Finally sorted out my spice cabinet. Turns out I own four jars of ground cumin.

Thought this might get a laugh here. I spent Sunday finally going through my spice cabinet and discovered four separate jars of ground cumin. Every time I was cooking and couldn't spot it in two seconds, I just bought another one on the grocery store.

My cabine ss super deep and narrow, so I was only seeing the front row while everything behind it sat in the dark. Half the cleanout was just me finding stuff from three years ago that had completely lost all its flavor.

Ended up setting up the SpaceAid 2-tier pull-out rack since it was one of the fow options thin enough to squeeze through my cabinet door. The hinges eat up about half an inch of the opening, so I had to measure the actual clearance before screwing the base down.

Taller bottles like vinegar or bulk seasoning jars definitely don't fit on the bottom tier, so those had to stay on a separate shelf. But f or standard spice bottles, actually being able to pull its the tray out mid-recipe instead of playing Jenga with glass jars has been huge.

Anyway, the cabinet is finally under control and my cumin hoarding days are officially over. Curious what kind of random kitchen duplicate everyone else discovered when they finally reorganized their space?

Tupperware Cabinet

Post image

I've read some previous posts in organizing tupperware but I'm still not entirely sure on how to organize this better. The cutting boards also have to stay as we have no other cabinet in the kitchen that will fit them. I have already removed anything my husband and I don't use but he is still so bothered by everything being stacked together and having to restack after doing dishes. Any ideas? Thank you in advance!

Kitchen counter organization help!

Hey everyone. Figured I’d post here and get some real answers m, rather than posting on a Facebook group and getting a bunch of answers from boomers who only know how to use some AI BS.

First off, don’t mind the clutter. This is “messy” for my wife and I. We have a 3 week old daughter. My wife is breast feeding but pumps so that I’m able to help out and are able to feed baby while out and about. This leaves us with minimal counter space which we have a lot of I think.

Just looking for suggestions or opinions of what you guys/girls would do in order to maxi out space.

Thanks in advance!

Need laundry rotation tips

Moved in with my boyfriend recentlt, love it, we divide all chores well and are able to keep everything clean EXCEPT ...

both of us hate putting away clean laundry.. HELP

Our current system is: we both don't like leaving clothes in the laundry room so we have 2 baskets one for dirty and one for clean.

Problem is.. we are terrible about taking clean clothes and putting it away so our clean basket just keeps overfilling, we grab what we need from there, fills up again, a bunch of the shirts are all wrinkly now, now we have the extra chore of ironing, finally on a random weekend when we have to wash again the clothes get put away but then the cycle repeats.

Anyone have tips for us? A Better system? This was an issue for both if us individually even before moving in together.. I would have a pile of clean clothes on a bench in my room and he would divide his clean clothes in sections but leave them on the floor not put away either.

Corner Pantry Organization

So overwhelming to even think about organizing this corner pantry.
For the most there isn't really anything expired in here. My 2 kids (3 year old and 1 year old) open the pantry and mess around with the bottom shelves which is why those are some what bare. Once this gets organized, I will be putting a lock or something on the door so it doesn't continuously get disorganized again. What do y'all recommend? Especially for the corner areas
I';ve included the floor plan image of my pantry for those of you that are interested. When building this house, I didn't really realize what the end product would look like and definitely would have made it bigger had I known it was gonna be this small.

How would you organize these bins and side shelves?

Post image

Just put this spaceaid toy organizer together and now I am figuring out where everything should go. I am thinking blocks, cars, play food, and puzzle pieces in the bins, with books bigger toys on the side shelves. Do picture labels help toddlers clean up? Would you fill every bin or keep some toys put away and rotate them?

SHARP ANGLE Closet Organizing

Hall closet which functions as linen/bathroom/cleaning/bag closet.

Does anyone have recommendations on how to organize this better with such a sharp angle? I’m hoping to get better utilization of the space because it is LARGE just not used efficiently.

100 year old house.

Love the ideas I’ve seen so far in this group.

What do you guys use for your donation bin?

I’ve used boxes, bags, etc. but I’m looking for a nice-looking donation bin that can be an ongoing mainstay. I’m always looking to declutter and having an ongoing bin to put things in would be wonderful, but I’m stumped on what to use. I’d love ideas!

Quilters/sewists/textile artists, how are you organizing fabrics and notions?

Post image
6 Upvotes

Hey all, looking for advice/inspiration on how to organize fabrics for sewing/crafts. I primarily sew garments and accessories, and I incorporate a lot of patchwork/quilting into my projects so I have various sizes of fabric/WIPs in boxes, cases and bags.

I live in a small shoebox apartment so space is limited but I'm able to nail/screw things into the walls, and I have some floor shelving that I can reconfigure space for. Would love to see your set-up to get some ideas and open to any other suggestions to help me make sense of everything.

Toy organizer is set up. Now how do I sort everything?

I put together a SpaceAid toy organizer and am trying to figure out how to sort everything. I also have a few bins from Target, but I'm not sure if I should use those too.
I was thinking of sorting blocks, toy cars, dolls, and art supplies into separate bins. Are labels worth it?
Do you sort toys by type, or just put everything in bins?

How to organize hair accessories

I just have all of my scrunchies in a giant box and I wish there was some way to hang them and still access easily.

My daughter's headbands are also just in a basket and I would like to hang them so I can see what I have.

Will comment pictures when I get a chance.

A visual inventory for one small section of a wardrobe

Post image
3 Upvotes

A visual inventory can start with one manageable group of clothes rather than the entire closet. Photograph each piece clearly, use names you recognize, and keep the categories simple enough to browse when you are getting dressed.

I’m behind MUSE for iPhone. This demonstration shows nine wardrobe items together, including clothes, shoes and a bag. MUSE lets you add clothing photos, browse and search them, then plan outfits from those pieces.

Would a photo inventory help you remember the pieces that disappear at the back of your wardrobe?

A satisfying garage before and after

Post image
50 Upvotes

I cleaned up my landlord's garage to create a storage area for gardening supplies. They were open to letting me do this and helpfully moved heavy things and hung up new shelves when asked. It took about three weeks from start to finish. Very little was thrown away, mostly it just needed reorganization. I started by coming up with a plan for different storage zones and then tackled it corner by corner.

Books - What do I do?

Next on my to do list is to organize my books. I have 250+ books in my collection. I have a pile on the floor in my room. I have piles on my dresser. I have three more piles in the basement. I have a small bookcase filled with books also in the basement. I have several boxes more of books in a storage facility. I could buy some more small bookcases. I converted about half of my library into an online bookstore. I also have a box with several books that I have written. I'd really like to share these books with people and also have them better displayed or more readily accessible.

Resin Crafts Storage

Greetings,

I make cabochons with epoxy resin and I’m looking for a way to store them so they won’t damage one another. Each cabochon is roughly 40mm in diameter and 7mm high. They cannot be stacked directly on top of one another and they’re easily scratched. Looking for a solution to store at least 500 of these at a time for $100 or less.

I’d thought about coin capsules but the ones that are appropriately sized (2oz) are a bit too pricey for how many I’d need. Another option may be some kind of velvet jewelry tray but am skeptical they’d fit.

Any and all suggestions are most appreciated!

Those who sleep naked, where is the best place to hang/store your daily robe for easy access?

Mine just drapes across a chair each night and I wish I knew a better spot for it. I live with others so I have to stumble around at night to find it before I can leave the room to pee.
