Lots of people recommend Sierra TMKs, though if yotes is as big as your getting you really couldn't go wrong with any real hunting bullet. But Sierra Game Kings, Sierra TMKs both work well. You could probably even do pretty well for prairie dogs and the like with the regular Sierra Match Kings, though 62 or 77gr will be up to you.

Some other popular bullet selections i've heard from my recent post included Speer Gold Dot, and Hornady ELD-Xs, or Bergers. They also recommended Barnes TTSX or TSX but that will be way overkill for what you need.

I actually use barns lrxs for my 7 rem mag and they work well but there a bit costly for a varmint load

53gr Vmax is a classic, one of the few 224 varmint bullets with a BT. Have used game kings for years on yotes, 55s and 62s. They have pretty think jackets and is a good balance of penetration and expansion without exploding. Tipped match/gamekings are also great options. The 69 SMK is another classic that works pretty well on yotes

Why that weight for the vmax?

The 53 has a boat tail and a tip which gives it a significant bump in BC compared to most other options in that varmint bullet weight class. It’s the best 22 cal Vmax IMO. They explode like the other 50gr offerings and are a great dual use case bullet for yotes and varmints. Not the biggest fan of Hornady but they nailed that projectile and it’s held up well over the years

For AR mags and an 8-twist, the 73 grain Hornady ELDMs shoot pretty darn well IME

Edit - actually read the second half of your post. The ELDMs are match bullets. Not sure what their terminal characteristics are, but I’d personally be confident with them going for the small game you mention

I use 77gr SMK on prairie dogs and coyotes and it does the job, usually not a pink mist like lighter faster varmint bullets but the 77s are just so damn accurate out of my Larue barrel.
