Serious Anybody else hate living in Henrietta? 🫩

I hate Henrietta. It's a strip mall hellhole devoid of an ounce of natural or architectural beauty. I'm so jealous of my friends who go to school in cities and towns that don't feel like satire of modern capitalism. None of the buildings on campus are remotely aesthetically pleasing.

The school is for the most part solid in my opinion and the campus is decent, and if you have friends it doesn't matter too much what your surroundings look like. But it's still a bit depressing to think about.

H*ckpost I don't think this will ever happen, but we need to make a RIT version of this video. "It’s time to come back to Firefox. The Internet you loved is still here."

Is therapy for students free?

I thought I saw somewhere that there is free therapy services for students. I’ve never really believed in therapy and I’m not suicidal, but I have a lot of feelings that I’ve tried to work out for a while and it’s just not working. Any suggestions?

Where do people usually hang out at night?

Hello! I’m a first year and I haven’t had the best luck socializing and making friends, and I’ve kinda been going at it by myself as I’m sure a few other people have. Late at night I usually go on a walk around campus and I was wondering if there’s places people usually gather to socialize and hang out on campus at night?

Where to look for carpool to Southeast for winter break?

Hi y'all,

I'm a first-year student without a car, and I want to go home to Western North Carolina over winter break. If my family needs to book a flight, we would like to do so sooner rather than later, but I'm wondering whether I might be able to find others from NC/SC/TN/Southern Virginia who could let me ride with them if I chip in for gas. Is there a rideshare program for this sort of thing? If so, how would I connect with it/them?

Thanksgiving Break Happenings?

Good evening everyone!

I am a Wellesley student, but I am going to visit my sister at RIT over Thanksgiving break. Are there any fun activities happening on campus that the two of us can go to together, or will the scene be dead?

Also, does anyone know if any art galleries will be open on campus over the break?

Local Tutoring/ Academic Coach Recommendations

I’m a fellow College student at another Rochester college, looking for recommendations on outside campus resources for CSC classes.

Can anyone recommend a person or place around Rochester. where I could receive outside tutoring in my CSC classes, specifically routing and switching, Linux, or powerhsell

Ive been dealing with an unexpected health issue, have two procedures scheduled this week, so I have swapped to remote classes, but unfortunately I just do not learn the same as being in person. I also work full time 9-5 M-F.

Even an outside College Success Coach that helps keep me stay organized and ontop of my classes would be helpful as well atp.

My grades are good for now, but I am afraid of them slipping now that I’m having to play catch up and not as ontop of the material as I normally am.

Any help is appreciated!

Eduroam blocking things

On my phone when I download apps in the play store while connected to eduroam they hang on pending until I shut off WiFi and they download instantly. I also can't watch YouTube videos on eduroam on the YouTube app because they won't load. YouTube is fine on my PC however. Does rit block some sort of play store or Android background service? Has anyone experienced this? Should I just open a ticket

bit of a silly question but. i like singing and want to sing but im a bit embarrassed to sing where people can hear me,, that also just seems annoying to do. is there anywhere on campus thats like.. soundproof?? and that i can get into without like reserving the space or whatever. or would singing in my car in one of the sad parking lots off campus be my best bet

Classes Any thermo 1 professors I should definitely avoid?

The only options for MECE110 next semester are Qian Xue, Ghazal Dehghani, and Thomas Keller. They all have few or no ratings on RMP and I want to check with people who have taken the course to make sure my life isn't torture lol

Transferring into RIT for Individualized Study?

Hello! I’ve already made a post here before about transferring into RIT, but I have some questions regarding the individualized study program at RIT.

So in terms of credits that I’m transferring over from my previous college — I’m worried that a lot of them won’t be able to count if I choose to go into a specific major. I’m unable to really pay for additional years at RIT, so having as many credits transfer over would be ideal. I came from an interdisciplinary school, so a lot of the classes that I took aren’t specialized towards a specific major.

I looked into the SOIS program and was intrigued, because the course program is mostly general electives and it’s a choose your own adventure sort of deal. I do eventually want to come out of RIT with some sort of education in art and game development, but I’m unsure how reasonable that would be by applying to specific programs.

I was wondering if I’m transferring into RIT, would it be a good idea to consider applying for the SOIS program? Would more of my credits be transferable to RIT and would I eventually be able to graduate even without taking a major’s full curriculum? Also, what is the general acceptability into the program itself?

Any advice would be great, thank you! C:

Jobs RIT HOUSING

DO NOT WORK HOUSING OFFICE IN GRACE WATSON HALL!

Ignore the hiring email, it is not worth it at all. This is your warning from a previous employee. Do you ever wonder why they’re always hiring every semester? It’s because their employees quit within one or two semesters, myself and my friend included! From my time being there 2 people were fired, about 5-7 people quit, and the current employees mostly want to quit but don’t have a job lined up yet

From my experience/opinion: You get a source of income, but at what cost? You will be constantly micromanaged, treated like a child, and berated for mistakes by some of the full time staff, including your direct supervisor. The full time staff is very toxic. It’s a fear based leadership style and you aren’t allowed to question anything. They show favoritism and will show it to those who kiss their behinds

The list could go on. It’s a horrible environment and no student should have to go through that for a $200 biweekly paycheck
