Discussion Oddworld Abe's odyssey

Hey. So I recently got my ps1 up and running again and have been playing abes again. My lord! This game is ridiculous. The enemies movement patterns are totally random. Sometimes the shadows work hiding you sometimes they don't. You can complete one zone a specific way perfectly and then some random bug in chara there movement gets you killed. It's such a brutal game 😂

Ignore the others, they don't know the game they're talking about. OG AO and AE enemies do have random, or chance based behaviours. For example, whether sligs will beat a Mudokon when they walk past one is a percentage chance that can be tuned for each enemy. Same with the amount of frames they stop for, listen for, etc. So yeah, redditors as usual have no idea what they're talking about and you shouldn't listen to them (except me)

I've recently been playing Abe's Oddysee on steam along with Exoddus and it really is difficult. And I really love it for that. It's such a fun series!

I still prefer New n Tasty over Abe's Oddysee but I still think Exoddus is the best game in the series honestly!

On this part the slig at the top is asleep. Then he isn't when you enter. But sometimes he goes to sleep again this is totally random. I played this bit about 50 times he fell back asleep twice. Sometimes the one at the bottom falls off the ledge, sometimes he doesn't. I have had numerous times where Abe is in the shadows and gets shot by the slig even though I make no sound at all

Here I wait for them to enter my screen and then I go into their screen and they're like "woah wtf happened"

Ok so if it isn't random then slig at the top should go back to sleep seeing as his animation is him sleeping when you enter the level. But he never does?

I don't believe they go back to sleep once you wake them up unless you leave and reenter the screen. I could be wrong about that though.

Yeh it is quite scratched. Don't get me wrong I love the game but this scene has been a shit show 😂
