Lyrics For my Dad
For my Dad. Absolutely love it. The Dad is my Dad’s handwriting. Wanted to share with the group

Very nice. ❤️ Wish I had a dad that was worthy of a tattoo. I struck out in that department. That’s life. Hoping all those with great Dad’s excel and enjoy their special relationships.

I always took it as an ode to aging and gaining a perspective on how your parents are just the same individual beings on a similar journey; my parents didn’t have anything “figured out yet” and they probably still don’t.
“Release me” from the expectations I’ve created for myself from what I’ve thought you’d think of me

Isn’t the dad in the song not great?

Not sure. You might be right there. I know Ed has a picture of his Dad in his dressing room before shows. My father never earned that right. To each his own. That’s what is so great about music.

Ed hated his stepdad and never really knew his dad but I think it’s clear from his comments in interviews, on stage and his lyrics that he feels a deep connection to him through music.
I’ve always thought “can you see me now” was talking about being “like (him) somehow” not seeking admiration but rather connection through time and space.

The most obvious is his song called 'On My Way' on his solo album 'Earthling'.
It's a duet between Eddie Vedder and his biological father. The vocals were on an old disc that was given to him by a bandmate of his father's best friend.

Beautiful. Lost my pop at 17 and that song genuinely helped me get through it. To make it make as much sense as it possibly could to a lost kid.

Lost my dad at 18 in 94. Release gets me every time.

I feel this so much. As someone who lost their father in 2015. PJ was big time for me that year.

My daughter and I both have similar lyrics tattooed with each other’s hand writing.

Songs about Dads always get me. My Dad used to always ask me to play Father and Son by Cat Stevens and I’ve only been able to play it once and that was the night of his funeral. Release always gets me, there’s also a song by Idles with the lyric “I am my fathers son, his shadow weighs a ton”, I’ve often thought about getting lyrics from this songs on me, I have a few song lyric tattoos and these might fit in.

I love this. I am one of the lucky ones who has an incredible father, and Release might just be his favorite PJ song.

That’s fantastic, very powerful. May Inask why is DAD in a diff style? Does it mean something to u?
