Question Lost my name change paper, now what?
Hi!
I had my last name legally changed back in July and thankfully took a photocopy of the official document. But I seem to have misplaced to original document. Does anyone know the steps to get a replacement?
Thanks!

Question Worth it to move to Toronto from Ottawa?
I’m looking for some advice while weighing the pros and cons of moving from Ottawa to Toronto
I’m 29F, child feee, single, and I grew up in Toronto. Moved to Ottawa about 6.5 years ago when my family relocated here during covid and I followed after graduating uni. I always saw it as a transitional thing but almost 7 years later I’m still here. I have a great job here and am very close to my family that lives here. However, I’ve never made any close friends here and almost all my closest friends are in Toronto. More than anything, every time I go back to visit, I feel at home and comfortable. I’ve found more recently that everytime I leave the city to head back to Ottawa I feel a sense of sadness and longing to be back in Toronto. But I worry about being away from my family I’m so close to (although I guess it’s just a drive/train ride away). The thing is I’m not UNHAPPY in Ottawa, I just think I could be happier in Toronto… but I fear I’m having a grass is greener mindset??
I don’t work remote but I work in healthcare and could probably get a job at one of the hospitals in Toronto relatively easily given my experience. My income would be around 120-130 a year which I think would be sufficient to live comfortably as a single women with just a dog in the city.
I realize this might be the last time in my life that I’m this free with this little responsibility (I.e. no partner or children) and I wonder if leaving my family in so close with is worth it for the change.
Happy to hear any advice or stories of anyone who’s made the same move. Did you regret it? If you moved away from family you are close with, do you regret that??
Thanks :)

Question Did every Mayoral incumbent lose this municipal elections?
Windsor incumbent Mayoral candidate lost yesterday's elections, and from every news source I read, it seems like they're all declaring how incumbent Mayors lost the elections.
I can't imagine that's the case, but is there a place listing the answer for that kind of question? Also, please feel free to comment if your municipality has the incumbent Mayor losing or winning.

Question Can I get a ontario ID card with only my expired g2 license ( expired for 6 months now under a year)?
hello I need a valid ID and I saw that I could potentially get a Ontario ID card with my g2 license as long as the expiration is under a year. Has anyone tried yet?

Discussion Who was the best premier of Ontario?
For me, it'd have to Bill Davis, very much a progressive conservative, very Red Tory: Massively expanded universities, created the Environment Ministry, appointed the first woman to Cabinet, expanded French language services, created TVO, brought in rent control, along with many others things. I'd like to hear from others, though, on who you consider the best premier and why.

Discussion Service Ontario - return license plate?
Hoping that someone here can provide clarification ...
I transferred my vehicle to a family member and they decided to get their own plates - my license plates had seen better days. A week after this transaction, I realized that I should 'deregister' my old plates. Taking my paper plate permit to Service Ontario, I was told that I had to surrender my physical plates as well.
This is confusing because a month earlier, we did a similar transfer with another vehicle (in another town) and had the old plates cancelled but allowed to keep the physical ones.
Anyone run into a similar situation? TIA

Question Looking for Ontario provider/dermatologist experienced with Intralesional Bleomycin for resistant keloids/scars
Has anyone in Ontario successfully received bleomycin (or 5-FU/TAC combos) for scar flattening, and which provider or hospital clinic administered it?
Did you get treated at a private dermatology clinic or via a GP referral to a tertiary academic hospital clinic?

Discussion Doctor leaving clinic, demanding fee to transfer records
Ontario: departing family doctor is charging around $250 cash for a USB of our family’s medical records, and won’t transfer them to the incoming doctor. Is this legal?
My family has been seeing a doctor at a small local clinic in the GTA for the last 6-7 years. All of our health records are kept at this clinic. It has only one doctor, and they are leaving.
They are pushing us to take all our records on a USB drive. We asked them to transfer the records to the new doctor who will be taking over the clinic, but they said the software is owned by them, so the records won’t be transferred. they quoted $250 for the whole family, payable in cash only.
I offered to follow them to their new practice, but they say that they haven’t decided on a clinic or location yet.
My questions:
- Is it legal to charge this fee, and to require cash?
- Can they refuse to transfer our records to the incoming doctor because they own the software?
- Has anyone dealt with something similar? What did you do, and did the CPSO (College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario) or the Privacy Commissioner help? I don’t have any issues with this physician but requests like this make me think are they legal ?
thanks in advance .

Discussion Post-election discussion
Hi everyone,
With Ontario's municipal elections yesterday I'm curious what worked, what didn't, and what would get more people voting, in municipal elections and in provincial and federal ones too. I'm asking across Ontario, not just one city, because I want to hear how this played out in big cities, smaller towns, and rural areas.
If you voted:
• What finally got you out to vote?
• What helped you decide most: a candidate website, debate, door knock, social media, local news, lawn signs, talking to friends/family, something else?
• Was there anything confusing about where, when, or how to vote?
If you didn't vote:
• No judgment, what kept you home? Time, not knowing the candidates, feeling like it wouldn't matter, not knowing it was election day, something else?
• What would have made it easier or more worth it for you?
If you volunteered, worked, or ran in a campaign:
• What outreach actually seemed to move people?
• What felt like a waste of time or money?
• What would you do differently next time?
For everyone:
• What do you think would encourage more voters, especially in municipal elections?
• Are there specific ideas that would help, like better candidate info in one place, more advance voting options, more debates, or outreach in a particular language or format?
Thanks for sharing, specific examples are really helpful. If you're comfortable, it would help to know roughly where in Ontario you're talking about, without sharing anything personal.

Question How hard it is it to find a doctor as someone with health issues that require a regular doctor?
So I have to fire my current doctor after she refused to fill out my ODSP forms and (I'm paraphrasing) stated my non physical disabilities are not disabilities. I do have a psychiatrist managing my mental health stuff, but I was recently diagnosed with fibromyalgia, and I'm dealing with some other stuff which requires me to see a regular doctor (and having someone consistent in the loop with my other conditions is necessary). And if I have to stop seeing my psychiatrist, I'll need a GP (my psychiatrist is for students/staff at Carleton only)
I'm located in Ottawa

Question Question about purchasing used car in Ontario
Hello fellow Ontarians!
I just purchased a used car from a dealership yesterday and I'm going to pick it up tomorrow but I'm a little confused with the process.
For clarification I've only ever purchased and owned used cars so I'm good on the process with private sales but have never purchased from a dealer before. Normally I just sign the ownership, the bill of sale and tow the car home but this time they're setting me up with temporary plates to go ahead and get the car saftied and insured.
What I'm a little unsure of is the insurance. The car is older than 20 years old meaning I'll need an appraisal to insure the car but I don't have the car with me until I pick it up so I can't get it appraised until I have it at my home. Do I need to have the car insured before pickup and driving it home even with the temporary plates? Or can I pick it up and bring it home before having it insured?
Any help is appreciated. Thank you all in advance!
