My sales associate is leaving the AD

• Upvotes

Hey all. So my sales associate just reached out to me to let me know that they would be leaving the AD in a few days. I’m super bummed because not only were they phenomenal, getting me 3 allocations in less than a year, but I also built a really nice friendship with them. They did tell me to come into the store tomorrow so that they could introduce me to a sales associate they thought would be a really good fit for me, completely unprompted, which I really appreciate.

Now based on the many times my SA has gone above and beyond for me, not to mention that I think this will be a friendship that continues past them leaving(we’re going to grab drinks or something to celebrate their next career chapter) I have to imagine they’re going to try to set me up in as good of a position with this new SA I’m meeting as possible.

But I wanted to hear from anyone who’s been through a similar situation—is there any world where this is a seamless transition, or am I completely screwed and back to square one?

Rolliworks quote is in…

I have a 1957 6611 caliber 1055 on a yellow gold president band that I inherited from my grandfather. The band is very stretched out and needs to be remolded which apparently takes a lot of gold. Of course gold prices are through the roof right now, so the repair is going to be $6000.

What options do I have here? It seems like it would be impossible to find an appropriate band on the secondhand market. With the price of gold as it is, I suspect that a (new) replacement band would be cost prohibitive from the RSC if I could even get a 70 year-old band from them. I don’t want to scrap this watch because of the sentimental value and because I love it. And it’s not like I’m setting $6000 on fire because I will still have the gold band when it’s all done.

So I’m looking for you guys to reinforce my decision to suck it up and pay for the repair. What say you?

Sold 116233 to Watchfinder & Co

Post image

I sold my 116233 White Dial/Baton Marker/Super Jubilee this summer to Watchfinder & Co and regret it due to emotional attachment - I got married in it for one thing.

They informed me it was purchased by someone at the end of August. Would love to connect with whoever purchased the watch, if they end up seeing this post.

16610 SEL

• Upvotes

Paid to replace SEL that were worn, old had crown801crown in the SEL center. New ones say Lcrown X0Q center 93250 crown R. The link next to the SEL used to say 93250, new one does not. Are these codes unique to replacement parts, updated parts or anything particular within Rolex?

Help me pick my next Rolex!

Recently picked up a two-tone Root Beer and apparently I’ve developed a bit of a fascination with gold! Now eyeing a Datejust 36 (yes, another two-tone!).

Torn between three dials: Wimbledon, white Roman, and chocolate. Equally undecided between Everose and yellow gold.

I realize Everose might be a little redundant given my Root Beer, so I’m open to yellow gold. My only hesitation is that YG might look a bit too loud, especially against my darker brown skin tone. I’ve included a wrist shot including with my Root Beer for reference.

Would love some opinions on which dial and metal combination would work best with my complexion, while also adding some variety to my collection.

Thanks 🙏

Datejust 36 Blue Roman Dial - What Are the Wait Times Like?

Post image
4 Upvotes

I’m interested in picking up the new Datejust 36 with the blue Roman numeral dial and was wondering what the current wait times and demand are like.

For anyone who has recently inquired about or purchased one, how long did you have to wait? Is it relatively easy to get through an AD, or is there still significant demand for this particular dial?

Would love to hear about your experiences, especially from anyone who has purchased one since its release this year.

This Rolex 278278-0049 is so beautiful it made both of us tingle! Burgundy is her favorite color! She wanted to hate me because of the amount I spent, but she just fell in love instead!

Sourcing 10 Rolexes for a wedding party (5 TT Subs/GMTs, 5 Ladies DJs) — is this a fool’s errand with an AD?

Helping a close friend figure out logistics for wedding party gifts. The budget is there, but I need a reality check on AD allocations and timelines before walking in.

The Ask:

  • Groomsmen (5 watches): Two-Tone Submariners (Bluesy / Black) or Two-Tone GMTs (Root Beer / GRNR).
  • Bridesmaids (5 watches): Two-Tone Ladies' Datejusts (28mm or 31mm, flexible on dials/configurations).
  • Timeline: A few months out.
  • Spend History: Minimal - 2 watches but a good relationship overall with the store.

I know stainless steel sport models are non-starters, but does the two-tone/precious metal factor give us enough leverage for an AD to take this seriously? My main concern is the volume: will an AD even consider allocating five identical or near-identical professional models to a single buyer in that short of a window, or does anti-flipping policy flag bulk orders immediately- I assume not as these all trade at or a little below retail (I think)?

Looking for genuine feedback:

  1. Is an AD order of this scale even remotely possible on short notice?
  2. Would boutique management treat a 10-watch package deal as an attractive lump-sum sale, or just a headache?
  3. Should we skip the retail runaround entirely and just contract a trusted grey dealer to source the full set?

I hope to work with my AD, or another local one, and I think a $250K order would be enticing, but I wanted some advice.

Thanks all

Also, I realize this is a crazy situation; I'm just trying to help a friend out.

Friend buying a Rolex for me - any warranty or resale issues?

A friend is buying a brand-new Rolex for me through his AD in Singapore. I’ll receive the complete set immediately, including the warranty card and invoice.
The only difference is that the purchase will be under his name.
Will this cause any issues with:
- Claiming Rolex’s 5-year warranty or getting it serviced without involving him?
- Reselling it later, given the invoice is in his name?
- Any event that needs to prove ownership — are the original card and invoice enough?

Has anyone personally dealt with this? Would appreciate firsthand experiences, especially in Singapore.

Which watches open up at $25k spend history?

Curious what everybody thinks. I’ve spent a little over $25k at my ad and I’m wondering what I should get next. What models does a $25k history get you access to and what wait times are we looking at? GMTs, Daytonas (jk), colored op, land dweller?

Rolex Sub First Time Purchaser AD possible?

Looking to buy a first rolex as a graduation/job gift for myself. First time buying a rolex and would really prefer not going grey. Is it even worth it and possible to get a sub with no purchase history? Date + no date black, and starbucks are all fine.

Or is it worth going for an easier model like an AK or explorer? (though id strongly prefer one of the 3 sub models)

Really want the watch before April..

Atlanta and NYC btw..

Need strap recommendations for my explorer 1 40mm

Hey all. I have a sub date that I love wearing most days, and I was thinking of putting my explorer 1 40 on a rubber strap of some kind to spice it up and at some more versatility to my collection. Totally open to any recommendations, the only thing I will say is I’ve heard some pretty bad things about helvetus straps.

I think a brighter color with a little pop would be fun—even white or a powder blue or something. But feel free to talk me out of that—truly any recs are greatly appreciated.

Engine Turned vs. Fluted Bezel

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hey everyone, curious to see if anyone has had the same experience as I did. Several months ago I treated myself to my first Rolex - a 1984 Datejust 16030. I walked in expecting to go with a two tone 16233 with a fluted bezel, but when I tried it on I didn’t like it. Then, I tried on the watch I ended up buying with an engine turned bezel. The more I thought about it the more I came to the realization that the bezel was the main thing that turned me off. Not sure if I thought it was to flashy or what… but what do you prefer?

Explorer 36 New Vs Old

Decided on explorer 36, as the 39 and 40 were too big. I know that the 36 fits my wrist size well and looks good, but simply to my eye it just looks a little small or dainty? I was wondering if anyone felt that the 114270 models looked or felt slightly bigger or less dainty compared to the newer 124270.

I also read that the older model tapers from 20 to 16 while new tapers from 19-14

Attached pictures from a video I saw in regards comparing the two and the older does look slightly bigger unless I’m just going crazy.

Short wait: Explorer 1, 40mm

Post image

I’ve loved this watch for years and have had a couple earlier iterations. I always bought them off the grey market/used but this time I wanted to get one from the AD. Lots of people are ambivalent about the explorer 1 but, to my eyes, it’s such a wonderful watch. I’m an understated guy so I’m not a fan of watches with the cyclops (for me).

This watch will pair with my speedy pro as a nice, tight, 2 watch collection. I tried the 36mm but that’s too small for my tastes.

First-time buyer in Melbourne: Realistic wait time for a Datejust 36 (Aubergine dial)?

Heading into the Melbourne boutiques soon to try and get on the list for a Datejust 36 with the aubergine dial. Zero purchase history with Rolex, completely starting from scratch here.

Anyone in Aus, especially Melbourne locals, know what kind of wait times first-time buyers are looking at for this specific configuration?

Are the colored/aubergine dials way harder to score than a basic black or silver, or do they pop up semi-regularly?

Also keen on any local AD advice. Trying to avoid walking in and getting immediately written off. Cheers!
