In December 2024, Scouting America touted a "$30 million grant from Lilly Endowment to build character in the nation's young people."
The Lilly grant was specifically targeted to expand and grow Scouting. Several councils were able to hire designated growth leaders whose sole mission was more units and more Scouts.
As of the end of 2024, membership was at 1,030,862 youth participants.
As of the end of 2025, that number had collapsed to 907,950: a loss of over 100,000 Scouts.
It is now the tail end of 2026. The latest data I have seen indicates we have broken below 900,000 and are likely (or lucky) in the upper 880k–890k range. One estimate is that we will end with 850,000.

A Scouter asked for it, and I felt this was the most appropriate thing to draw.

I have been a member of the Italian Catholic Scout Association since 2012, when I was eight years old. I have always found the American Boy Scouts a bit strange due to the heavy presence of adults, but I haven't followed recent developments. Why have so many scouts left, and why has the movement faced so much criticism? What happened?

Hello everyone! I‘m a leader of a local scout group in Luxembourg. Me and my co-leaders are doing some activities with our scout group with the theme: Countries of the world. Now I‘m asking you: What is a typical outdoor game/activity you do in your group? The games should be for children between the age of 7-11. Could you help me out?

Hello Brother Scouts, well, I was selected to represent Angola at the World Jamboree in Poland for service rendered. It's a dream come true.
This is my first Jamboree and coming from Angola it's very challenging to cover all the costs (travel, fee). My family can't help.
I would love to hear how other scouts from Africa / developing countries managed to fund their Jamboree journey? What kind of jobs, local fundraising activities, or grants worked for you? Any advice on preparing for Poland is also welcome. Thank you for reading. A big left-handed handshake! I hope to see you someday.

I was wondering if anyone has a 100th Anniversary Mexico Scouts neckerchief that they would be willing to sell. My dad passed away from cancer when I was nine, but before he passed, he always encouraged me to keep working toward becoming an Eagle Scout. He was also involved in Scouts in Mexico when he was a kid, so finding this neckerchief would be a special way for me to honor his memory and connect with a part of his life. It would mean a lot to me to have one before my Eagle Scout ceremony this spring. If anybody knows where I might be able to find one please contact me. Thank you so much

I just started helping out with my local scouting group as a part for a course I'm taking (I need to work with children and I chose the scouting group because there's not many kids and it's pretty chill) and I feel like I've just stumbled upon a whole new world and I know nothing about it. Pleaseeeee tell me what I need to know about this world so I can be somewhat useful to these kids.
ETA: I'm from Spain so if there's something specific about scouting in my country that I should know, tell me please.
Thanks :)

Today, I received a brand new KSA certificate with a facsimile signature from HM The King. The previous certificate was signed by our former Chief Scout, Bear Grylls.
Brief history, I signed up for KSA then QSA pre- pandemic and unfortunately the Queen had passed away midway through completing my activities hence, becoming a King's Scout after I have finished and presented my presentation to the District Scout Commissioner, who signed off the logbook, which is sent to the UK Scouts HQ (Gillwell Park) for final verification.
I am grateful that my parents came to the National Day of Celebration and Achievement at Windsor Castle to see other King's, Queen's Scouts and me marching around the quadrangle whilst being reviewed by the Duke of Kent.
I hope by sharing my journey to become a King's Scout inspire younger Scout to achieve their Chief Scout and other awards.

like the the title said, I've just left scouts and moved onto explorers, I'm moving with a few friends and I'm hoping the other girl is coming up as well. But I'm really sad that I've had to go! I started in scouts so its been my first experience, made patrol leader and spl and now I'm going and i'm really nervous, however i has hoping that the wonderful people on this group would be able to give me some tips on starting explorers and what to expect. how drastically different is it from scouts?
thanks :)

What, in your opinion, is the ideal inner diameter for a neckerchief slide/woggle? I can handle any kinds of units, but I will give extra points if you can give your answer in suitably precise furlongs. In order to invoke Cunningham's Law, I will assert that the correct answer is 4.97 microfurlongs.

Hi everyone, it's my very first time posting in here and I really hope that you can help me. Here in Brazil we have a badge related to foreign lenguage speaking, and I'm currently studying french, as I am pretty decent in english. To achieve this badge theres a need to stay in touch for some time with a foreign scout from a country native to that language, as I am learning French it would be very cool if someone helped me. Thank you all very much!!!

I don't see a lot of Malaysian scouting posts on this subreddit, plus I don't usually get to nerd out about King Scout's or just Malaysian scouting in general.
Just to preface, I'm a part of the post-pandemic batch of King Scouts and my batch of scouts in my group got a slow start in scouting so there are a LOT of gaps in my scouting knowledge and skills. Despite that though, I got the award I sought after with my friends (7 of us, different groups) after a lot of trials and tribulations (if you will).
Another thing is that - of course - I'm 17, so I don't know much about the corporate side or adult scouting, but I would like to continue Rovering once I'm 18. Sorry if I can't answer everything 😅
I have a lot stories to share and I would love to have a space where I can freely yap about scouting and how much it's changed my life!
Whether it's about King's Scouts, Malaysian scouting or just my experience, I'd like to share to my hearts content about literally anything scout related!
I really hope there are people who'd be interested to hear me out :)

I found these patches on a secondhand shirt and I can’t find anything online about them just searching the words / a description of them. I know one of the patches is a logo of the fish and wildlife service - it was attached the same jacket if that’s any help.

I’ve been mentoring my son as he works through his personal management MB recently, and I have to say this is one of the most useful activities he’s done in Scouting. Super practical, crucial concepts a young man should understand. I enjoyed being able to show him how all the things in my wallet apply to the lessons he’s learning.
