Idk what to do with it, could be fun to rip a bowl for every pacers win, thoughts?

I live in some country across the ocean, where NBA games typically air on 1-3 AM. I was always a Pacers fan and my father was a fan by association because he wanted to support me. After the 25' Finals I was able to get an Haliburton jersey with the Finals patch (by Fanatics).

Two months ago my father was diagnosed with cancer. he's over 70, and treatment isn't easy. It was always our dream to watch the Pacers together but there was always something, professional life, me starting a family, etc. As he starts treatment today, I gave him my jersey and told him that once he recovers, we'll fly to the US and watch the Pacers together. Hali is a strong symbolic choice because he's undergoing (a different type of) recovery as well.

What is a low effort post? Just trying to show the screen grab from the news feed lol.

This 1997 burning of Reggie Miller’s Geist house is probably not new to most of this sub but I was shocked to learn how close this franchise came to losing its best player to terrible acts of violence. Reggie and his wife obviously weren’t in the home at the time their 14,000 sq ft house was burglarized and set ablaze, but the arsonists didn’t know that and this story could’ve ended very differently. They lost almost all of their personal possessions and the criminals were never caught. Miller received copycat letters for months from people who claimed they were the ones who set his house on fire. This came on the heels of an underwhelming season where they missed the playoffs, and Miller was in contract negotiations at the time. He almost left the Pacers and retired altogether. This clip from the 2004 episode of “Beyond the glory” interviews Reggie about those events.

Still the greatest game I’ve watched. I ran around my house screaming after this went in.

While everything that truly matters tonight is a massive success, did we quietly lose our Penn Station victory promo? It was little tradition with my Dad to occasionally treat ourselves on the back of a Pacers’ dub and now it seems those days are gone.

If only we’d known, I would’ve appreciated that final sub just a little more…
