I think he was joking about the government making iron man suits

u/Fidodo Aug 17 '18
Lets be honest though, the government 100% has some iron man projects going on.

GE was working with the US government in the 60's to develop this kind of thing in the form of the Hardiman.

Regardless of politics, he's got to be one of the coolest presidents we've ever had
59
u/17954699 Aug 18 '18
Man, I forgot that Presidents used to do little things like that - have science shows at the WH, go talk to students about their future, highlight the best of American industry and innovation and art, talk to the press normally and to inform. Nowadays it seems all the President does is tweet, get angry, have a scandal and tweet some more.
32
u/brett6781 Aug 18 '18
my biggest hope is that when Trump gets either impeached or voted out that the next president goes on an international apology tour like what the fucking idiot republicans claimed Obama did after Bush's presidency.
Only this time, I hope whoever replaces Trump actually says that it is an apology tour for the immature, reckless, and moronic few years with Trump and republicans controlling the WH and hill. Our standing internationally has been knocked several pegs down because of the amount of bullshit that is spewed from the white house, and because of the Congressional republicans willingness to go along with it for the sake of party over what's actually good for the nation.
Talk about a bunch of spineless little shits.

I think we can say even with politics, given how low the bar is right now.
2
u/Cane-toads-suck Aug 18 '18
I loved him and was jealous af! I thought he did a great job running the US and when I used to read how much American's wanted him gone, I always wished he'd come Down Under! Our Prime Ministers suck! Easy on the eyes too I must add!

LOL. Some jokes get funnier with time.

u/lsaz Aug 17 '18
In a press conference:
"I have a very important anouncement to make, basically we're building iron man"
Or something like that.

u/rant_casey Aug 18 '18 edited Aug 18 '18
Let me start off by saying that I was sorely tempted to wear a tan suit today...
The thing that Obama undisputedly has over any president in living memory is impeccable comedic timing and delivery.
edit: Oh dear god...
I have enjoyed working with all of you. That does not, of course, mean that I’ve enjoyed every story that you have filed, but that’s the point of this relationship. You’re not supposed to be sycophants, you’re supposed to be skeptics, you’re supposed to ask me tough questions. You’re not supposed to be complimentary, but you’re supposed to cast a critical eye on folks who hold enormous power and make sure that we are accountable to the people who sent us here, and you have done that.
And you have done it for the most part in ways that I could appreciate for fairness, even if I didn’t always agree with your conclusions. And having you in this building has made this place work better. It keeps us honest, it makes us work harder. You have made us think about how we are doing what we do and whether or not we’re able to deliver on what’s been requested by our constituents.
What in the hell has happened to us

We went from a class act, intelligent, articulated, loving president and person to the complete opposite all because people didn't want a woman as President.

I think if I watch that I will legit cry.

u/donnysaysvacuum Aug 18 '18
A couple years ago, I would roll my eyes at a statement like this and think, "ugh, why do people worship politicians?" And yet, today I totally agree with you.
43
u/flipplup Aug 18 '18
Just watched it. Cried. Setting aside everything, I miss just having a president that doesn’t immediately attack or divide up those who criticize or disagree.

You can't even see trump being questioned. He's a coward that's too scared of many things, including the media, Mueller, the tapes from various women that recorded him, Putin, and so on.
4
u/breauxbreaux Aug 18 '18
the tapes from various women
I mean let's be honest, he's also just scared of women in general.
-19
u/Lizmo88 Aug 18 '18
When you have the entire media literally married to your administration like Obama did, you get to know all the questions beforehand.. How do ppl NOT know how many of his administration were married to the big guys at almost all media outlets?
When you go from knowing what you're going to be asked, to an entire media STILL married to Obama's ppl, after Obama got busted for trying to sabotage Trump's campaign from before day one, you can't be so smooth at your answers.. Try thinking for yourself. Not being mean or an ass.. But look who the media is, and who the administration is.. Put the pieces together.. It's not hard, but somehow ppl can't understand.

Several presidents from now, remember this.
Don’t be swayed by “I’ll lower your taxes” or other false promises.
If they are not reasonable, thoughtful humans, nothing they say matters.

He seems like a nice dude. I don't know about his politics (because i'm not american), but I know he represented the country well especially on foreign visits (particularly with the Queen). I've tried my hardest to be a fan of Trumps (I think I was at the end of my edgy phase), but the two don't compare at all.
Again, I don't know about the politics, but I have a feeling Hillary would have at least been semi-decent as far as human interaction goes. Maybe that is wrong, I did watch the debates between the pair and she seemed to have a bit more...poise. Also, now that i've brought her up, why don't you hear the 'lock her up' thing anymore? Was that just a meme or something? Has the stuff with Trump affected that (maybe if his fans realise that her actions aren't that bad considering recent events?)? But yeah, I don't know the politics and i'm a bit out of the loop.

u/Keepitsimplestupid22 Aug 18 '18
I really think trump is the biggest embarrassment in American history. We are loosing ground on a daily basis with this guy. With a lot of hope we can turn this ship around and get back on course.

I get sad remembering pre 9/11 and PATRIOT Act life.

u/17954699 Aug 18 '18
Ah, pre-9/11, where our biggest problem was what to do with our massive budget surplus and all the worldwide peace and prosperity, outside of that small conflict going on in Afghanistan...
