plano switched off its 90+ flock cameras in september. the map still shows 155 in plano. i mapped them
plano turned off more than 90 flock cameras in september after abbott pulled the state grant that paid for them (about $300k a year from the texas anti-gang program). chief drain said flock would come take them down but it "may take them a while."
volunteers on openstreetmap (the deflock project) have logged 201 plate readers inside plano. 155 of them are flock, 27 are motorola and 19 they couldn't name a maker for.
only 16 of the 155 are tagged plano pd on the map. the other 139 have no owner tagged at all. some are probably the city's cameras still on the poles, and some could be hoas, apartments or businesses that buy their own and share with police. the map can't tell you which.
most were logged recently too: 85 in 2025 and 69 so far this year. that's volunteers catching up, not install dates.
for scale, plano has more flock cameras on the map than anywhere else in collin county. frisco is next with 111, and wylie is taking down its 6 at the end of the month.
the map is where a volunteer logged a camera but there's really no telling if it's switched on.
disclosure since it's my job: i work at MAIA, the mapping tool i used.
