I reside in the Cleveland Ohio area and am first hoping if anyone in this sub is from here, I could get it to you a lot easier and no shipping needed.
However, if it needs to be shipped, I'm hoping someone wouldn't mind covering that part. It is framed and all (as seen). The art and such may have been a few hundred with all said and done when I originally got it (just to indicate what the value is if anyone's interested but the frame isn't some top tier thing either).
I just really want to get this into the hands of someone that will love this and give it a nice home. It would mean a lot to me (and the other party that it was connected to).
If interested, I am more than willing to unwrap it and take more photos. Roughly 35" H x 24". 1" depth.
EDIT: CLAIMED PENDING

Given that fusions are named after gems that do exist in a non-fusion capacity as well, it's interesting that this toxic relationship called themself Malachite.
Like Garnet calls herself Garnet because she took up a leadership position, wanted to be the kind of gem others could actually look up to unlike the other "real" garnets. What do we think the role of malachites was such that Lapis and Jasper would associate them with conflict, entrapment, causing pain, etc?
My initial idea would be they're jailers/torturers. But gem society is so harsh already that I doubt there are very many cases where it would be decided that a gem needs to be tortured rather than just bubbled or shattered. Then again, maybe such a role was seen as required in their treatment of 'organics' on planets they were colonizing 🤔

Steven simply defeating another villain, but I think the wider universe still had so much potential after that conflict was resolved.
The original story was largely about Steven discovering the truth about his mother, the Gems, and the world he inherited. Once those mysteries were answered and the Diamonds started changing, the series had an opportunity to explore what rebuilding that society actually looked like.
That's one reason I find characters like Lars and Emerald interesting. Their connection to space travel opens up possibilities beyond Beach City and the familiar Crystal Gems. There could have been more stories about the consequences of the old empire, the Gems who struggled to adapt, and the people whose lives didn't immediately improve just because the Diamonds changed their minds.
I appreciate that Steven Universe Future explored the emotional aftermath for Steven himself, but I still think the larger setting could have supported another season with a different focus.
Defeating the main villain doesn't mean every interesting conflict in the world has been resolved. Sometimes the aftermath is where a fictional universe has the most room to grow.
I'd have loved more stories about the wider Gem civilization and the characters who were only briefly explored, rather than simply repeating the original formula with a bigger threat.

My headcanon is that some of the newly freed Pearls didn't want to stop singing and dancing (which they were forced to do for their owners) but wanted to do it on their own terms so they became Homeworld's first pop and rock stars. Essentially taking something that was once used to subjugate them and turning it into something to empower them.

this is one of those random thoughts i have.
so in steven universe gems are magical human beings and i wonder how jewelry works in this universe. there's not much jewelry in the show, and the accessories are probably made of metal or smth, not gems. even in garnet's wedding the rings are just plain colors.
also this is my first post so it might be shitty
in lapis's case, she was poofed and was shoved to the back of a mirror. i think thats the case for gems in jewelry. they dont have consciousness when they are on the thing and cant get out if they want to. probably poofed and was then found by someone and turned into some kind of ring or necklace. they're stuck there forever until someone pulls them out like how steven pulls lapis out. basically torture. and lets say the gems are not that perfect circular like how they're drawn in the show, and gems are cut with lazers to get the perfect size and shape. so are the gems on the jewlery all shards, since they're not fully intact. i also dont think people outside beach city know about the gems, so people outside the city collect jewels and make accessories out of them. thats also why we dont see much jewelry in beach city. and are they gemstones below the earth without homeworld's implantation. and if there are, are they underneath the earth or in walls of canyons, like the kindergarten. can they burst out of the ground like they do in the kindergarten, and will they become their true forms when dig out. or the earth's crystals are different from the gems in homeworld, that they arent humanoids and possess supernatural powers. it could be the case cuz the earth didnt have gems before the homeworld implanted them from the earth's resources.
or maybe they are gems from homeworld and people only uses metal for jewelry and glowsticks like steven.
