So I ended up at the Playmate exactly once out of curiosity as I've never been to a strip club before or since.

Main thoughts included "that's it?" and "these women seem to be working awfully hard to not make much."

One worker chatted with me a bit, said she wasn't making any money since the lapdance area was just a row of couches off to one side. She pointed them out and I definitely could have seen anyone using the area. It was empty.

As someone who will cheerfully admit I enjoy seeing people without their clothes on, I was very underwhelmed.

Not sure if that's the average strip club experience but based on a first time I'm not particularly encouraged to do more research.
