So I’ve never owned a nice rifle. I had a Savage Axis in .308 when I was a teenager, and I hated that thing. It kicked like a mule, wouldn’t hold zero, and grouped like a dinner plate at 50 yards. Needless to say, I sold it.

Now I’m in a position to buy myself a “nicer” rifle as an adult, and I’ve settled on a Tikka T3x. It’ll primarily be used for whitetail and mule deer.
For some reason, I have an aversion to 6.5 Creedmoor, but .243 is perfectly fine with me. I’m just worried that if I go with .243, I’ll eventually wish I had something bigger. On the other hand, I remember that old .308 beating the hell out of me.

I shoot a 12 gauge pretty regularly, and magnum buckshot and slugs don’t bother me much. My wood-stocked Mossberg 500 feels more like a push than a punch.

For those of you who have shot both, how noticeable is the recoil difference between .243 and .308 in a hunting rifle? Would you go with .243, .308, or something in between, like 7mm-08?

I have a deer hunt scheduled for the 1st weekend in December. I want to take a suppressed bolt action 308 for that hunt. I don't have one and am looking for recommendations. I guess the budget is $3k for gun, suppressor and optics. Any suggestions? Is that doable to get decent accuracy, range and noise suppression?

I recently won a Bergara chambered in .300 PRC. I picked it up because I’d like to start doing some bigger-game hunts in the future, but I primarily hunt whitetail here in Pennsylvania.

I know .300 PRC is definitely more gun than you need for whitetail, but is there any reason I shouldn’t use it for deer? Most of my shots are in the 50–250 yard range.

The only ammo I could find locally was 245-grain. I’m curious what bullet/weight you guys are using.

I’m also considering suppressing it. For anyone running a suppressor on a .300 PRC, how do you like it?

Inherited what I think is a Mauser but would appreciate a confirmation and more details, like what it’s chambered in, if you can.

So i want a sharps rifle but dont have 3 grand to spend on it let alone use the rifle there to pretty but I have a henry 45-70 I want to do some modifications to it Id like to extend the barrel to 30 inches dose anyone at all know who could get me a barrel and install it via gunsmith thanks ?

So happy with this rifle. I surprised my nephew and we finally had time to sight it in.

First 3 shots and bam 0.5-0.7 inch grouping from the Hornady Precision Hunter ELDX.

Yes, I found it on ammoseek for cheap, and I know not really an efficient way to store ammo but I like dumping bullets into cans for fun

I just got my hands on this B-14 HMR. I’m trying to adjust the length of pull to the shortest possible length, and I got the short screws from Bergara’s website, but I still can’t get the recoil pad tightened down all the way. In the second pic you can see the gap between the stock and the recoil pad but those screws are as tight as I can get them without stripping them. Has anyone else ran into this issue? Thank you guys for the help in advance I appreciate any tips.
