Recently, it feels like there’s been a growing wave of heavy shoegaze bands that blend heaviness with beauty, like Loathe, Fleshwater, Trauma Ray, and Wisp.

I’m looking for Japanese bands that have a similar sound, but recommendations from anywhere in the world are welcome too! What are your favorites?

One band I’d recommend is Sheeve, which I discovered recently. I haven’t really seen anyone mention them, so if you haven’t heard of them, give them a listen!

Does anybody know who this is? It's an old record company press photo I have and I love it, but no name or photo credit on it. Around early 90s. Google search turns up nothing. It might not strictly be shoegaze, but likely indie orientated from that time. Any ideas?!

I currently can’t really listen to this album or their other one in the U.S., I wish they had Bandcamp so I could buy it even, does anyone know where I can listen to it?

Linking up with some rockers in Austin next Friday. Pull up for a free show

i just found this but i can‘t stop listening

right now I have a cheap clone that doesn't satisfy what I do. I'm more into heavier shoegaze stuff (a lot like kraus, loves his stuff), but I do alt rock stuff too (smashing pumpkins), so I was looking towards an double op-amp. let me know what you think

waddup its ben from tagabow lol just shared some old songs me and my friends made years ago thought u guys might enjoy em 🤔 dedicated to the 2 bunnies we lost RIP hank & coconut 🐇🐇❤️

Don't chase after other people's sound. Try to understand why it sounds that way first. Most tones are simpler than you think but serve a greater purpose. The only two things you need to keep in mind are "why?" and "do I like this?"

EXPERIMENT AND HAVE FUN THAT'S WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT. MAKE ART AND EXPRESS YOURSELF

Love all this dudes music, but it seems like he kind of just disappeared. Last thing he did was that split with Teethe. Just wondering if anyone has any idea what’s going on?

hey guys! i’ve been recently listening to blackgaze and screamo-style shoegaze and i’ve been wanting to branch out more. i’ve currently listened to:

sunbather - deafheaven

i am a spiritual being having a human experience - to be gentle

i want to be there - sadness

safe crusades / no judgments / and baby - the caution children

chromesthesia - modern color

if you guys have any recommendations similar to these albums or these genres, send them over and i’ll give them a listen! thanks!

Hey everyone!

We're framewalkers, a shoegaze/indie band from Germany.

Our second EP “echoes” was released on October 9, and we'd love to share it with you.

The EP brings together noisy shoegaze guitars, dreamy melodies, melancholic vocals and some post-punk influences. The songs move between quieter, atmospheric moments and walls of noise.

A few of the songs explore loneliness, disappointment and the feeling of being left unheard, while others hold on to hope and connection.

We put a lot of ourselves into this release, and we'd really appreciate some honest feedback from people who are into these kinds of sounds.

If you give it a listen, we'd love to know:

• Which song stands out to you?
• How do you feel about the overall sound and atmosphere?
• Is there anything that particularly works for you — or doesn't?

Thanks for giving us a little of your time. We'd love to hear your thoughts! 🖤

Xuvetyn is beloved by ambient shoegaze lovers, of course. People describe their sound as "alien field recordings" or whatever, but really they're one of the only acts to really expand on the wall of sound built by MBV in an artistically interesting way. Zooming in on this gorgeous song, we are awash in layers and float in a jetstream of aerial bliss. Literally who the hell needs substances when you have music like this?

I found a good second-hand deal, and I was wondering what your experience is with this pedal.

I know this pedal is intended for Marshall style amps for hard rock and metal, but what really caught my eye is that it also has a boost.

I'd also like to know what the boost is like, and if I could get clean, non-distorted tones with the boost at the minimum.

2000's Shoegaze revival was really unique and experimental. I miss it sometimes...

Thought of this song yesterday and went digging through my music library to find it when I couldn’t remember their name. Great Brisbane shoegaze from ~2014 and unfortunately a one-off. This is one of my all-time favorite songs. The dreamy vocals. Beautiful big guitars. Tasteful, interesting pulsing drums. If this reminds folks here of other bands I’d love to go down the rabbit hole… for now, just wanted to share a possibly overlooked gem.

Hey, this is the new single from my band Novanta, "Midnight". 9/8 time signature, dreamy crescendo, a lot of melancholy. Cheers! https://novanta.bandcamp.com/track/midnight
