Groin pain for a month - how to recover

Post image
1 Upvotes

Created an AI picture to show where I feel pain.

There had been a small feeling in my left groin area for some time. The pain escalated a month ago, when I had a tempo run. There was a feeling when I started to run, the feeling got worse during the run, and after the run I couldn't raise my knee as it hurt quite a lot.

The groin pain can be felt when I raise my left knee and my knee is in about 40 degree angle. The groin pain is worse when I move down my raised knee. It feels when my leg moves, it feels in the same location and in the same angle.

I started to run two years ago. I have been running around 50 km / a week in summer, a month ago I run a little less but played some tennis, especially a week before my groin pain got worse.

The first week after the pain, I didn't run at all, and in the second week I ran only 2 km. Last week I tried to run 30 km at easy pace. Yesterday I run for 10 km, and the I've got the same "feeling" in my groin, and I think it would escalate had I tried to run a tempo run or long intervals that I tended to do.

I have been doing strength exercises twice a week, and now I try to look for videos on strengthening the groin area. Some videos say that one shouldn't stretch but do strength to recover.

What would be a good approach to tackle the groin pain?

I tend to have some health anxiety and make things worse in my head, like thinking of a spread prostate cancer, but I think tennis and running could explain my groin pain better than theories that my anxiety produces.

What Makes a Serious Runner?

As a runner and someone who likes to write about running, I am always interested in hearing what other runners think about running questions. There are no right or wrong answers, so feel free to share whatever comes to mind. I'm simply interested in your perspective.

So, what makes someone a serious runner? Is it about how often or how far they run, their commitment to running, what they achieve, or something else entirely? I'm interested in what being a serious runner means to you.

Jogging Business Ideas

Hello all! I’ve fallen in love with jogging over the last 7 years, and I’ve been thinking about ways to turn that passion into something bigger. I always bring my dog on my shorter jogs, so was potentially thinking about combining that.

Whether it’s starting a local run club in my area, building a running-related business, creating content, or finding some unique way to get involved in the running community, I’d love to hear ideas.

I’m an entrepreneur by nature, so I’m especially interested in ideas that could start as a hobby but potentially grow into something profitable over time.

If you were in my shoes, what would you do with a passion for running? Any ideas are welcome, whether they’re obvious, unconventional, or something you wish existed in the running world!

Thanks in advance!

Running Improvement suggestions

I M25, started running 1 year back and since then I have ran 3 half marathon, and around 1200 km. I started with 15-20km weekly mileage which has now increased to 50-60km weekly. But my speed didn't improved as I thought it would. My 5k timing went from 30 min to 28min only.

I did found some issue but not sure exactly how can I improve on that.

1) I rarely do strength training.

2) I lack proper stretching session. Like after the run if I am feeling lazy then I won't stretch at all.

3) Proper nutrition can be a factor.

I have divided My goals in into multiple parts:

1) Sub-25 5k.

2) Sub-20 5k.

3) Sub 2:10 21k

Hi everyone. Thanks for all the kind comments and questions on my last post, so I wanted to share another one.

I’m a runner, and I make and sell these figures from race photos. This one was sculpted from the finish photo, 3D printed, and painted by hand, with the race, distance, and finish time on the base.

I'll leave the link in the comments for anyone interested. Happy to answer any questions.

Started treadmill running yesterday!

So I have had a rough 2 years health wise and had 2 surgeries in that time and a few weeks ago I started to walk on the treadmill and I loved being able to exercise again and then yesterday I decided to jog/run/flail around for a minute then walk for 2 then run for a minute then walk for 2 etc etc for 20 minutes and did 2km.

My question is does it just get easier as you get fitter or should I focus on anything to get better?

REALLY enjoyed it!

Any advice on form/stride etc is very welcome!

Weighted Running

I’m thinking of incorporating weighted running into my easy runs. I can run a 10K in 53 minutes, but I feel like I’ve hit a plateau and want to improve further. My thinking is that running with weights might make me faster when I switch back to running without them. What are your thoughts?

I feel like I’m actually becoming a runner

Man, I used to be 210 pounds, smoked 2 packs of cigarettes every day, smoked 10+ bong rips every day and I drank a good bit from 21 to 31. If you told me I would be running every day let alone 30 minutes straight I wouldn’t believe it for a second.

I’ve been very hard on myself (my therapist hates it lol) so this is a reminder to myself how much progress I’ve made and a much needed pat on the back. Been dealing with a lot of stress and anxiety lately and running is my escape and my confidence builder.

My next goal is to run for 1 hour straight no stopping. You all inspire me 💪🏻

Best podcast when getting (re)-started?

For context, I loved Nike's "TRAINED" postcast when I was training for the only full marathon I've done, back in 2019. It was motivational and somewhat holistic in the sense that it reminded me to also meditate, general good habits, strength and recovery training. It's also the only podcast I could really get into while actually running. Well, I'm looking to get back into running seriously, and I'm starting from scratch. Maybe even in a "below zero" from where I was most of my "running life" which is about a decade in terms of regular mileage. I've gained 50lbs over the past yr, and need to lose about 30 to be in a healthy weight range. On top of that, I have next to zero muscle mass. I feel like I have older workout/training plans I could use and/or could make one up fairly easily, so I'm not looking for training tips, but would love some motivational podcasts to listen to as well to hype me up and help with other habits (i.e. strength training, yoga, wellness etc). Thank you!

2nd half marathon!

Hi all, last year I completed my first half marathon in under 3 hours with no training. I have just signed up for my 2nd half and this time I will be training as I didn’t not like how my body felt afterwards lol!

Any tips of starting of training? I’m looking to fit some strength training in as well as running and I’m also researching the best foods during my training

Any help is appreciated:)
