Little detail on this piece: it’s a 1:12 scale metamorphic table made back in 1997 by miniature artisan Julian Bickers. It’s hand-carved hardwood with brass fittings, and folds out from a console into a chess/checkerboard gaming table.

1997! Wow, I can’t believe an object from that far back in the past has survived in such good condition

Except it isn't a chess/checkers board, some weird 3D effect instead.

The Borrowers thank you for having such nice furniture for them to use in your dollhouse.

The fact that this is a fully functional miniature table and somehow still looks more expensive than my actual furniture is incredible

I’m really not ok with 1997 being in the title like some kind of vintage year. That was only like 10 years ago. Oh…oh no…

My buddy had this bench in his hallway that he kept joking was his gaming table which we all thought was funny until we went to play dnd one day and the bench pulled out 17 leafs opening from a 3.5ft wide one foot long bench to over 12 feet long with each section narrowing until the final one was perfectly DM sized.

I've never seen anything like it since but the way this table folds reminded me of it instantly

That’s definitely made by Lester Freamon of Major Crimes Unit, West Baltimore, Maryland.
