BSc Physics IB

Hey guys I am an international baccalaureate student applying to bachelor of physics in university of Galway.

My subjects: Physics HL, Economics HL, Business HL, Maths AA SL, Swedish AB Initio, English Language and Lit SL.

What ideal ib score would get me accepted in the program, I saw the requirement was CAO 442, do you think a 33 or 34 would be enough for admission?

Also I had a question about documentation, what documents would I need to submit as an EU + IB student?

Just personal information or grades too? I heard that personal information is sufficient and later I need to provide grades using IBO portal, is that true?

Any help is much appreciated πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™

Hey! not doing physics, but I was also an IB student, currently doing a BA on English at NUIG. I looked up the exchange rates on points and around 34 should be just enough. You don't really need to submit anything if I remember correctly, your coordinator and/or careers advisor at your school only need to know that you're applying to Ireland so they can send your transcripts to CAO directly when they come out. You don't even need to provide your transcripts yourself!! some careers advisors will send your transcripts to unis directly just to be safe but this is not necessary. You will only really need documents to submit for registration in August, usually residency papers from the EU and so for your fee status/etc, or if you deferr a year. For CAO they only need your personal info, not grades. Good luck!!

Thank you sooooo much I really appreciate your response, this means a lot. So when I apply in November I would need to submit my personal info and details and pay the fee, I asked ChatGPT it said the same thing, and later on my coordinator will provide my official transcript when I tell him to. Is that right? Again, thank you so much.☺️

Yes! that's right. Do tell your coordinator now, though, that you plan on applying to Ireland. They should know about the process with CAO. I think in the IB, at least in my school they do make you tell them where are you applying to so they know where to send your transcripts to. Ireland doesn't need predicted grades, they only want your finals, so just let your coordinator/careers advisor know so they can have your transcripts sent to CAO as soon as they come out. You won't know if you got into uni/into which uni did you get until late august, though! consider that. There's sadly no way around it.
