Announcement Please read before you post asking us to help with your acne!

We already have a pinned post addressing this, but since we continue to get posts asking the members of this sub to diagnose skin conditions (acne in particular) and/or recommend treatment, here's a reminder: We are here to discuss skincare products and routines. We are not here to diagnose skin conditions or how to treat them. This is not a dermatology clinic, and we are not qualified to diagnose and recommend treatment. This is a casual sub to discuss products, routines, and general skincare.

The correct answer to "does anyone know what this is/does anyone know how to treat this?" is "Yes, a dermatologist knows". Please do not come here asking for diagnoses and and treatment advice! To those who have been posting these questions, please consult a trained professional, or if you can't do that, ask your questions in more appropriate subreddits like r/DermatologyQuestions, r/acne, or r/AskDocs.

Thank you!

Routine Help Normal skin, but dealing with clogged pores & a “dirty” feeling—help!

I need some advice regarding my skin.
My skin is actually normal, not oily at all, but I have a weird issue: whenever I take a shower or wash my face, I get this annoying feeling that my skin isn't truly clean and feels greasy/dirty, especially around my nose. On top of that, I struggle with blackheads right on my nose and oily clogged pores (whiteheads) on the sides of it

My current routine is very simple: a gentle cleanser, moisturizer, and sunscreen.
Is there a specific product I should add (like Salicylic Acid or something else) to deeply clean my pores and get rid of this dirty/oily feeling without drying out my normal skin? Any tips would be really helpful!

Routine Help Pre-Wedding Routine Building

So, I am getting married in about 20 months and I want to have the best skin ever. I am older, at 35, and am seeing so much conflicting information about when to use what and how often. Frankly, I’m feeling overwhelmed and confused.

I have combination skin, oily nose and chin, dry around the brows and normal everywhere else. On the whole, I have pretty good skin, some fine lines around the eyes, expression lines on the forehead and smile line around the mouth. I am also fat, like, very fat (as a descriptor, not a judgement). I plan to lose some weight for the wedding (not a drastic amount but enough I worry about loose skin). I have visible pores around the nose, chin and cheeks.

I have previously had a good skincare routine but it was a few years ago and I don’t remember what I was doing, but do remember the products I was using and that I staggered them, just not how. So, I was using:

- Elemis Pro-colleges cleansing balm
- Go-to foaming cleanser
- Summer Fridays cc me serum
- Sunday Riley Good Genes
- Sunday Riley Luna oil
- The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid
- The Ordinary Niacinamide
- Go-To Face Hero Oil
- Tatcha Water Crème (or Neutrogena hydro boost)

I know I liked all of these products but I don’t remember how to use them, what order to apply them, what time of day to apply them or how often (especially with the actives as Im starting from scratch again). I am also really open to more cost effective alternatives for these products as apparently past me was feeling very boujee.

Please, please, help me!

Sun Protection Inconspicuous UV Protection Glasses

Hi guys!

I work on a bus. Because I’m immunocompromised, I wear a mask on the bus. I’m pretty good about sunscreen, but lately my eye area has been getting over irritated by any sunscreen with hives/teary eyes.

While I’m outside, I usually rely on sunglasses for eye area protection. But when wearing a mask on the bus, that would make me look weird (I even tried and my friend commented that it looks like I was hiding from the police, lol).

Are there any places online where you can get non-prescription glasses with the UV coating? I think normal glasses would look way less suspicious.

Or, do you have tips for keeping the eye area safe from UV rays when it’s really sensitive?

Thank you!

Product Question anyone found something that actually helps with strawberry legs?

i've tried a few different body lotions and exfoliating products for my strawberry legs, but haven't found anything that makes a huge difference yet. i came across Transforming Body Lotion from Ameliorate while looking at other options, so i'm thinking about giving it a try.

i'm curious what other people have used for this. did you find a product that helped with the little dots on your legs, or is it more about finding the right combination of products?

Dryness Florida to Nevada - climate change has completely ruined my skin. What to do?

Recently made a big move across the country (Yay!), but my skin has taken a tough hit.

I’ve always had oily skin, and found a routine that basically perfected my skin to the best of its ability (Hyaluronic face wash + serum before bed, with serum in the mornings paired with sunscreen), but since moving over somewhere far more dry, my face has practically exploded in blackheads that just will not go away.

They show up in clusters on both my cheeks and forehead, and my picking disorder has turned my face into a dark spot minefield. I’m seriously struggling since I don’t wear makeup at all in my day to day besides the occasional outing with friends that’s maybe 3/4 times a year.

I tried a Salicylic face wash for a bit, but that only seemed to make the dryness worse, which in turn made my dark spots worse due to the constant peeling of said skin.

I’m loosing my mind here! I struggle to even look in the mirror due to this, and it seems like there’s a new cluster each morning when I wake up. Has anyone else dealt with this? If so, what did you do? Most advice seems vague, and if I can be honest, incredibly overwhelming, but I know my stress isn’t helping, so I want there to be some ease of concern.

Thank you for reading, and I appreciate any help I can get <3

Product Question Under-eye product question

So basically, I want to start an under-eye routine. I have some dark circles that I think are caused by a combination of pigmentation and vascular issues, as well as some fine lines. I’m looking for relatively affordable products, so I was thinking of using The INKEY List Caffeine Eye Cream in the morning and the Beauty of Joseon Revive Eye Serum at night, both paired with the DIEUX reusable eye masks. I also apply a vitamin C serum to my face every morning.

Would these be good products to start with? If so, how should I use them? And if not, what affordable products would you recommend instead?

Routine Help Is There Anything I can do About This Texture? 🥺

Post image
0 Upvotes

Due to skin picking in high school and using some pretty intense topical treatments that did more harm than good, I'm left with this skin texture that just won't go away.

Does anyone have recommendations for products or treatments that may help?

AM Routine:

  • Beauty of Joseon Red Bean Water Gel
  • Skinfix Triple Lipid-Peptide Cream Barrier Moisturizer or Eucerin Urea Repair Day Face Cream
  • Round Lab Birch Juice Moisturizing Sunscreen

PM Routine:

  • The Body Shop Camomile Sumptuous Cleansing Butter
  • Skinfix Gentle Gel Ceramide + Ectoin Cleanser
  • Beauty of Joseon Red Bean Water Gel
  • Skinfix Triple Lipid-Peptide Cream Barrier Moisturizer or Eucerin Urea Repair Day Face Cream

1-2x per week:

  • Some variation of a hydrating face mask (usually Dr. Jart, Biodance or Ishizawa-Lab)

Product Question Anyone know if this LRP lotion is legit?

I bought this La Roche Posay from Amazon and I’m worried it might be fake. I got the same one a couple months ago and the packaging is completely different now— the plastic is way thinner, has a matte feel, and the printed label looks darker and cheaper.

I’m not sure if LRP has changed the packaging or whether this is fake. It says shipped and sold by Amazon. If someone can please let me know, it’d be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Routine Help Looking affordable eye serum or eye cream that could help with both my dark circles and fine lines ?

I’m looking for an affordable eye serum or eye cream that could help with both my dark circles and fine lines under my eyes. I know that different products target different types of dark circles, like vascular or pigmented dark circles, but I’m having a hard time figuring out which type I have. I think mine might be a combination of both.
I’d love some recommendations for affordable products that could help with both concerns. I already use a vitamin C serum in my morning skincare routine, and I’m also planning on buying reusable under-eye masks, so I’d like to know what would work best alongside those!
Thank you!

Routine Help Eye bags: can I get rid of them?

25M, I’ve had eye bags since I was like 11. Some pictures it’s so obvious some it’s not too obvious.

Let me be clear: by eye bags I mean dark circles under the first of my eyes, more visible on the first half part. So if I’m slightly turning my head down, it is very visible.

I worry people think I look tired/sad/high when I have a straight face because of these eye bags, and i don’t know what to do to get rid of them.

What products do you recommend for men? Those sticker things?
- I already tried that Harry’s blue eye chapstick & metal thing and that didn’t work for me.

Review Combo skin here, my two holy grail milky toners so far

Thumbnail

My skin is pretty classic combo. My T-zone gets a little oily and my cheeks are super dry. Anything heavy like an ampoule just sits on top of my T-zone and the oil comes back even faster. So I gave up on ampoules completely and started using milky toners instead.

Hoping this helps anyone else with dry or combo skin, here's how the 4 milky toners I've used compare.

>haruharu wonder Black Rice Probiotics Barrier Essence
One of the most moisturizing milky ones I've tried. It has rice in it, so it goes on really soft and silky, nothing like a regular watery toner. It feels like it fills my dry cheeks with moisture and leaves a soft layer on top. Only downside is if I get greedy and use too much, my T-zone gets oily faster than I'd like. I don't layer this one. Also it has oil in it so shake it before you use it, it feels less greasy that way.

>Illiyoon Ceramide Ato Milky Toner
I liked all 4 but this is my daily favorite right now. The texture is right between a toner and a serum, and it's not sticky or oily at all. It's really good at putting moisture back in, and ceramide is the main ingredient, which is what I want for moisture and calming. I layer it a few times on my cheeks since they're drier, and my makeup still doesn't pill. My T-zone doesn't get oily either.

>Celimax Dual Barrier Creamy Toner
Also kind of thick, between a toner and a serum. It spreads on like water without feeling oily, but it still gives decent moisture. If you mostly want hydration, 2 layers of this works well.

>The Ordinary Saccharomyces Ferment 30% Milky Toner
I bought this hoping it would help with T-zone oil and gentle exfoliation. It does help with texture, but when my cheeks are having a bad day or my barrier is weak it stings a bit. So I only use it when my skin is in good shape and my T-zone feels congested. It's definitely the lightest on moisture of the 4.

Routine Help Face scar from picking

I got this scar from picking a pimple about 2 years ago which resulted in a gnarly infection.
I haven’t done anything professional on it. Just a basic skin care routine.

Can it be improved?
I’m so self conscious about it and I just want to know there’s hope for it to get better.

Dryness Chronic dry lips - possibly from dissolving lip filler many years ago?

I’ve been dealing with dry lips for the past 6 years. I’m not sure if it’s because I had lip filler dissolved but I swear ever since that time this has occured. Prior to having it dissolved, I never used lip balm or felt the need to. Now I’m using it every day and every chance I can get my hands on it. I’ve tried every type and yes it hydrates but once it dries or gets wiped away, they feel dry again. It’s so frustrating. I’m not sure whether getting filler again will fix the issue…is this a thing? lol

Review Moisturiser recommendations? Anua Ceramide 3+ Panthenol feels a little sticky on my skin

Hey everyone! 😊

I’ve been using the Anua Ceramide 3+ Panthenol moisturiser, but I find it a little sticky on my face. I’m planning to switch to a new moisturiser that feels lightweight, absorbs well, and doesn’t leave a sticky finish.

Could you please suggest some good moisturisers? I’d love to hear your personal experiences and recommendations!

Thanks in advance!

Sun Protection Should i wear suncream daily?

For reference, i am young and my skin is quite pale, and im just wondering whether i should wear suncream on a daily basis to protect myself from my pimples and spots being exposed to UV and being darkened.

I live in the UK, so the UV index is fairly low. However, everyone keeps raving about suncream changing their face and getting rid of their dark spots, glow, hydration, solved their life problems etc.

I went to see a dermatologist and they said it would be unnessesary for my young skin, and it would block my pores etc.

I need another opinion on this please, and if you had any experience with these things it would be appreciated.

Dryness Mixa Panthenol Comfort vs Ceramide Protect vs Niacinamide Bright - which would you recommend for the face?

Thumbnail
gallery
1 Upvotes

Hi everyone! I’m trying to choose one Mixa moisturiser to buy from the Chemist Warehouse and I’d really appreciate advice from anyone who has tried these products.

The three I’m considering are:
Mixa Panthenol Comfort Cream (400 ml)
Mixa Ceramide Protect Cream (400 ml)
Mixa Niacinamide Bright Cream (400 ml)

My skin type: Normal to dry, with no major oiliness. I want something moisturising enough for winter that I can use on my face daily.

My sister uses the Mixa Niacinamide Bright Cream and loves it, but I’m unsure whether it would suit my skin too. I’ve also seen concerns about isopropyl palmitate and myristyl myristate potentially clogging pores.

For anyone who has tried these:
Which one worked best on your face, particularly for normal-to-dry skin?

Did any of them cause clogged pores, closed comedones or breakouts?

Did the Niacinamide Bright cream actually help with glow or dark spots?

Would you recommend any of these for daily facial use, or are they better suited to the body?

Since my sister will be bringing the product from Australia, I need to choose one full-size tub rather than test several. I’d love to hear about your actual experiences, especially long-term use. Thank you! 💗

Routine Help Super oily skin

I like my current routine. I use a face wash, toner and moisturizer day and night, sometimes 3 times a day. I also use an exfoliating treatment 1-2 times a week. The problem is my very oily t zone, especially my forehead. Is there anything I can do or products that’ll help with that?
