That will never happen. My girlfriend tells me that I’m the most important person in her life and we’re going to get married and spend the rest of our lives together, but she still has never been even 10% as happy and excited to see me as she gets when she sees a dog, any dog, even if it’s an ugly dog.

She said you're the most important person, not the most important being.

Shit, I'm a guy and I do that. One of my coworkers has a support dog and she's off duty if no customers are there, I greet her much morr exuberantly than any of my other co-workers, including two of my best friends. A dog greets you back that way and it's just nice.

It's because a dog almost can't reject you. They're so flooded with bonding hormones because of how we bred them that they're almost guaranteed acceptance.

40 yr old checking in.

This isn't just a 20 yr old thing. My wife who is my age still freaks out over dogs. Any dog. All she need to see is something remotely fluffy and sub knee-high, and the "awwwwwwwwwws" start flowing.

Can confirm. I remember thinking about breaking up with a guy and actually being sad that my dog might miss him. 19 is such a tender age.

Went to therapy two years ago, figured out I’ve never experienced unconditional love (not even from parents) and subsequently I’ve never felt it for anyone else, including myself. When the therapist was trying to do an exercise to show what it felt like, so I could project those feelings onto myself, the only thing that came close was what I felt for my ex’s dog.

TL;DR: I love dogs more than myself.

Doesn't have to be a girl in their 20s. I've been to plenty of parties and the second I see the home owner's dog my interest shifts from conversations with people to belly rubs

No kidding. I got a puppy recently and I have a crush on pretty much every girl around my age who wants to pet him. They just get so affectionate.

Dogs haven't ogled her every single day since she was 12.

If it makes you feel any better, no matter how much she loves the dog, she’s not gonna let it hump her leg. And if it’s her dog, she’s gonna get it castrated.

Hey, don’t stereotype 20something girls for getting ridiculously excited about dogs. I’m a 20something guy and I get ridiculously excited about dogs too.
