Hey guys, I'm looking to commission a relatively simple, reusable vector graphic for a sci fi wargame rulebook I've been working on. The best way I can describe what I need is basically a frame for the rules tables.
What I'm looking for:
A decorative outer frame with a clearly defined space for a table heading, Some appropriately science fiction/cyber looking corners, borders, and other small decorative elements, A modular design that can accommodate tables of different widths and heights without distorting the artwork, Black and White coloring, SVG deliverables with the individual components separated so I can manipulate them in Affinity.
The important part is that I'm only commissioning the decorative framework. The actual contents of the tables will be handled using Affinity's table tools. So pretty much I'll be putting the picture of the table down on the page, and then inserting the internal contents, cells, and fonts where they need to go. The frame needs to accommodate different widths and heights without distorting its decorative elements. Ideally, the corners and borders would be separate components that I can resize or reposition independently
I'm deliberately leaving the artistic interpretation fairly open. So long as it looks broadly science fictiony, is readable, and can be resized without looking silly, I'm happy. Some neat Artistic references include Keegan Chua's Alpha Centauri Redux Project for the kinda theme or style we're going for, I'm also a big fan of early Vampire: The Masquerade sourcebooks, how they used borders and such as extra world building. These are references for direction rather than examples of complexity needed.
Budget and Timeline:
Budget is $100 USD for the complete design and the associated usage rights. Ideally I'd like it within two months, but the timeline is negotiable. I'm not expecting anything more than one revision. If you get within the ballpark aesthetically, I'm happy. I would, however, expect the finished SVG components to actually work as a modular frame. If they don't fit together or can't be resized as intended, we'd need to get that sorted out. There is SOME room to negotiate the budget if you've got an absolutely killer idea that goes beyond what I've described. However, you'll need to demonstrate what exactly you're proposing and why it's worth the additional expense. "Trust me bro" will not be viewed kindly.
Rights:
What I need is a perpetual license to reproduce, modify, resize, and use the finished artwork throughout LTTS. LTTS itself is free, and anything involving this art would be distributed free, It will not be sold separately, bundled into paid products, or otherwise monetized indirectly. You retain ownership and authorship of your artwork, and I'm perfectly happy to credit you. I just need to be able to continue using and adapting the assets.
Communication Policy:
I genuinely didn't think I'd have to say this, but my last commissioning experience disabused me of that notion. Please keep all applications within this thread. I will contact applicants via Reddit DM that I'm interested in working with. Do not attempt to locate or contact me through other social media accounts, personal websites, email addresses, discords, or other channels regarding this commission or any hypothetical future commissions. Any such attempts will result in immediate disqualification from consideration. Please don't cyberstalk me. I cannot believe I have to explicitly request this.
AI Policy:
Do not use Gen AI in your art pipeline, I'm as capable as anyone else of prompting the torment nexus.
Applying:
For the down select, please post a direct link to some kind of vector graphic, UI design, decorative border, or similarly relevant work you've actually done. If I have to dig through fifty character illustrations trying to figure out whether you can create something that amounts to a fairly fancy table, I'm not going to call you up. Also, please don't post your rate card as a negotiating starter. The budget is $100 for the complete deliverables and rights. If your rates don't work for that, absolutely fair, but this isn't the commission for you, move along.
Other than that, I'll probably picks someone for the commission before the week is out. Thanks!
