Discussion If you had to choose one of these 3 changes for rugby which one would you chose?

You can only pick one

  1. Global officiating and no room for interpretation, the unions gets together, everyone makes compromises and end up with a global way of officiating and the rules get rewritten to not leave room for interpretation by the ref

  2. Promotion and relegation both in the nations championship and six nations

  3. Global calendar, with well defined and structured club season and international windows like in football

Which one you choose? Is there a different one you would choose above these 3?

News Brau-Boirie out for 4 months : will France be able to field 15 players against the Boks?

https://www.lequipe.fr/Rugby/Actualites/Blesse-au-genou-gauche-le-centre-international-de-pau-fabien-brau-boirie-bientot-opere-et-absent-environ-quatre-mois/1739121

That's becoming laughable at this point really 😕
Sad for the guy as he's probably been one of my favorite newcomers in world rugby for the last year .

I think French rugby directors should really think again about top 14's ridiculously long schedule, most of all for the health protection of their own best players (cf DuPont's alarming comments about that few weeks ago) before even taking our national team's best interest into the equation.

Analysis Super Rugby Pacific Squad Breakdowns

Created one of these last year thought i would re make.

This year added a 'number of players with at least one international cap' but used AI so dont know how accurate it is.

Interesting notes:

- Reds with the largest team, Force with the smallest

- Locks have the largest discrepancy (2 - 7)

- Fiji with the most internationally capped players

- Number of backs is more consistent than number of forwards

- Teams seem to agree that 3 scrumhalves is enough (Waratahs have a long injury hence additional half).

Let me know what you think or if there is another slice of data you want.

"Benetton Rugby announces the mutual termination of the contractual agreement with Sootala Fa'aso'o .

The Samoan number 8, born in 1994 and joined the Lions in the summer of 2025, says goodbye to Benetton Rugby after having made 22 appearances, including 17 in the URC and 5 in the Challenge Cup.

Benetton Rugby wishes Sootala a successful future in his career."

Surprising news out of Treviso today. No idea where he's off to. Imo he was an excellent signing to replace Halafihi, and with Negri out too were really lacking ball carriers now.

Miscellaneous ear pain during scrum

i just recently joined my college’s women’s club rugby team and they’ve had me playing lock so far, and we’ve been working up to scrums over the past couple of weeks but last night at practice was the first time we really simulated a full scrum and was the first time i was in position as a lock. once i had my head in position and the front row fully got into place i noticed that the pressure on my ears made them hurt A LOT. i spoke to a veteran teammate and she said to get a scrum cap which i plan on doing but is it normal for this to happen?

i will note that i have multiple piercings on each ear but the pain wasn’t where they are, it was more so on the like wall on cartilage just outside of the conch

News Benhard Janse van Rensburg stood down indefinitely; Smith in fitness race

Fin Smith faces a race against time to be fit for England’s autumn opener Australia, but his midfield colleague Benhard Janse van Rensburg will play no part in the campaign.

Head coach Steve Borthwick has revealed Smith will be given until Wednesday to recover from the calf strain sustained on Northampton duty against Leicester on Saturday.

If England’s first-choice fly-half is ruled out, then George Ford or Marcus Smith will be installed as chief conductor for the Wallabies’ visit to Allianz Stadium on November 8.

“Fin has made good progress over the last couple of days and we’re hopeful of his availability against Australia, but that remains unclear at this stage,” Borthwick said.

The outlook on Janse van Rensburg is less positive, with the Bristol centre being stood down from full rugby duties indefinitely.

Van Rensburg has received two significant concussions in his last three games, the most recent of which saw him knocked unconscious when attempting a tackle on England colleague Henry Pollock against Northampton on October 3.

The South African-born centre made his Test debut against Fiji in July but must now wait until the Six Nations to win his third cap after being stood down from the second phase of the Nations Championship next month.

“Benhard has seen a specialist and been advised to take a number of weeks of non-contact work before his reintroduction to rugby over the coming weeks,” Borthwick said.

Flanker Guy Pepper will also miss the Tests against Australia, Japan and New Zealand, as well as finals weekend, because of the ankle injury he sustained playing for Bath against Gloucester on Friday.

There is better news over Seb Atkinson (knee) and Immanuel Feyi-Waboso (hamstring), however, with both players on course to be available for Gloucester and Exeter respectively this weekend.

England’s Leicester and Northampton contingent entered camp on Sunday, just 24 hours after engaging in a giant bust-up at half-time of a stormy East Midlands derby.

Tigers lock Ollie Chessum and Saints number eight Pollock were at the heart of the brawl and Borthwick wants to see the same commitment to the jersey at Twickenham this autumn.

“To be clear, nothing overtly illegal,” Borthwick said. “Do I like seeing intensity, passion, pride? Yes. Do I want the players to bring that passion and pride in an England shirt? Absolutely.

“These are young players who have grown up at their clubs and emerged as big players at their clubs. I want that in an England shirt.

“What I think is very good is that the players compete in the way they do one day and then they can come in and be great mates the next day. Ollie and Henry are great mates.

“I actually think it’s a real strength of the game to be able to compete like that in that kind of full-blooded encounter, as heated as that is, and then they’re perfectly fine.”

Borthwick has told his players this autumn will be instrumental in selection for next year’s World Cup.

“We’ve got 12 Tests now until the World Cup,” he said. “There are 10 Tests until I name our 33-man squad.

“This series of games is the last opportunity we have playing southern hemisphere opposition before then.

“I’m looking forward to seeing players compete and perform against this calibre of opposition.”
