News Truly unbelievable: US 10yr hits 5.20%

Post image
2.7k Upvotes

It really is remarkable to sit back and watch the US 10yr treasury rate rip like this.

As someone who ran a bond desk back in the early 2010s, it has been fascinating to watch this unfold. It’s not the rate per say that is eye opening but rather the velocity of this move higher in light of the size of the US debt burden.

The equities market always get the front page on the news, that’s just how it works. Bonds are boring, “The old people’s thing” but the global debt market has been screaming for months now and is doing so without much noise.

Bank for International Settlements (BIS), often described as the central bank for central banks, dollar credit to borrowers outside the U.S. (not counting banks) was about $14.7 trillion at the end of March 2026.

It was growing more than 7% a year, and roughly 30% of it was owed by emerging-market borrowers.

Japan and Europe also have a pile of Us treasuries, Japan specifically has found itself between a rock and a hard place with this move.

News Trump just threatened massive China tariffs and markets are TANKING 📉

Post image
1.4k Upvotes

Trump just posted on Truth Social that he's considering a "massive increase of Tariffs on Chinese products" over rare earth elements.

Markets are bleeding right now.

The key points:

  • China is withholding rare earths and getting "very hostile"
  • He's calling their move inappropriate and threatening financial retaliation
  • Says the U.S. has monopoly positions too: "for every Element they have, we have two"
  • Meetings with Xi are cancelled

Rare earths = critical for EVs, tech, defense. Supply chain chaos incoming and inflation fears are back.

This is Trade War 2.0 and it's happening NOW.

Trump Back in the Oval Office… as a Day Trader? 📈

Trump posted this after INTC closed up 22% today following a five billion dollar deal with NVDA

The US government already owns around 10% of Intel. Nvidia is partnering to develop AI chips using Intel’s foundry.

This isn’t momentum. It’s orchestration.

Really curious how these stocks trading digitally 24/7 will work moving forward when there is big liquidity there.

AI has taken a beaten this week and apparently this weekend as well lol. Feel like some of these will end up being some banger buys this month if they keep bleeding.

News US Treasury to 5.14% “What does high score mean, did I break it? 😂

Post image
568 Upvotes

US treasuries continue to move higher, 5% did not end up being resistance in the chart….currently trading around 5.10%.

Some say this is just a sign of a growing economy, some say otherwise.

For reference, the last time the US 10yr hit 5% was back in October 2023 briefly. But we have not seen the 10yr hold a 5% yield month over month since June- July 2007 (5.10%,5%). After late July 2007 it broke down as the financial crisis started and did not hold 5% again for months.

Either way, it is an objective truth that this administration did not anticipate or want higher Interest rates given the debt balance the US government is carrying.
