I designed and 3D printed a modular workshop storage system for my garage

I’ve been developing a modular workshop storage system called MODRA.
Instead of designing separate holders that each solve one small problem, I wanted to build a system where different accessories could share the same mounting interface.
The setup uses connected panels and segments, with accessories that can be repositioned as storage needs change.
My garage installation now includes tool holders, wrench racks, shelves, power tool storage and filament storage.
Everything is 3D printed, and the system is designed to be expanded with new accessories over time.
This is the current result after many iterations of designing, printing and testing.

I have made a V3 optimized cable organizer! It is for cables up to 2 meters in length and is compatible with virtually any type of charging cable, such as USB-A/USB-C/Lightning/etc! Bend angles are also taken into account to protect cables from damage.

A three-line note for the household jobs only one person knows

The spare filter has a model number. The printer wants one particular cartridge. Somebody knows where both of them live... and everyone else has to ask 😄

A small note beside the thing could help:

• What does it need? The exact filter, refill or part.

• Where are the spares? An actual drawer or shelf.

• What happens when the last one is used? Add it to the shared shopping list.

Start with one job that keeps coming up. No need to document the entire house in one weekend! Keep sensitive details and access codes somewhere private.

What’s one tiny household detail that would be useful to write down so more than one person has it?

5th time Organizing the mess of the rest...

Seriously, if you want something done, you must do it yourself.

Five years, and it's my 5th time organizing this damn shed. putting the tools you can never locate after YOU use them back to the place where you took them from.

Did they go back to that place after use? No, they went in mixed with all the other items used for different projects. And when it came time that the tool was needed, it turned into an argument, because you can't find it.

You say it never goes back to where you put it. No, it goes where you feel is easiest. Then complain to me that you cannot find it.

Seriously, a place for everything and everything in its place. Why would car maintenance tools be in with the painting tools? Why would screw drivers be with window tinting items? Instead of the big green toolbox that was purchased for those items?

It's like a lack of appreciation and it feels to be a disrespect of the things I have done or done to make our lives a little easier.

How do you organize an under-sink cabinet around a front-access RO system?

I'm trying to plan my under-sink cabinet before I buy any bins. One of the RO systems I'm considering is the Viomi Master M1, so I'm using its listed size as a starting point. It's 17.1 inches deep, 6.4 inches wide, and 15.9 inches high. The manual also recommends another 2 to 3 inches behind it.

I want to keep the shutoff valve easy to reach, leave the front open for filter changes, and still be able to see the floor around the water connections. That probably leaves room for one small bin near the door and a removable tray for bottles. I'm unsure whether door storage would get too close to the tubing when the door closes.

For anyone storing everyday items around an under-sink RO, what has stayed convenient without getting in the way of maintenance?

A testing question

Hi! I'm testing an early 3-page prototype of a simple 7-day home reset kit.

It's designed to help busy people reduce clutter, organize their space, and build a manageable cleaning routine through small daily steps.

I'm looking for honest feedback before developing the full version. If you're willing to review the sample, I'd love to know:

Is it clear what to do each day?

Does it feel simple and manageable, or overwhelming?

What's missing or unnecessary?

Would you actually use something like this? Why or why not?

Honest criticism is more helpful than compliments. Thank you!

Matching spice labels look great, but are they practical?

I've been looking at photos of beautifully organized spice drawers, and matching labels definitely make a big difference visually. But I'm wondering how practical these setups actually are in a real kitchen.

If the text is too small, I still have to pick up each jar to read it. And if the labels only show the full names, similar spices can still be hard to tell apart at a glance. I recently got a niimbot b1 label maker and am planning to organize my spice collection.

For those of you who have organized your spices, what works best for everyday cooking? Do you use large text, abbreviations, labels on the lids, or labels on the front of the jars?

I care more about practicality than making everything look good in photos.

House reset problem

For people with busy schedules, what's the hardest part of keeping your home organized during the week?

Is it finding time to clean, knowing where to start, or staying consistent with a routine?

What have you tried that didn't work for you?

The storage basket looks perfect... but will it actually fit?

A tiny organizing idea: keep a note of the space before shopping for something to fill it. The inside width, depth and height of a shelf are much more useful than trying to remember whether it looked “about this big.”

A photo with those measurements written on it would do. Include the narrow doorway or shelf opening too, and leave room to lift the basket out. The widest part of the basket counts, including handles.

Same idea for picture frames or pillow covers: save the actual size with a quick description so the next person buying one has it too. No need to measure the whole house in one heroic afternoon 😄 Just add a note when one of these things comes up.

Do you keep a little list like this, or is there another way you avoid the “nearly fits” purchase?

Library books, returns and borrowed items: how do you make sure they actually leave the house?

An outgoing basket can keep these things together, but “put it by the door” still leaves a few questions: where is it going, when does it need to go, and who is taking it?

A small note on each item could help:

  • Library books — return on Tuesday — whoever is doing the school run.
  • Shop return — take on Saturday — agreed person.
  • Borrowed dish — take when visiting its owner.

Keep the actual due date visible if there is one, and agree the person rather than assuming someone will notice. No special organizer needed; a bag or a bit of shelf space could do the same job.

The part I’m interested in is the reminder: what makes you check that spot before leaving? A note by the keys, a calendar reminder, putting the bag beside your shoes, or something else? Especially curious about setups that work for a shared household without one person having to remember everything.

Separate household paperwork that needs action from papers you just need to keep

A paperwork pile is easier to deal with if the things needing an action are separate from the things you only need to keep.

For each new letter or form, write the actual next step on a small note: sign and return it, book the appointment, or check a detail. Add the deadline and who is dealing with it. “School form — sign and return by Friday — Dad” is much easier to act on than “sort paperwork”.

Keep those action items together in one tray or folder you already own. When you finish the task, move only what needs keeping into reference storage and recycle the rest where appropriate. A receipt without an action shouldn’t hide a form that needs returning tomorrow.

If several people share the jobs, agree who is responsible rather than hoping someone notices. A short regular check of the action folder matters more than buying a better filing system.

Organizing my gear

I'm finally getting my act together, and started to properly organize my gear. The gear consists of camping/hiking/emergency/prepper items. I have the shelving unit setup on wheels, and filled it with Sterilite bins of varying sizes. Work in progress!
