We went from possibly winning the division to trading for nine those super bowls aren’t going to hold me over forever

u/Stanky_fresh 28d ago

Don't worry, the football Gods are going to make McCarthy into the best QB in the league just to spite us.

THE NEW YORK GIANTS ARE A FIRST PLACE TEAM (PAST WEEK 1) FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE 2022! WOOOOOOOOOO

8

u/84breaks 28d ago

Why is it only Tuesday? Why can’t it be Friday? Or Thursday…. However… the nespresso is just ok this morning.

3

u/el_fitzador 28d ago

It seems like the Eagles are in year one of a rebuild. The roster is very stars and scrubs with a lot of young guys.

3

u/ChipKellysShoeStore 28d ago

Plus the stars are underperforming

-2

u/fortunefades 28d ago

Is the bears defense good or is the eagles offense just bad?

6

u/capemaygirl1999 28d ago

eagles offense and defense is bad lol. bears looked great last night and deserved the win.

3

u/California_Stop_King 28d ago

Bears defense is still reliant on splash plays. Carolina torched them through the air and Minnesota ran pretty well in a game that was basically entirely obvious running situations given the weather. Bears defense is better than last year, but the Eagles are just en extremely poor outfit on both sides of the ball. They could easily be 0-3

2

u/justicebiever 28d ago

Bears D has a couple very solid players. Dennis Allen was also on one. But that Eagles team barely got through Cam Ward, they just kinda suck.

-2

u/Signal_Ball4634 28d ago

If the Eagles keep this up Sirianni is a goner. Unlike last year their defense doesn't appear to be good enough to carry games, and the offense is still not getting anywhere as the OL regresses and Hurts loses his mojo.

10

u/RukiMotomiya 28d ago

Year six of a 1-1 Super Bowl coach who has only posted winning records and is 6-4 in the playoffs being suggested to be fired because they lost one game.

1

u/Signal_Ball4634 28d ago

Less about the one game and more that their performance through 3 weeks is pretty lackluster. Washington and Tennessee aren't world beaters and gave them very tough games too.

4

u/on-the-cheeseburgers 28d ago

i'm not going to speculate on what will or what won't happen but in 2024 the eagles were sitting at 2-2 and had just gotten their asses kicked by the bucs before only losing one game the rest of the way en route to winning the super bowl. slow start isn't always doom.

2

u/Signal_Ball4634 28d ago

Yeah fair. I hope for the best cause I love Hurts but I just really am not impressed with the early returns. I think that OL is not going to get any better even if the rest of the team does

4

u/RukiMotomiya 28d ago

Last year's Seahawks started the year 3-2 with a 3 point victory against the Cardinals being all that kept them above a losing record, for example.

Early records aren't meaningless but 3 games says much less about Sirianni than the previous 5 years, he will need to be bad for a while before he's gone.

-5

people complain about politics every day but I'm a republican when I do it?

5

u/A7XfoREVer6661 28d ago

He likes starting shit and then playing dumb when you call him out on it, it's his whole schtick outside of frisbee golf.

5

u/Ecstatic-Inevitable 28d ago

Case keenum makes me think that maye needs a veteran qb presence and not Tommy devito

4

u/pixel_pete 28d ago

I'm a big believer that young QBs should have a veteran backup who's played a lot of games, even if they aren't very good anymore. The experience and having been through game prep so many times before is helpful mentorship on a level a coach can't provide.

Like a rookie head coach hiring a failed former HC as one of his coordinators.

2

u/Pangolin_cowboy_hats 28d ago

Philip Rivers is available

1

u/Ecstatic-Inevitable 28d ago

Honestly might genuinely be good for him to have him as a backup

6

u/MarcusDA 28d ago

Can someone explain why people find Tom Grossi funny? It’s the same schtick over and over. Put on a jersey and say obvious statement, change to other team jersey and say obvious statement, change back to original and do a shocked face because yeah, weird shit happens in football. Repeat.

1

u/3GPtv 28d ago

The Scripted videos have a lot of sly, subtle humor that you will miss if not paying attention.

As for the Fan Reaction videos, he is like any other long running TV show, it may not be lights out, like in the beginning, but you enjoy the characters doing their thing.

5

u/Stanky_fresh 28d ago

His scripted videos are very boiler plate and not really anything to write home about. But I like when he's just talking about football, making predictions, and being emotionally destroyed by the Packers. He seems like a good dude who knows what he's talking about and he seems to genuinely enjoy what he does.

4

u/shawnaroo 28d ago

I think his fan bases/nfl scripted series videos are kinda played out and not really worth watching, but I tend to enjoy his more casual streams just talking football, as well as his power ranking videos. Nothing super in-depth, but still a decent mix of info and personality.

3

u/RukiMotomiya 28d ago

The scripted videos tend to be rather witty and have long running storylines, plus he does a good job being relatable to specific fanbases and their fan traumas at various points.

-1

u/TheMissingVoteBallot 28d ago

Reddit is not known to have original humor.

Mr. Boring Comedians

1

u/RukiMotomiya 29d ago

It's funny watching so many people complain about a college football bill that gives them want they wanted in college football because "I don't want government in muh footbaw!"

6

u/Pangolin_cowboy_hats 28d ago

This is kinda disingenuous, a lot of college football fans don’t like it because it is clearly written with the television networks and media deals in mind, it doesn’t fix the issue of a coach bailing on a team and players being stuck in a system they don’t like or can’t succeed in, doesn’t address coaching pay or contract length, and there’s a segment of college football fans that think we are jumping to a solution while ignoring the parity of Indiana as national championships.

2

u/HartleyReplogle 28d ago

It's telling that the bill is unanimously opposed by the Congressional Black Caucus, and that every black Democratic Senator voted against the bill.

It's called "The Protect College Sports Act" but a better name for it would be "The Protect The Wealth From Greedy College Athletes, Most Of Whom Are Black Act."

4

u/unloader86 29d ago

Someone has found a way to one up me in trolling the bar with the jukebox. They put on Chameleon by Herbie Hancock. It's a 15 minute song. 😂 I'm dead.

Unfortunately for them the jukebox shuts songs down around the 7 minute mark. But I still had a nice laugh. If I meet the person who played it I'm just gonna tip my hat in respect.

3

u/CountofMonteCrisco1 28d ago

I used to do the same thing! Alice's Restaurant was my go to song. 18+ minutes.

3

u/Rulligan 28d ago

The album version of In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida by Iron Butterfly is 17 minutes and funny every single time.

-3

u/unloader86 29d ago

I've kept quiet all day about last night's game. Mostly cuz I was out at a strip club watching the game and couldnt hear what was happening. I was just in full send mode being a fan in the moment.

That said, after watching the final minutes back tonight with the sound on, whether you agree with the call or not the Rams took us to third down territory afterward and committed a hands to the face penalty that moved Denver closer to the end zone to allow Nix to run the ball in for the TD.

Like they still had a chance to stop us after the DPI penalty is what I'm saying. And I guess everyone is also conveniently forgetting the Rams had the ball last and Hufanga picked him off to end the game.

To me it looked like Wallace was pushing Bryant on the back. Which is why the ref signaled pushing when he threw the flag.

Did Bryant flop? Yes. He admitted to it (which I wish he didn't, he'll never get a DPI call again because of it.)

Anyhow. Rams weren't robbed. They choked away a 16 to zero lead. Thank you for coming to my Ted talk.

6

u/csappenf 28d ago

I agree. The Rams have only themselves to blame for losing to the fucking Donkeys. The Superteam is disappointing so far.

God loves y’all.

““For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.”
‭‭John‬ ‭3‬:‭16‬ ‭NLT‬‬

1

u/HartleyReplogle 28d ago

Titus 3:3-8

2

u/csappenf 28d ago

It's funny to me how so many "believers" don't realize that was one woke mf. What are they believing in, if they don't know that? Some fucking fantasy that completely rejects his life, words, and deeds.

2

u/HartleyReplogle 28d ago

For millions of "believers," it's ignorance that's reinforced by the belief system.

They are made to be afraid, either by poor or malicious teaching, of a God that repeatedly says "Do not be afraid." They are taught that doubt is NOT a normal part of faith but rather a sin. Unable to express doubt in a healthy way and be strengthened by a community of believers, they learn not to ask questions and to engage in groupthink, even when their fellow churchgoers follow the culture instead of Christ.

They demonstrate skepticism of secular knowledge because it calls into question the veracity of a literal Scripture, which they cling to because an allegorical or metaphorical interpretation of the text requires a depth of understanding and nuance that can lead back to doubt. But they cannot be convinced with Scripture, either, because they've been taught that even the devil can quote Scripture.

This is unfortunately what happens when the church aligns itself with empire, something it's been doing since 400-500 AD. Every once in a while, a splinter group emerges that rejects empire and tries to follow the teachings of Jesus, and the group is either violently suppressed or slowly dwindles away.

1

u/Kemonomimi-Squirrel 29d ago

No It doesn't

7

u/Feisty_Relation_2359 29d ago

Really man. Can you not take that to a different sub lol? Random quote from ancient book ain't doing it for me

12

u/kplis 29d ago

I mean, I'm an atheist and have quite a few issues with organized religion, but it's the free talk thread. If they want to post scripture, who cares. It's not even something controversial, like one of the anti-lgbtq quotes or anything hateful or vile.. It's actually one of the parts about god's love, and a good one for Christians to point to to argue that god wouldn't oppose love.

They ain't in here spamming shit or anything, and it's something they likely view as a nice gesture and not hurting anyone.

2

u/HartleyReplogle 28d ago

"Now an omer is one-tenth of an ephah." - Exodus 16:36

5

u/AfroManHighGuy 29d ago

Someone else made a post in another sub how all the older qbs are doing so well this season. And the young guys are struggling. I’m not sure what the reason is, but it’s eye opening for sure.

Kirk cousins, case keenum, Aaron rodgers, geno smith, Marcus mariota, etc

1

u/OpDickSledge 28d ago

I think it’s a combination of colleges refusing to do pro style offenses and also a much larger emphasis on all levels of football on athleticism instead of football iq

0

u/Devilofchaos108070 28d ago

Purdy is young, seems to be alright 🤷🏻‍♂️

Edit: also Bryce. Despite the record he’s played well. Same with Sunshine in Jax. Several others.

Yall see what you want to see I think

3

u/CarlCaliente 28d ago

cause we measure them by their offense

and they found some good offenses this year

3

u/AB444 28d ago

and each one of the guys listed has a new team or new OC... There was no tape on them

3

u/ProfessorXWheelchair 29d ago

even last year with rivers coming back. these new qbs are much less cerebral and have less understanding of the game imo. there’s only so long you can get by on just talent

2

u/shawnaroo 28d ago

Especially because defenses have gotten so much more sophisticated over the past few years.

It took them a while to adjust to established guys like Rodgers, Brady, Brees, etc. just knowing exactly what the defense was trying to do and being able to carve them up. But we've started seeing defensive schemes doing so much to mix up coverages by moving guys around, not just before the snap, but right after the snap, to try to fool the QB as to what kind of coverage was actually happening.

I think the older guys who've played a bunch more football just feel more comfortable watching it all unfold and making decisions in the moment, while the younger quarterbacks are just being mentally overwhelmed.

It's got to be a really tough job.

2

u/RukiMotomiya 29d ago

Teams also just don't seem interested in actually developing a QB's mental side any more. So many schemes are "simplify it for the QB". If you don't use it, you're gonna lose it.

3

u/tuckernuts 29d ago

We've also seen a lot of young quarterbacks literally thrown to the wolves on day 1. Used to be a rarity to see a rookie QB starting week 1, now it's the norm.

2

u/AfroManHighGuy 29d ago

I think that’s exactly the big difference. Guys like cam ward, CJ stroud, etc who all have the physical attributes and athleticism. But they don’t have the cerebral knowledge like the older qbs do. It’s a lost thing with the newer generation of qbs coming into the league

5

u/GeckoRoamin 29d ago

My fantasy football teams and my reality football team are now a combined 10-2, which is doing a surprising amount of work to keep me pleasantly distracted from the dumpster fire that is my personal life.

u/1019391 29d ago

Saw This on X He's Got a Point

Next week we’ve got

Jags-Bengals Rams-Eagles Pats-Bills Broncos-49ers Cowboys-Texans

And somehow the primetime games are

Browns-Steelers Lions-Panthers Falcons-Saints

3

u/Devilofchaos108070 28d ago

No he really doesn’t. All three of those primetime games have the potential to be pretty good

1

u/Stanky_fresh 28d ago

We get an AFC North matchup AND Falcons-Saints on prime time in one week, and this guy's complaining?

3

u/Shout92 28d ago

I actually think after Sunday Browns/Steelers got more interesting. Plus division games are always crazy.

3

u/GhostPro18 28d ago

Lions / Panthers and Falcons / Saints will be some great games. Browns / Steelers will be a classic AFC North sicko ball game, I expect a score of 16 - 19 with a defensive TD, missed XP, and a safety mixed in.

2

u/unloader86 29d ago

I didn't have the Bears winning tonight. This Ben Johnson guy might be legit. Figured they'd keep it close, but not blow them out.

2

u/justicebiever 28d ago

BJ is the new McVay and Fangio has been toast for a couple years.

8

u/StChas77 29d ago

I've lived here since moving away from Philly as a young man, and I don't intend to live anywhere else before retirement. But there are moments when I have mild regrets about having moved to the Chicago suburbs. Might be a long day tomorrow.

5

u/Skraxx 29d ago

Saw someone describe the Eagles scheme as "prevent offence" and like

12

u/Guiltyjerk 29d ago

Congrats to the senate for passing a college sports bill that affects almost nobody instead of trying to limit the lunatic in chief

1

u/malibubleezy 29d ago

Just pass the protect the status quo act that allows for nothing but austerity cuts.

2

u/EmuMan10 29d ago

I am sweating out the last 14 minutes of this game for fantasy football lol

2

u/AfroManHighGuy 29d ago

Same. I was projected to lose. But my matchup has eagles defense and they’re at -1 right now lol. I’m gonna win lol

2

u/EmuMan10 29d ago

I have Smith. They had hurts and Saquon. I came in with a 15ish point lead and I’m gonna win by 7

2

u/3p1cw1n 29d ago

Shoutout to Wisconsin's fight song in last night's episode of Lanterns

4

u/GoldyGoldy 29d ago

Was that josh Allen in a chargers uniform in that SoFi commercial?

4

u/GoldyGoldy 29d ago

At least 7 backup QB’s have been put into games so far this year. That’s wild.

1

u/Guiltyjerk 29d ago

Through 2 weeks we had an average to slightly below average number of QBs take snaps in a game. I dont think this is abnormal as people claim

10

u/stephersms 29d ago edited 29d ago

I just remembered the Snickers commercial from the 90's.

Player gets hit:

Coach: Where are we?

Player: New York.

Coach: Who am I?

Player: You're Coach, Coach.

Coach: Who are you?

Player: I am Batman.

I want to be clear, I hope Hurts is okay. I just remembered that commercial. I really happy concussions aren't a joke anymore.

4

u/Devilofchaos108070 28d ago

I love that commercial. Then it has him sitting in the locker room and he puts his hand on a big ol dudes thigh and said something about him being Batman and asked the guy about being his boy wonder or whatever.

Whole thing was hilarious

Andy Dalton vs Case Keenum playing on the NFL right now, Madonna and Snoop Dogg on the VMAs, What year is it?

This Clancy case is getting much more sadder by the second.

2

It's just that people need to remember the children but sadly the media only puts Lindsey Clancy's name out. The case should be about the kids.

It is strange how I don't think a single person honest to god believes Trump is not completely dementia addled and is capable of being president

This country has sold its soul for political utility. Eventually I suppose we'll find out who is pulling the strings

In todays greatest hits he talked about several "birth tourists" with 50-90 kids

2

u/Shout92 28d ago

As someone who has watched multiple relatives deal with some form of dementia, it's sad and frustrating. We took keys away faster than some of these people are allowed to vote and decided for us.

5

u/fliptout 29d ago

I mean the fact that McConnell is being wheeled around on the border of catatonic is full proof that keeping these people in power for political utility is not beyond the ethics of our current administration.

12

u/Mickwinn 29d ago

Biden was fully capable of doing the job but, he sounded and looked old af

Trump never was capable and actually showed signs of dementia but, he talked loud so it was ok

This country is unfathomably stupid

3

u/tacsatduck 29d ago

": something (such as a seasoning, sauce, garnish, or topping) that is added to food usually after the food is prepared and that enhances or adds to its flavor"

I don't know, I think gravy is a condiment based on this m-w definition.

I feel so bad throwing hospital passes in games, IDK how guys like Manning and Brady did it IRL with Collie and Welker lol

1

I'm sure the same is true of Manning, but Brady specifically talked about delivering the ball to a spot where guys don't get completely creamed crossing the middle.

4

u/PaulsRedditUsername 29d ago

I was at the game when Austin Collie caught his last hospital pass. They took him off on a stretcher. Believe me, those things are a hundred times worse to see in person. A whole stadium full of people going silent is very eerie.

The various broadcast teams all have their issues, so go figure my most common critique is that it always feels like they have one commentator too many (I swear TNF always feels like one of them is gonna fall off the stage) and MNF has the lowest number of people... but it's usually the worst combination of talent.

KOC discourse brings up this topic:

There's a difference between developing a QB and maximizing a QB. I think this is so far true of KOC (a maximizer, not a developer) and it's not necessarily a bad thing. It's just that I think this is something you have to keep in mind when choosing your next QB.

2

u/j0hnnyengl1sh 29d ago

I think this is a really smart take.

I wish we could hire someone who is at least one of those things.

8

u/TheWorstYear 29d ago

Also to keep in mind is that most qb's can't be developed. The nfl is incredibly hard. Most guys cannot do it. Expecting someone to turn every piece of coal into diamonds is not realistic.

1

u/Balrogkicksass 29d ago

Even then I think to your point is that either you have it or you don't. You can develop traits or habits but for a starting QB you really have most of those things in you or you do not.

10

u/NoAnteater8836 29d ago

Of the hundreds of storylines that are about to come out of the unbeaten Chiefs vs the unbeaten Raiders, one I am looking the most forward to is how the Raiders treat Walker.

Kubiak comes from an old school line of thought coaches used to have called “self scouting”. You take an almost third person view of your own team to identify your weaknesses down to an individual level in order to anticipate how your opponent may try and exploit them.

Kubiak, theoretically, has an answer for Walker. You better believe the league will be paying attention to what he thinks that is.

I haven't watched Millionaire in years but threw on the celebrity episodes where Matt Damon & Ken Jennings and Ben Affleck & Jamie Ding played. Definitely felt like some odd softball questions, but will admit there were a couple along the way I wouldn't have gotten and that the contestants struggled with (spoilers: they both win a million for charity).

6

u/non_clever_username 29d ago edited 29d ago

I think the speculation was that they intentionally dumbed it down to get a million dollar winner for publicity because some other game show had a big winner recently.

I don’t think they can admit that without landing themselves in hot water, but it makes sense.

So would it be safe to assume that McDaniel is getting exposed as the Chargers OC or shall I pick a different narrative to run with this week? 😂

2

u/Signal_Ball4634 29d ago

I want to say it's a Chargers problem. Kellen Moore was OC there in 2023 and he runs a pretty easily adaptable system and they looked meh. Roman is a bad OC but Herbert was able to make something out of nothing there. And now we have a complex system under McDaniel and from what I can tell outside of the run game it's woeful.

5

u/AfroManHighGuy 29d ago

It’s not all on McDaniel. Herbert isn’t playing well either.

3

u/pixel_pete 29d ago

We can still blame that on McDaniel because it's funny, right?

4

u/NoAnteater8836 29d ago

It’s the QB and specifically his feet.

My totally not legal live TV has finally become not worth messing with, so I’m looking at ways to legitimately get live TV while being able to watch NFL and the few channels I enjoyed watching on the piracy TV like FXX and adult swim. These prices make me want to cry.

1

u/Error400BadRequest 29d ago

Do you have an American Express card?

They usually have an offer available for $20/mo back on YouTube TV. You have to go on the website (or app) and manually add it to your card. It's still not cheap but it might be a bit more manageable.

1

u/ACS1029 29d ago

I do not, sounds like it would’ve been a decent deal though!

2

u/slytherinprolly 29d ago

Who’s your cell provider? A lot of them bundle or discount streaming services, so that might knock the price down a bit.

Also, Dish Network is surprisingly loose about password sharing. My brother subscribes, and me and two of my siblings use his login pretty regularly, sometimes at the same time, without much trouble. Obviously your mileage may vary, but it might be worth checking before paying full price for something.

2

u/unloader86 29d ago

I think Sling still has the two plans. I know one is a bit cheaper than the other but you might need both to watch all that you want.

YouTube TV is probably the best service, but it's pretty expensive. They do have a sports only package for like $65 but I doubt that'll also give you FXX and CN.

u/GiveMeSomeIhedigbo 29d ago edited 29d ago

The AFC and NFC South divisions are currently a combined 4-16 outside of their respective divisions. The Jaguars have half of those wins.

Gonna have like 500 movies by the time I’m done

1

u/Garp74 29d ago

2

u/DillyDillySzn 29d ago

A lot of them, I like a lot of movies

Some of the weird ones are John Tucker must die and Hitch, why the hell did my Mom save those

0

u/Skraxx 29d ago

Although I won't necessarily argue in favour of the Buccs blowing it up or anything, if the season is lost it may be a genuinely great opportunity to "reset" their cap situation a bit.

They're in the negatives for 2027 cap space and rollover won't really take them much over $0. They can create some more via trading rentals but I also think that it might be a good time to sell high on some of their bigger future cap hits.

I'm assuming the new HC will want to structure their team differently. Having lots of draft capital and space may be already necessary.

1

u/AfroManHighGuy 29d ago

They paid baker and have a lot of young talent on the roster. I think a new coach will have basically the same roster build as it is now. They need a new voice in that locker room and new offensive scheme. Baker can’t play hero ball anymore and save them like when he first got to Tampa

7

u/Phytanic 29d ago

Its ok, the packers have the same record as the the rams, that must mean we are absolutely crazy good this year right

Honestly, it sounds like he’s projecting some of his own insecurities onto you. And the annoying part is that I guarantee if you finally snapped and started making jokes about his weight, suddenly everyone would decide you’re the asshole because that’s a sensitive subject and “he’s trying his best.”

Meanwhile, you literally have a seizure disorder, something you have absolutely no control over, and somehow repeated jokes about that are supposed to be fine because it’s “dark humor” and you should just laugh it off. That’s a pretty ridiculous double standard.

You being able to joke about your own condition doesn’t give someone else unlimited permission to keep hammering away at it. If he expects basic consideration when it comes to his weight, he should be capable of extending the exact same courtesy to you.

It didn't end up making a difference in the end because the Saints gave the ball away to the Raiders about six trillion times in the 4th quarter, but the thing that annoyed me the most about that game yesterday was the refs calling a body weight RTP penalty when the Saints defender made a textbook tackle around Cousins' waist.

That's like the ideal tackling form at every level of football. I can understand the whole coming down with full body weight idea if you've got the QB up high and are driving his arms/head/shoulders into the ground (especially because the rule was put in place after Rodgers had his collarbone broken), but it's just a ridiculous call for a clean hit around the waist.

1

u/RukiMotomiya 29d ago

The body weight rule is bad.

5

u/IsGoIdMoney 29d ago

The body weight rule is terribly officiated and should be eliminated because of that, imo. It's often not called when it happens, and it's very frequently called when the defender does everything they can to not put weight on the QB. If it could be trusted to be a correct call like 90% of the time I would accept it, but it's too devastating a penalty to be so inaccurate, especially when the safety aspect of it is so relatively minor.

12

u/spiderman897 29d ago

Anyone with knowledge that can reassure me that republicans aren’t gonna successfully fuck up midterms?

4

u/SpiderGhost01 29d ago

They're sunk in the mid-terms. The presidential race is too far away, but if gas and grocery prices don't go down, he's probably done for. Hopefully I'm right.

5

u/The_Amish_FBI 29d ago

I think the fact that Republican candidates all over are trying to subtly distance themselves from Trump’s decisions says that they are at least aware and afraid of the backlash they’re about to receive. If they were confident they were going to remain in power, they’d still be playing the part of party loyalists.

English as a language is so funny. The term AI now means something completely different from the same term a few years ago. Everything from computer controlled PVE opponents in a video game, to bots, to Photoshop, to the phone system at a business, to full voice model companions, it’s all considered or at least referred to as AI now.

3

u/3p1cw1n 29d ago

AI has been used to refer to most of these things for a long time

3

u/IsGoIdMoney 29d ago

It hasn't changed meanings really. Laymen exposure was mostly to sci fi books, but I very rarely see anything called ai that doesn't match the definition put forth in the 1950s.

finished silent hill townfall, what I liked I really liked, the story, the atmosphere, the puzzles, i thought all of it was pretty awesome. i think it fundamentally struggles in its identity as a game though. fully admit that i could just be bad at the game but the story and message is built for stealth but feel like they just throw so many enemies at you that it feels near impossible to be stealthy.

3

u/SpiderGhost01 29d ago

I think it struggles in that it just doesn't quite have good enough monsters. There are basically two monsters, plus the main one that haunts you to the end. I think there needed to be more variety.

Plus, it never gets really crazy, the way the SH2 Remake does. You don't just get into an absolute nightmarish scenario like with Abstract Daddy.

I think it's a solid game, 7/10, possibly 8/10, it's just not quite up to par with where SH needs to be; especially as Resident Evil is pulling off games like RE:9, which is a step above Townfall.

Finished Kings of the Wyld by Nicholas Eames. This book has been on my TBR for a long time and I feel like I've seen it hyped up like crazy every time I'm looking for recommendations so it was nice to get through it. Overall I enjoyed it, but it didn't really live up to the hype. The humor felt like it was trying too hard, sometimes.

Fun concept, though. The greatest adventuring band ever from 20 years ago has to come out of retirement for one last ride. So you have the overweight drunk, the crazy old man, everyone complaining about knee and back pain, etc.

I've flown in many different countries with many different types of people. I try and fight against prisoner of the moment thoughts in the NFL. But I am over 40 and have been watching football for a very, very long time. And during that time I'm not sure I recall so many young Quarterbacks (27 and younger) who have struggled so much with year over year consistency.

These young guys just can't seem to stack years and seasons together. I hate to pick on one guy, but Drake Maye is the perfect example of this. He goes from excellent in 2025 to shockingly horrible in 2026. But there are so many other examples of this, to mostly lesser extremes, but still.

We could speculate as to why this is, but it's a trend I am keeping an eye on.

5

u/azure275 29d ago

I think if you're close to 40 you've just been spoiled by the greatest generation of QBs of all time. 40 puts your "fandom prime" around 2000 to start, or at most a bit earlier.

That is the era with 4 of the greatest QBs of all time in their primes (Brady, Rodgers, Brees and P. Manning) and another HOF shoe in Roethlisberger.

When guys like prime Rivers and Matt Ryan are clearly outside your top 5 QBs you're spoiled

8

u/StChas77 29d ago

Maybe things are changing out there in American right-wing Christianity. Yesterday evening I posted this, killing time during what I had erroneously assumed would be a Rams cake walk:

Nothing speaks to the state of American Christianity in 2026 with greater clarity than a front-page article on Christianity Today about how "Christians Should Delete Social Media." which includes this quote:

Social media is bad for you. It’s bad for the world, for politics, for young people. In fact, it’s bad for everybody, at every level, and no platform is exempt: not Facebook, not X, not Instagram or TikTok or Bluesky. Nor is there some edifying version of social media in the offing. (I’m looking at you, Substack Notes.) In the end, they’re all different portals to the same cesspool.

And below that article, and indeed in every article on their website, there are links to their social media pages on X, Facebook, Instagram, Telegram, WhatsApp, and YouTube (One can imagine they avoided Bluesky for being too leftist and TikTok because.... maybe they don't like Roll for Sandwich, I dunno).

Later on, after the wild second half, I decided to spare a glance at the Christian Post as well, which was full of the usual bullshit. But something caught my eye about a woman complaining about how too many right-wingers want to repeal the 19th amendment, so I looked. She tore into TPUSA for platforming one of those ghouls, though that wasn't the focus, but the surprising part were the comments.

When I used to do the Conservative Roundup the comment section was just as you'd expect, but last night there were dozens and dozens of people ripping Trump and MAGA in general in what felt like a full-on revolt. There were a couple of apologists, but the rest of them absolutely overloaded the discussion. It's just one comment section, and trolling exists of course, but this felt different, I'm not sure.

6

u/Weigard 29d ago

Gas gets below three dollars and they'll be back to trying to repeal the 13th Amendment.

6

u/goblueM 29d ago

"the president is in charge of gas prices" being actually true for once is breaking a lot of those people's minds i think

7

u/HartleyReplogle 29d ago

Everyone should delete social media, not just Christians.

3

u/FBsarepeopletoo 29d ago

I don't like saying a team is bad or good until week 5 (used to be week 4, but whatever), but Bowles, every year feels like he's trying to make his team bad. Baker's injury not counted, the shit going on in Tampa is... shit.

6

u/Skraxx 29d ago

Stroud talk.

He hasn't been bad. However, I think he's just kinda been... fine? I think it's a bit disingenuous when people say "he's not why the texans are losing".

Because while that's true, I don't think that's the standard the Texans should hold him to when a big money extension is on the table. I think the fear of letting a QB go is honestly too great these days, when we're in an NFL reality that proves that there's multiple avenues to offensive success.

8

u/The_Amish_FBI 29d ago

Some guy named Cody White having 3 receptions for 28 yards and 3 TDs on the season so far is my kind of statistic

3

u/WafflePartyOrgy 29d ago

On August 27, 2024, White was waived by the Seahawks as part of final roster cuts and re-signed to the practice squad the next day. On November 2, White was elevated to the active roster, and played in a Week 9 matchup against the Los Angeles Rams. He recorded two catches for 44 yards, and a blocked punt. White was signed to the active roster on November 16.

Those are "secret weapon" numbers right there. I hope the Raiders take care of him.

I had the day off work, so a buddy of mine came over to catch up and check out the Steam Machine and the Switch 2. I decided to show him a newer title on the Steam Machine, along with some indie games: 007 First Light, Tunic, Balatro, and How Many Dudes. Quick shoutout to IO Interactive because they did a great job with the tactical simulations in the game. My friend was able to pick it up and learn as he went relatively easily.

Then we got on the Switch 2, and I showed a few games: BOTW w/ the upgrade pack, Link's Awakening, and Mario Kart World. The highlight game was definitely Mario Kart for him. He had a lot of fun and I think a big reason why is because of how enjoyable it is playing a game with someone sitting right next to you, as opposed to just playing online with voice chat.

Safe to say I may have influenced him into getting a Switch 2
