Post image

Empty dish put on the floor

Fill it, find out what's in store

Since this seems to be quite a tricky one, here's a hint:

The riddle is referring to an expression or idiom that contains the answer.

Ok, based on your clue and the fact that you said gossip was close thematically I'm going to go with ear as in "putting your ear to the ground" to mean figuring out what's going on (in store)

Great answer! It isn't quite right. Are you saying that gossip is a dish? You're pretty close though.

That isn't right but it is quite funny. I didn't get the connection to "in store" the first time I read your guess. I suppose if I have to quibble to distinguish between that and the answer I'm looking for, it would be that you don't really put it on the floor to fill it. Or at least I don't. I'd only put it down if it was full and heavy.

Bath tub or Dust pan but just wild guesses because I can’t figure out the second half of the clue.

No, it's neither of them. Here's a small hint:The reference to a dish is a bit less straightforward than that.

A scale?

No, it's not that. I don't see why it would be on the floor or how the second line would fit.
