Are we actually using social media, or just watching it

I've been thinking about how much social media has changed.

A few years ago, most of what I saw on Instagram and Facebook came from people I actually knew. Friends posting photos, sharing updates, having conversations in the comments.

Now I can spend 30 minutes scrolling and barely see anything from someone I follow.

Most of the feed is recommended videos, creators I've never heard of, sponsored content, and posts selected by an algorithm.

And I understand why. Platforms want people to spend more time on their apps, and recommending entertaining content is a good way to achieve that.

But I think we've lost something in the process.

Social media has become really good at keeping us entertained, but I'm not sure it's become better at helping us connect.

I'm curious whether others feel the same way.

Do you still use Instagram, Facebook, or X to interact with people, or have these apps basically become entertainment platforms for you?

Ps. Cobrei 150€ porque estava a começar. Entretanto investi na formação e evoluí.

Can Instagram replace YouTube?

IMO not until its search improves.

I think we will start seeing more cross posting from YouTube to Instagram.

What are your thoughts on this?

Looking for the easiest AI agents for social media management setup. Can anyone recommend something convenient and affordable?

Long story short, I’ve hit the point where I just can’t keep up with everything on my own anymore. I’m already feeling burned out. I really want to finally delegate the routine stuff, because I have no energy left for the creative work.

Right now literally everyone is talking about AI social media management, and I’m interested in it too. I’ve already tried googling, but I get recommended so many tools that it’s hard to pick just one (and I don’t know much about them anyway).

What, in your opinion, is the easiest AI agents for social media management setup right now?

I don’t need some complex enterprise solutions that take weeks to configure. I’m looking for something as user-friendly as possible. Something I can connect quickly, set the direction, and let it generate/schedule posts on its own while I focus on the bigger tasks.

What are you all actually using right now, and is it worth it? I’d appreciate any honest feedback!

What makes a good hook in short form?

I don’t understand, what does a good hook look like for entertainment content, like if you’re clipping parts from your YouTube video or stream.

if a reel didn't do too well on Instagram trials but did fine on YouTube/tiktok, should I still publish it?

Hi,

Please, I kindly ask for replies exclusively from experienced people.

I have 15k followers on ig, 1k on YouTube and 5k on tiktok.

My trial reels flopped a bit (usually I get 20k views and around 300 likes, this one had 100 likes and 15k views)

It did well enough on YouTube Shorts and Tiktok though (slightly above average numbers). the video itself is not bad at all, it's just a more niche-y content, which has less people interested, even though it's still part of my channels niche.

Should I still publish it to my grid either way? Or should I let it go?

How do you monetize your core audience as a creator?

Hey everyone! Converting social media followers (Instagram/ TikTok/Threads) into paid subscribers is tough for me.
I notice a massive drop-off every time I try to send people away from their daily apps to read emails or download extra apps like Skool/ Patreon.
I'm currently planning a simplified setup to monetize my top 5% readers/followers:
Instead of a newsletter or Patreon, I'm thinking of offering a $5/mo WhatsApp VIP Feed (1-way broadcast, strictly no spammy group chats).
The concept: 1-2 times a week, subscribers get exclusive advice/inside from me directly delivered to their main messaging app.
My reasoning: Everyone is already on WhatsApp all day, so there's zero friction or new apps to download.
The goal is zero friction: Delivering premium content straight to a chat app they already open 20 times a day anyway, charged at a low $5/mo micro-subscription.

Appreciate any feedback or experience you can share!

How I start a founder brand from zero: the week one audit, which platform first, and when to judge it

A founder comes to you with no audience, a good business and a lot of opinions about their own story. They want to be on YouTube by Friday.

After 12 years behind the scenes, this is the order I use now.

  1. Week one is an audit, with no filming. Who is on the team, what it costs, which tools, what has been tried. Then I sit with the founder and ask why they are doing this, what they want from it and how long they will commit. A founder brand is slow and expensive, so I want that answer first.

  2. Two formats are never up for testing: a daily podcast clip and a daily selfie video. The selfie video is cheap, cuts through because it does not feel like business content, and lets the founder's voice be heard. The podcast clip builds authority. Everything else is disposable and gets tested.

  3. Lead with what the audience gets. Founders assume people care about their story. They care about it far less than the founder does. Find the one thing in their history nobody else can copy, then frame it as what the viewer learns.

  4. Give it a mission and an enemy. Views without a mission are noise, and naming an enemy is the quickest route to a mission. Then back it with repeatable formats, so people know what they are there for.

  5. Short form first, LinkedIn on winners, YouTube last. Instagram and TikTok are where you learn fastest. LinkedIn only gets what has already won. YouTube is the slowest place to find out you were wrong.

  6. Judge the first three months on signals. Expecting the numbers to move in three months is unreasonable. I watch average views creeping up, the odd outlier, real people in the DMs and recognisable names viewing the stories. The numbers start to show in months 4 to 6.

Proof. I was Head of Content for Sam Stoffel. Before I joined he had spent about 7 months posting and had 1,500 followers. The team was telling his story with no mission, no enemy and nothing in it for the viewer. I decided the team was not good enough and rehired all of it. We found three formats (selfie videos, podcasts and reviews of other personal brands) and built a system that put out three posts a day. He went from 0 to 500,000 followers in 10 months, mainly Instagram then TikTok. Those formats were still running after I left.

Now the caveats. Rehiring a whole team is a blunt move. The signals in step 6 are judgement, and there is no formula. And one founder I worked with stopped because he found an easier route to the same revenue. Whether there is an easier route is now a week one question for me, and I would rather find out then than in month nine.

For anyone who has built a founder brand from nothing: what did you put in front of the audience first, and what would you cut from this list?

Spam and P*rn Bots at my stories

Hello 👋

My Instagram stories are overwhelmed with spam and porn bots viewers lately.

It's been going on for about 4 months.

They appear at random hours at my last or most recent story.

Sometimes they appear as Porn bots, sometimes as empty accounts and sometimes like spam.

Where could they possibly come from?

Where do you get content inspiration

I want to know what are your favourite profiles that you follow. Where do you get inspiration? I am looking for more niche profiles than the classics (like Ryanair and Duolingo).

Also where do you search for current trends without scrolling for hours?

FOR CONTENT CREATORS WHO HAVE ACCOUNTS ON DIFFERENT PLATFORMS

Hey guys this is for all the content creators at different platforms out there ,actually I wanted to know like how are you managing your account a different platforms at once like for YouTube you have yt studio to use and for Instagram I guess there might be another app as well and for tik Tok to,so how are you able to manage it properly and are you facing any kind of difficulties or problems while managing different account in different apps and do you assign someone to manage your account for different platforms?

What do you think about having a personal AI assistant which will have access to your accounts in different platforms and will manage it through one single app It would be just like an AI assistant that will help you decide which content is booming and which content is being pushed by the algorithm and it will recommend you video ideas and it would also be helpful for you to Boom your social media account.

So looking forward to an open discussion and open problems that you want to share that you face while using these apps and we can discuss it

Is posting every day really necessary to grow on Instagram?

Many creators say consistency is the key to growing on Instagram, but does that mean posting every day?

Would you rather post daily content or publish three high-quality posts per week?

For people who manage social media accounts, what has worked best for you?

When you see a contest that says "enter to win by following our page", how are they tracking the accounts of new followers? Is it all done manually? Is there a good third party software?

Ad free social media

Would you all like to use a social media which is ad free but it will require subscription fee? Primarily it will be video based. 5 sec videos will be free to post and consume But videos higher than that will incure subscription depending on the length of the video. For ex 30 sec video will have some nominal subscription fee and then 60 sec will have even higher rate. Only distinguisher from tiktok or instgram reels will be ad free distribution of content.

Share your honest feedback about it.you are free to roast.

I did my year end client audit in October instead of January and it changed who I am pitching for 2027

I used to wait until January to look back at my client year, which meant I was pitching renewals and new clients at the exact same time I was realizing half my retainers were priced wrong.

This year I did the audit last week, while there is still time to act on it. It took about two hours and I kept it simple. For each client I wrote down the hours I actually spent, not the hours in the contract, what they paid, which reports they actually replied to, and where extra work kept creeping in that was never in the original scope.

Three things stood out fast. One client who felt like my biggest account was my lowest revenue per hour once I counted approval rounds. One quiet client who barely messages me was my best hourly rate and used maybe half of what they paid for. And most of my scope creep was not big asks, it was small ones I never wrote down.

So my 2027 list is different than it would have been in January. The quiet client gets a renewal conversation first, with a plan to actually use what they are paying for. The approval heavy client gets either a higher price with a cap on revision rounds, or a smaller scope at the same price. And I am not pitching new clients in the niches that burned the most hours this year, even though they are the easiest to find.

The part that helped most was doing it early enough to have calm conversations, not January conversations where everyone feels rushed.

Do you audit your clients before the new year, or do you just roll the same retainers forward and hope it feels better?

How do I legit gain followers on IG?

Spent about a year making an app, did paid adds via google and apple some downloads now I’m trying to gain followers on IG to not only help with looking more legit but being able to spread my reach further. Granted I am terrible at social media , I was semi lucky that I have a friend with a pretty big following do a collab with me so that helped a little bit. But knowing that I need likes and shares and comments to get further reach it feels nearly impossible at the beginning with only having like 15 people following that page. Any tips on actually getting started would be tremendously appreciated.

Where does your social proof actually show up when someone is about to buy?

Something I keep noticing when I click through from a brand's Instagram or TikTok: all the good stuff (comments from happy customers, people wearing or using the product, creator videos) lives on the social profile. Then I land on the website and it's a plain product page with studio photos and maybe three reviews.

The moment someone is deciding whether to pay is on that product page or at checkout, not while they're scrolling. So the proof is sitting in the one place the buyer has already left.

A few patterns I've seen people try:

  • Pinning a "customers wearing it" highlight and linking it from the bio. Helps people who are still browsing, but almost nobody goes back to it once they're on the site.
  • Putting a few tagged customer posts or short clips directly on the product page, close to the add to cart button.
  • Quoting real comments (with permission) in the product description instead of writing more marketing copy.
  • Using the same UGC in retargeting ads, so the proof follows people back.

For those of you who manage social for brands: do you have any say over how your content gets used on the website, or does it stop at the platform? And if you've moved content onto product pages, did anyone notice a difference, or is it hard to measure?

Referrals

I’m looking to scale up a side business on FB, LI and Insta. I’m curious about referrals. Do these work best for adding clients in a particular industry or client size? I was thinking they were more active when targeting business with other solopreneurs. Do they work equally well for corporate or small biz?
