Image Cattlianthe Orchidglade x Cattleya milleri mutant flower
Originally purchased from Gold Country at their fall open house in 2024. The broken flowers are simply an unstable genetic anomaly, the plant tests negative for the common viruses and grows / blooms regularly with the occasional deformed petal. I do maintain it as if it was virused just in case it has something that doesn't show up in tests but otherwise it sits happily on the bench and shows off.

Question Keiki or new flower stem(s)
One of my patients gave me this orchid when she left the hospital last year. I managed to get another bloom spike and the aerial roots took off and love my bathroom window (dappled light). When I was doing a soak, I noticed these new spikes coming from the center of the plant. One looks like another flower spike but I'm not sure if the other is a new root (possibly). I checked the stem, and (as you can see in the first 3 pictures) there is something starting to grow (a keiki?). Any help will be appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Help Help
I apologize for the terrible photo because I havenāt figured out how to put it on my wall yet but I just got this BEAUTIFUL Oncidium Sharry Baby chocolate orchid! I would really appreciate tips on how to take care of it and encourage new blooms after these are done with consideration that this mount has no medium attached. Thank you so much!

Is this jewel orchid about to flower?
I thought it needed more light to flower. I've been growing this for a long time but I recently put it in this terrarium and now this.

Success Zygopetalum flowering process
My Zygopetalum 'Jumpin Jack' flowered! This is my first orchid (of 3) and these are the first flowers successfully grown in my home! Wanted to come share the process.
Plant purchased May 31 freshly in bloom, the flowers lasted ~7 weeks. I noticed the new flower stalks starting in early Sept, the first flower started opening on my birthday Oct 11 which was super exciting, and the last flower on the second stalk is finishing opening today Oct 26.

Question To repot or not to repot
I am new to orchids, but I swear I have multiple that are thriving. These two are my problem children. The first one has pretty bad root rot. It was my first orchid, and I definitely didnāt trim enough of the dead roots away before repotting it, and I also didnāt soak my bark first, so it dried out constantly until the bark started absorbing water. I feel like I need to repot it again, but Iām concerned about stressing the plant out and killing it. Is it best to risk the stress and repot it or should I leave it be and hope it recovers?
The second orchid is the first orchid Iāve ever kept in a terrarium and, yeehaw. Mold. My plan at this point is to let it dry out completely and then soak it in hydrogen peroxide. Should it be taken out of the bark mix for that? Some of the bark is also moldy, so I am not sure if all the mix should just be tossed.
Help me save my children! My other babies are all growing new leaves and blooms but these guys are really determined to help me further my education in orchids.

Flower stem vs Root
Good comparison for folks to see the difference between a flower stem and a root!
Red box highlights the new root, and purple circle highlights the new flower stem.
Cheers!

Success Rescue success
Rescued this Dendrobium from a clearance shelf for Ā£1 two weeks ago. It was just the large stem and the cut stem, and both looked shrivelled, flowers dead at the bottom of the container bag. I was hesitant as Iāve never had anything other than my collection of phalaenopsis and the other āfancierā varieties intimidate me a little. Fast forward to now and there is now a little third stem in the middle that has really taken off out of seemingly thin air, as well a nubbin on the cut stem. I had no idea an orchid could grow so fast. All I did was give it a healthy water and put it in a sunny window, and itās already repaying me greatly. I canāt wait to see how it looks in another two weeks.

Help mom got me an orchid with a terminal spike
I really love the color of this Phalaenopsis! Unfortunately, my mom didnāt know about terminal spikes when she bought it, so she ended up picking one with a terminal spike.
Is there anything I can do to encourage it to produce a keiki, or at least increase the chances of getting one?

Help Is she salvageable?
Finally had a day off to try and take care of my momās orchid. Are any of these roots still good? Do I just cut everything off or keep it all and stuff it back into the pot with sphagnum moss?

Vanda
My curiosity is Iāve had a Vanda since May. She is very healthy and her roots get a good soaking at least twice a week and sprayed in between. Plenty of sunlight.
The only thing I donāt know about is feeding. Has anyone used Better-Gro orchid plus.
Iām really anxious for her to bloom. My other orchids do twice a year.

Question Anyone here have experience with growing orchids while on crutches?
Long story short, I broke my right leg on Sunday. Anyone have any experience trying to care for your plants while any mobility is limited to using crutches?
Most of my orchids are on the second floor, which makes things more difficult.
My roommate is already doing so much for me right now and I hate to ask her to help with my orchid unless I truly can't come up with any creative solutions.
Also, is it weird that right after I broke it and I wondered how the heck I was going to get to work, my next thought was how I was going to care for my orchids?
Silver lining: I likely won't be doing much over watering right now!

Question Feeding?
Hi! So my husband got an orchid from his dad a few years ago and, while it's not died, it's definitely not been thriving (all the rookie errors - ice cubes, sitting in a pool of water, etc.). After doing some reading, I've repotted it into more ventilated / draining accommodation and cut away all of the dead/squishy bits, this week. Sure enough, it's perked right up! My next question is, while I don't normally feed plants over winter, should I give it a little to get it as strong as possible? That said, when I changed pots, I used new orchid (Verve) soil, so might there already be sufficient nutrients in that. Any advice?
Thanks in advance!
