Are my favorite. Especially when Mickey is a bridezilla.
Why do we require such long titles for posts?
That is all

I just love this character, weird since I hated him during the first seasons.
I'm currently on season 5 (just started) and I enjoy every scene he's in

I love season 4 of Ian and Mickey. As depressing and chaotic that season is, most of my favorite Gallavich moments are in that season. The reuniting scene, the club kiss scene, the coming out scene. So good.

Found Shameless from random TikTok clips and now coming to the end of S9. Everything has been almost perfect from S1 thru S8 but after Fiona lost her money, property, etc then her character has been almost too ruined. Not to the point that ''if the acting makes you angry, she's doing a good job'' but rather unpleasant to watch.
I get the downwards spiral into alcohol but it's waaaaayy too much.

I have just finished watching all 11 seasons of Shameless US (I am in the UK). I never watched the UK version so I dont have anything to compare it too.
I do have a few musings/observations:
- Fiona fought so hard to get guardianship of the children, yet she regularly left them, overnight, to be with men. Behaved in a way similarly to her mum by abandoning them.
Then she left them for good, with only Frank as a guardian, did Lip take over legally?
- Where did Fiona go? They barely speak about her which makes no sense as she was such an integral part of the family. Then she ups and leaves and no one speaks about her again.
- I have no idea how buying a house works in the US but how did fiona go from buying a house, to a laundrette, to a block of flats?!
- I think Debbie is just like frank, her behaviour towards franny is heartbreaking. Fiona had her flaws but at least she cared about the children and they werent even hers. Debbie wanted a baby so much and then behaves like frannty is an inconvinience.
- Liam basically raised himself, there were people around but he did it alone. I still dont understand how he is franks son, I know theres throwback genes and genetics but it seems very extreme.
- Why do they keep letting frank live in the house, fiona owns it not him. They still allow him to come in and use their stuff, make a mess and be a nuisance.
- How can lip sell the house when its fionas?
- I absolutely adored Ian and Mickey, their story arc is fabulous. Although I have no idea how Mickey managed to get out of prison.
I might have more at another time but am looking forward to hearing other peoples views on my musings.

It just seemed lazy writing to me that they didn’t have Lip become successful.
He’s shown off as a genius but it doesn’t make sense for him to never understand his own potential while struggling for a few thousand dollars every single time.
I believe the troubled genius trope didn’t work this time.

Just got to the final few episodes of the last season and I feel like Frank hasn't done anything too devastating and he's been a pretty decent grandfather to Franny at least.
I feel bad for him, maybe he hasn't completely redeemed himself but I don't feel he's as bad as he used to be.
Anyone else waited for a redemption arc for Frank?

So because Lip and Tami want to buy a house they have to kick everyone else out!?

I recently finished all 11 seasons, it took me around 3 months to watch the show entirely, these are my impressions:
Seasons 1-5: I agree with most people here, those were the best seasons of the show and the most fucked up in my opinion, those were the seasons where the show got its charm from IMO.
Seasons 6-9: I'd say this was the beginning of the end. These seasons felt different from the first 5, the humor became dark and less grotesque, I felt the show lost its appeal when this change took place, however I did enjoy how the characters evolved in a way it seems they were going to slowly overcome their issues, Fiona was working at Patsy's and became a property manager, Lip went to college, Ian was an EMT, Debbie went to Trade school and Carl to military school. I felt really sad when Fiona left the show because the show was not the same after this. The heartwarming and sad part of season 9, was when Frank said goodbye to Fiona and acknowledged her help raising the guys by telling her "You did well". I also agree with one of the previous post, when I say that season 7 felt like the end or it could has been the end of the show.
Seasons 10&11: This was the closure needed for the show. At the beginning it felt like Debbie and Lip were trying to replace Fiona, that felt a little bit odd however it made sense since someone needed to be in charge now. What I really enjoyed about these 2 last seasons, it was the return of Mickey full time, I read it was after Cameron (Ian) negotiated his return. Now to the bad, I really disliked when some episodes turned a bit political, I understand these seasons were filmed during the pandemic and maybe the script might has been funny back in 2021 when the season aired, but now it only made me roll my eyes to the back of my head. The last episode is heartwarming and sad at the same time, seeing the family going their separate ways, Mickey and Ian moving to the west; Lip, Tammi and Liam moving out to a new house maybe, Carl and Debbie renting a place and Kevin and V moving to Kentucky. It was sad seeing Frank in his deathbed having his life flashing before his eyes, floating up, reading to his kids the goodbye letter he wrote, and watching them from above while all they sing outside the Alibi. It really put some tears on my eyes.
Final thoughts: I enjoyed it in general, probably won't watch it again, however I do regret not discovering this show when it first aired back in 2011, me of 15 years ago it's not the same me of today, I'm sure I'd have enjoyed much more back then but maybe I'd have stopped watching it after season 6 lol, like many people have mentioned in previous posts, probably because the decline of the show or maybe because I tend to grow away from shows that have too many seasons. Thanks for reading.

Although there isn't any evidence to suggest it, do you guys think Fiona loved jimmy so much that she actually missed him after he left like say maybe after a year he left for good?

As we know this show is about literal abject poverty, they literally had a check from Fiona and granted Debbie spent majority of it on designer outfits and luxury items but returned them for cash value scamming them to give her money back, and then she gave them weekly money allowances with bank cards in s10 which then got repossessed by other taxes and such, but then the writers never addressed those financial concerns again. Suddenly, by s11, they are poor again due in part of the covid 19, yet say they are poorer now than they were before. I wonder how they blew through $50,000 in one yr after Fiona left them! It ain’t like it was a big family and it wasn’t like they had much to pay for other than the house and even then they were contributing their own shares to it for awhile.

After two months of watching Shameless, here are my thoughts: Seasons 10 and 11 were unnecessary
After two whole months of watching this show and dedicating most of my free time to it, I finally have my two cents. You don’t have to agree with me, but I’m putting them out there: Shameless should have ended with Season 9.
Seasons 10 and 11 felt unnecessary. Fiona was reduced to a name-drop, and she never came back—not even for a proper send-off in the series finale. We never really found out what happened to her, and that feels like a huge hole in the ending.
There were also so many plot holes in those last two seasons. And what was the point of introducing a whole new person for Debbie so late in the show? It felt like lazy writing.
I also think Frank’s story could have ended when his liver was failing. That would have driven home the consequences of long-term alcoholism. His death was inevitable, though, and I do think he went out in a way that fit him: alone, scared, and with no one around.
But having Franny color the note he left? That felt distasteful. I think the ending should have been the family together in the living room, reading Frank’s note.
If the show had ended at Season 9, I would’ve been begging for more. After Seasons 10 and 11, though, I felt like it had gone on too long. The Gallaghers are always this close to getting ahead, then something knocks them right back down. And I kept wondering: is this really what life on the South Side of Chicago is like?
That’s my two cents. We could’ve done without Seasons 10 and 11, and Fiona should’ve returned for the finale.

Like I know she isn’t a great person, I completely agree, but many other characters in the show have terrible qualities too. Debbie is the way she is because of trauma and her parents. It doesn’t excuse it but it’s just an explanation. When Fiona left the coke out and Liam got into it, many people were able to understand that she was a product of her environment. It doesn’t make leaving coke out ok, but people are able to be empathetic towards her. So why not do the same for Debbie too? Like I’m genuinely confused here. Frank and Monica should be disliked WAY more than any of their children, imo

When I first watched the show about a year ago, I genuinely loved Fiona and Sean together, but when I made a post about them, I got quite a bit of backlash for it. So I'm curious to see if anyone actually agrees with me this time around or if people's opinions are still the same. Who do you think was Fiona's best boyfriend overall? I don't necessarily mean who had the best chemistry with her, but who actually treated her the best, respected her, supported her and genuinely loved her despite all her flaws, baggage and the chaos surrounding her life? Obviously none of the guys were perfect and they all had their own issues, but putting everyone's flaws aside, who do you think was genuinely the best for her?
