First time visiting Denmark! Looking for food recommendations, things to do, and American snacks to bring coworkers! 🇩🇰🇺🇸
Hi everyone!
I'll be traveling from Michigan, USA, to Denmark in November for two weeks of work training (November 1–14). This will be my first time visiting Denmark, and I'm really excited!
I'll be staying in Odense, and I'd love some recommendations from locals!
🍽️ Food recommendations
I'm a big foodie and love trying new things! What are some must-try Danish dishes, restaurants, bakeries, or hidden gems in and around Odense? I'm especially interested in places locals actually enjoy rather than just tourist spots. I'm pretty adventurous when it comes to food, so don't be afraid to recommend something unusual!
🍬 American snacks for my Danish coworkers
Since I'll be training with my Danish coworkers, I thought it would be fun to bring some American candy, snacks, or treats to share with everyone.
Are there any American snacks that are difficult to find in Denmark or that Danes particularly enjoy? I'd love to bring something fun that they might not normally get to try. Bonus points for anything unique to the Midwest or Michigan!
🏰 Weekend adventures with my husband
My husband is flying over to join me November 5–10, and we'd love to make the most of our time together!
We love exploring, trying new food, visiting historical sites, and finding unique experiences. I'm especially interested in castles, and if there's one with an actual dungeon or underground passages, even better! 😂
We're definitely open to day trips outside Odense and don't mind traveling a bit if something is worth seeing.
Are there any must-see places, unique experiences, or romantic spots you'd recommend for a couple visiting Denmark for the first time?
🇩🇰 General advice
I'd also love any tips about Danish culture, etiquette, or things Americans should know before visiting. Anything from transportation and weather to little cultural differences would be appreciated!
I'm really looking forward to experiencing Denmark, meeting my coworkers in person, and exploring as much as possible while I'm there.
Thanks in advance for any recommendations! ❤️
