I’m sure that yall get this post a lot it I am looking for advice or where to go to find the highest paid possible, preferably FIFO or offshore jobs with little to no experience in the industry. I have construction, farm, and ranch experience if that helps. Any and all advice is welcome.

Hi all, I’m a student in a STEM program and I’m researching directional drilling as a long-term path. I’d love to hear from people who work in it, whether you’re a DD, MWD hand, or a trainee.

1. How competitive is it right now to get a first spot at a service company? Is it hard to get in, or is it mostly a matter of timing?
2. What was your path in? MWD first, trainee program, or something else? Does a STEM background actually help, or is field experience what counts?
3. Do you think automation or AI will cut into the job? Are you seeing it change how many people a rig needs?
4. How rough are the downturns? When activity drops, how quickly do layoffs hit directional crews?
5. What’s the day-to-day like? Rotation, night shifts, and how much of the job is math versus judgment and troubleshooting?
6. Which certifications or experience would you recommend getting while still in school (internships, co-ops, safety or well control courses)?
7. Anything you wish you’d known before starting?

Thanks in advance. Any honest answers, good or bad, are appreciated.

Anybody else heading to odessa TX on the 9th for Halliburton ?

Hopefully I'm posting in the right place. I'm a former mudlogger for Halliburton Sperry Drilling Services based out of Broussard, Louisiana. I need to get in touch with the office to get a letter stating my income was made offshore, so that I can clear up a mess with the Louisiana Department of Revenue. I'm in Oregon these days so when I looked up the office to call, the number online was completely dead. No ring, no straight to voicemail, just an instant "call ended" as soon as I pressed call.

I was laid off in 2020 when COVID was happening, but did Sperry go out of business, get shutdown, or just straight up relocate? Online I couldn't find anything, but right now when trying to get in touch it feels like they just vanished out of thin air. Houston HQ led me to dead ends, so my final hail Mary is asking here if anyone knows the current office number, or heck a current contact that wouldn't mind being my starting point for getting this solved. Much thanks in advance for any help or information you guys can provide!

Does anyone know how much targa is paying for plant operators in new mexico doing fifo?

I’m a certified Cathodic Protection Technician (AMPP CP2/ AAIT Level 1) and Internal Corrosion Technician with 5 years experience in nearly all environments of the oil and gas industry. I’ve done maintenance and service work on live, pressurized equipment in SAGD, Midstream, Oil Sands Projects, Gas Processing, pipeline construction, etc. Also field and plant based Cathodic surveys, troubleshooting and rectifier inspections. I’m considering getting my 4th class power engineering and leveraging my experience to get into the operational side of things, the shift work is also appealing. Is it worth it with my background or is there genuinely too much competition? TIA

Anyone work for Hilcorp on the north slope as a WOA field operator? Looking for insight on what the pay is like

Hi. Probably in 2 years, I will be joining my wife in Canada with spousal visa. I am heavily thinking if I continue my experience here in middle east as an operator with >10 years of experience after marriage or join her in Canada and pursue training for Project Coordinator training now. Anybody here with background with these 2 different jobs?

So I've been considering getting into the oilfield. I'm from Oregon and I know Midland or Odessa or Arkansas or any state ill most likely be flying there which means no car. So the whole issue I have isn't the work, it's how I get to work. So I thought to myself I could Uber around but thinking about it, there's has to be some rigs which can't be accessed by Uber.

For the people who don't drive and fly into the state, how do you guys move around? Do certain companies provide work trucks? Transportation? I'm guessing it all comes down to getting to know people and asking for rides and sharing rides, but since I know nobody I'll probably have to walk. This all very new to me, I thought man camps were near the rigs but I read some are fukin far away.

The thing I want the least it to become a problem once over there if I was to get hired

Dear members I got interviewed at BP for a role 10 days back and first round was Who We Are. I tried checking with recruiter about result and recruiter said something which is totally confusing to me can anyone explain whar recruiter is trying to say

"Your feedback is on hold

panel has given good feedback but for further round

They need to discuss

Whether need to proceed or not"

Can anyone here please guide 🙏

Just woke up to Baker Hughes laying off its entire MWD remote hands across all of North America land. Quick math count had over 35+ people. Don't know if its only for today or if more layoffs are incoming. Current jobs being ran had no heads up or anything communicated to them to help with the transition. Looks like the MWD's laid off will be replaced with a remote center based out of Mexico.

Cadê os brasileiros daqui??? não achei uma comunidade br sobre a indústria do óleo e gás! Fiz uma entrevista hoje para a SLB, estou super nervosa

Any oil field jobs that hires entry level consultants?

Rule 36 gives you a radius, but wind and weather obviously change where it ends up. On location, is it mostly gut feel plus monitors, or does anyone actually model the plume? how it works in practice, especially near roads or houses

I got an interview for I&E craftsman for Phillips 66 in Billings. Never worked in O&G and curious what to expect if I end up getting offered the job or just any advice in general about the place.

Could anyone share what to expect?

Thanks

Thinking about applying for the ND area..

What are the best chairs y'all use for the shelter? Time for us to order new chairs. Need durable, big, cushioned chairs. Most important thing is that it reclines a good bit. Let me what y'all got and where y'all ordered them from. Thanks.
