Between the Sphere run, Trey playing with orchestras, and five nights at MSG built around a theme connecting Phish’s history to the music and culture of the ’90s, 2026 is shaping up to be a peak year for Phish.
The hype around MSG 100 is real, but I think this summer’s MSG run deserves to be appreciated in its own right. Five shows, no repeats, and a concept that gave fans something to anticipate, speculate about, and discover together along the way.
I had the same seat all five nights, surrounded by many of the same people. We compared notes, traded theories, shared memories, and looked for clues. You didn’t have to catch every reference to enjoy being part of it. That’s part of what makes this community so special.
We all get to play along if we want to.
Phish keeps giving us reasons to pay attention, then finding new ways to surprise us. And somehow, they keep delivering even in a year when they’ve already given us so much. Maybe that’s why the hype around MSG 100 feels so exciting. It’s not just a milestone number. It’s the history, the people, the memories, and the possibility that something we can’t yet imagine is waiting for us.
I wrote a very long recap of the five-night run on Substack, covering MSG shows #92–96. It gets into the anticipation, the five great shows, Knicks connections, random personal memories, and plenty of thoughts about what makes these shows and this community special.
It ended up being wayyy longer than I ever imagined I’d write.
If you were at the run or just like reading about Phish, maybe you’ll enjoy it.
