π¬ Discussion Saw Ed in Hamburg last night. Amazing show, depressing turnout
I went to the Hamburg show last night at the Laeiszhalle. I hate to say it but I feel sorry for Ed. I didn't even have to use my balcony seat because it was basically sit where you want. I'd say the concert hall was about 1/3 filled.
He was obviously affected by it. He made multiple comments about it "being a monday" and at one point making a thinly veiled joke saying "I don't even go out on mondays." He also said something like "what a beautiful venue, it could have been smaller though!" Ouch.
But I also feel this subreddit hasn't been giving him love while he's on tour. I feel like if Thom was on tour, there'd be posts everyday about it.
With his incredible band, he is doing his Blue Morpho album justice! I wish more people could see it. There were some peak moments that felt like I was watching Great Gig In The Sky on the Pulse tour.
I know this isnt worse than having your tour cancelled one week in due to Covid, but its gotta sting a little.

π¬ Discussion Proposal to ban X.com links
I've noticed other communities implementing restrictions on links to X (formerly Twitter), and I think it aligns with the values many Radiohead fans hold. Even a change like allowing only screenshots instead of direct links could help reduce traffic to that platform. Itβs a small but meaningful step to consider.

π¬ Discussion Fantano listed Radiohead as an example of an artist with 5 classic albums. Do you agree?
A viewer told him that no artist has 5 classic albums, but he disagreed and brought up Radiohead along with other artists in this video.

π¬ Discussion Anyone ever met Thom? If so, what was it like?
Iβm always curious if my (albeit most likely flawed) perception I get of Thom through his music is accurate to what heβs like in reality.
So, to those who have met him, what was your perception of him? It could be literally anything: personality, vibe, appearance, etc. Feed my curiosity, if you donβt mind! :)

π¬ Discussion Something is bothering me and I've realised this is a real problem.
Look, I love Radiohead's music as much as the next guy in this sub, they are my top 3 bands/artists EVER. But we, as a community, cannot keep ignoring this. Thom's temper tantrum about the BDS movement, also related to a concert they held in Israel (2017 I believe?) - when he was even criticised by Roger Waters; their complete refusal to even acknowledge the GENOCIDE of the indigenous Palestinian population, and now Jonny's recent statement about the cancellation of the UK shows... not to mention Jonny's lunatic zionist wife, and his collaboration with an Israeli artist.
Do people not see the dissonance between their words/actions and their art? You're telling me the same group of people who birthed albums such as OK COMPUTER and HAIL TO THE THIEF are not capable of critical thinking and recognising their silence is hypocritical? At this point, after 19 months of genocide in Gaza, anything coming from their mouths is tone deaf. I'm sorry.
And if you guys want to give me shit for this post, I will only tell you this: you shouldn't be afraid of criticising your favourite musicians. Because this isn't okay. Their silence and complacency is not okay.
