Hey everyone, I noticed that Nacho Daddy (Basilio Badillo street) plays concerts and music movies every Tuesday during Happy Hour. I know they've shown stuff recently like Roger Waters' The Wall and Talking Heads' Stop Making Sense. They are playing The Rocky Horror Picture Show tonight and I want to check it out but I have a quick question before heading over:
Does anyone know if they just play these music nights on the regular, smaller sports TVs around the bar or do they set up a proper big projector screen for it? Thanks in advance 🍻

Family of 4 coming for the month, looking at Mezcale area for an apartment. prices seem good. trying to stay under or around 33000mx. Wondering what that area is actually like, we have only been to Bucerias a few times in resorts. first time on this side doing the airbnb thing. Also wondering what the safety factor is like for using a rental car as we'll be a full month and want to explore some of the further out beaches to the north and Uber might get a little pricey doing multiple a day. Car rentals and driving around Playa Del Carmen was very easy / safe and we've spent a few winter months over there so I'm kind of basing my thoughts on those experiences.

We are looking for at tours that go over the Jorullo bridge. We hope to have one that goes on actual off-road trails and not just manicured gravel roads. Has anyone been on one and had this experience?

Hi friends- I’m excited to be traveling to PV next month. I’ve travelled around a lot of Mexico, but not this area. I wanted to stay in two or three areas, and was thinking Sayulita, Puerto Vallarta and maybe one other spot.
I’ll be there solo for my birthday. I haven’t travelled alone more than two days, once, since I became a mom, and my kid is eight now lol.

Would you stay in Sayulita, PV and Yalapa? Or another small town?

My priorities are:
1) able to swim in the ocean, or at least float near the shore safely.
2) walkable areas to get food and good third wave coffee (I don’t really drink so not needing bars).
3) inexpensive Airbnb near beach/walkable to beach or even a hostel that’s clean works if it’s next to the beach.
4) I will want to stay the last two nights in PV in a nicer accommodation for my bday/end of the trip, but not an all inclusive.

I’d like to:
1) go horse back riding
2) go on a nice hike
3) swim in ocean
4) eat good fresh food - faves are tacos, sopas, fish, guacamole, fresh fruit, salads, and locally grown food.

I want to locate a good hairstylist who is skilled with layers, thick hair, and styling. I’ve googled several that seem GREAT at coloring, but when I look at the galleries of hair cuts, I’m not as impressed. Does anyone have a hair stylist they love? This is what I’m going for ^

As a follow-up to the previous post, what would be better with a toddler .. Westin Vallarta or Velas Vallarta? Our priorities are good and safe food options, staff and service, access to beach, good pools, and options to venture out so we are not feeling stuck in the same environment..planning a 10 day trip during Christmas.

Family of four with 2 kids under 4. I've read the suggestions to cross the bridge but looking at the tiktoks it doesnt look like an great time with kids ans carry ons. We are going in November and staying at Riu Vallarta. I also saw a post with "official taxi prices" saying it would costs us 1.2k pesos. I booked a hotel and flight package so I cant use the Riu shuttles.

I'm all for paying for convenience but for 1.2k pesos 1 way I wonder if private service or even a rental would have more value.

Are there any private transport companies that are recommended? What car rental companies are best at the airport?

I’ve been doing too much research for a trip and the reviews are so mixed so thought I’d make my own post.
I’m looking for an AI resort in PV that would be good for us with a baby and a 3 year old.
All we want is decent food, clean rooms, and some good pools/beach access/activities to keep us mildly entertained for a few days.
We aren’t looking for anything fancy and are pretty easy going/don’t travel much so standards are not high. Looking at some of the lower priced options that aren’t awful.

I’ve narrowed it down to Paradise Village (but worried about timeshare pushiness) or Crown Paradise Club (but this one has mixed reviews online).

Any recommendations or places to definitely avoid?

I was at the currency exchange to get pesos for our upcoming trip and was told the 20 peso bill is obsolete and has been replaced with a coin that they do not have. Where can I get a bunch of coins for tipping upon arrival? I am staying at an AI resort, would the front desk have coins?

Hello. My family of four is traveling to Amapas and Sayulita in mid-February. We travel twice for tours,going from Amapas 30-40 min to the Puerto Magico.

Because of how much driving we anticipate I rented a car from Sixt with full coverage. I’ve read to carry copies of drivers license and passport should we get pulled over. I’ve read it’s not smart to hand originals over to officers.

How corrupt are the police in PV? Are tourists really targeted, even if following the rules? What’s the honest take on driving ourselves vs Uber?

• spoke excellent English (grew up in US)
• safe driver
• great tour guide - gave us history and local perspective
• knew preferred businesses and restaurants
• did not "clock watch" (our tour went 30m long due to traffic, we tipped accordingly)

I searched the thread but there's surprisingly little about whale watching. At least that came up.

I'll be there in mid-December and want to go on a small boat whale watching tour. We're staying in Punta da mita so it would be preferred if it left from there, but we are willing to drive to Puerto Vallarta for the best tour.

Could anyone recommend small boat tours like the kind that get close to the humpbacks, preferably in La Punta da mita area but also Puerto Vallarta? Thank you!

We’ll be going to PV this upcoming week ( 10/28Wednesday-11/2 Monday) and will be bringing our 1.5yr old with us. I’ve been reading a lot of threads about what to do but unsure if they are suitable for a toddler and a pregnant and nauseous mom.
I saw you can take water taxis to calm beaches but the thought of it not having life jackets or something happening spooks me.
We’ll be staying at at all inclusive but have never been the type to stay at the hotel but now with a toddler I’m lost as to what we can do. ( I saw a zoo and a botanical garden idk if they’re worth it?)
Any tips would be appreciated.

I am taking my first ever solo trip from 11/20 to 11/25. From what I have read making new friends appears to be relatively easy. I plan on doing some fishing. What are my fellow Canadians thinking about PV prices these days?

Hi - it’s our first time going to PVR, and looking for a super easy, brainless sunny vacation with our 3 boys (ages 4-8). Not looking to explore, not looking for “the most” delicious food - I just want something super easy food-wise, super clean, fun for the kids and convenient.

The costs for all inclusive are pretty crazy when we have to book a suite (range looks like minimum $1800/nt for our dates!?) so I looked at Vidanta and it looks compelling, as we’re not huge drinkers, but seeing so many negative Reddit posts about their experiences. (Run down kids pools, timeshare pressure)

I’m at a loss, please help!!!

- any all-inclusive that is worth it?
- is Vidanta our best option?

Any other family with 3 kids who found an amazing place?
