Just finished this one and WOW what a story!!
If you are looking for a podcast like the Curtis Flowers season of In the Dark, you're going to want to give this a listen.
There's a tie in to the A&E show The First 48 as well. If you're like me and love the show, be prepared to see behind the curtain and not be happy with the view. I was so disappointed to see some familiar detectives doing some pretty shoddy policework and some very questionable interview techniques.
I will ad this caveat...it definitely does not have great production. It's her first podcast and things get clunky. There are cringe worthy ad spots where you can hear 5 seconds of mouse clicking to bring up her script and then awkward silence at the end of the ad and more mouse clicking. She could definitely benefit from a better mic and a better editor, as much of the dialogue feels like it's been spliced together by an amateur, feeling very "clunky" at times.
That being said, this story is incredible. I didn't think I'd find another case where a journalist makes a real difference in a legal case since listening to In The Dark, and then here comes Everything They Missed.
I almost gave up on this pod because of the issues I listed above and I'm so glad I didn't. You'll be outraged, shocked at the police misconduct (or not), hopeful, angry, sick to your stomach, and more. Every time I thought I knew how this story was going to go, I was wrong...all the way up to and including the last episode.
