He did his own thing while the other's got their photos taken, I have some pictures of what he was up to if anyone is interested in seeing that.

Overall I'm pretty satisfied with this years photos. I let all the rats onto my bed and just took photos whenever they went close to or inside of the pumpkin 🎃 I most likely do another little session with just the older boys yesterday, because they were the ones who actually went into the pumpkin and seemed relaxed and like they were having fun

Hi,

When Suus drinks from this bottle, she often does this movement to lift the bottle higher while drinking. Shes the only rat from my 4 who does so, and shes significantly bigger than the other 3.

I checked the bottle and water does seem to be flowing.

Does anyone know what might cause her to do this?

I can’t tell how he feels about being pet in the bed, I’m a new boy mom I only had female before so I’m not quit sure. I know my girls would back up immediately if they doesn’t like it but idk about boys

Hello lovely rattitors, I’m not currently a rat owner but hope to have some in the future. Right now I’ve been going through a period of severe depression and looking at everyone’s rats being silly is one of the only things that makes me feel any positive emotion at all.
Please, if anyone has silly or cute rat pictures feel free to comment with your favourites! I’d love to see them all. Also please everyone snuggle your rat they are BEAUTIFUL critters!

Regarding Hazel's head tilt from my last post; shes completely fine. My vet was on vacation so I couldn't get her in until today, but he did a pretty thorough work up on her and shes basically just old 😭😭 she did get put on an antibiotic and an anti inflammatory just in case the infection was hiding.

But because of how severe her tilt is, she has been moved to my newest cage; the shop cage.

I adopted a new rat, Beanie, last week and my mischief was fine with her for the most part, except for one of my rats. Butter would attack Beanie to the point of blood, so Beanie has just been living on my bed and was going to work with me in a carrier. It took almost a week for the cage to get delivered, but I got it built yesterday and decided that Hazel would be a good companion for her. Theyre similar in age, and I don't want to risk Hazel falling and hurting herself in my large cage at home.

They are getting along great and I caught them snuggling a few minutes ago

Also Hazel weighs 1.06lbs, the vet said that she is completely healthy and that shes just a big fat girl.

I want to know everyone's opinion. No judgment, but come on most of us prefer a gender of rat. I started with boys. I have had a number of rats, boys and girls. I took a break and now I am starting a new colony. I chose boys. Weirdly enough I don't mind boy smell to girl smell. It has been my huge thing when cleaning a cage. I find that boys have a poop spot and a separate pee spot. All of my girls would only go on one FLAT spot and made the smell terrible.

What is your preference on rats and why?

Not my rat pictured. I want to buy ledges for my rats cage, but Amazon only has pine ones and they don't say kiln dried. There is only one kiln dried one and it's super expensive. What do you do for ledges in your rat cage?
