News RIP Chad
https://www.instagram.com/p/DdhJvn2lRED/?stkn=MXA1OWo1dnNnOThuFrom Instagram:
“On the morning of September 20th, Chad Everett Gilbert passed away peacefully in his sleep. He left this world surrounded by friends and family and took his final breaths with his wife and mother by his side, just as he wished. We are devastated and shocked by how quickly he left us, yet so grateful for how peacefully and smoothly he went. The amount of visitors that crowded the hospital lobby at a moment's notice is a testament to how beloved and cherished Chad was, and always will be. He was a legendary musician, but his favorite accomplishment was being a husband and father. His biggest dreams came true. He is survived by his wife, Lisa, his daughter, Lily, his mother, Jackie, and his brother, Brian.
"Chad's guitar playing, songwriting, humor, and relentless drive helped shape New Found Glory for nearly three decades. Through more than a dozen albums, endless tours around the world, and more accolades than we ever could have imagined, Chad challenged all of us to grow as musicians, performers, and human beings. While we are devastated to lose him, we are so grateful for the incredible life he lived, the memories we shared, and the brotherhood we had. His influence will always be part of New Found Glory and his spirit will be felt on every stage we stand on, with every note we play."
Rest in peace, Chad. We love you forever Lisa, Jordan, lan, Cyrus, and Dan”

I can’t say I knew the man, but I’d met him on numerous occasions over the last ten years and I’m heartbroken. Awful news.

He was such a cool dude. I met him just right before the pandemic. The band finished their show and I went and hung out around the tour bus in the pouring rain. I was determined to meet them. Chad was the only one that came out and said he felt bad that I stood there for an hour in the pouring rain, so he gave me some free merch. One being a signed very early release copy of Forever + Ever x Infinity.

u/Blad514 Sep 20 '26
That’s awesome! He’d always take time to say hello to me and chat for a minute or two when I’d run into him.

This one hurts a lot.
Chad has been a true warrior.
Thinking of his family breaks my heart…

In 2008 I went to their concert at the House of Blues in Las Vegas with my gf (now wife). We got there early to eat at the venue before the concert and as we sat waiting to order, he was sitting at a table near us eating a burger.
We were stoked, he was super kind and greeted us as he finished and walked by. He told us to enjoy dinner and said “see you at the show later” as he walked out.
RIP Chad, you will be missed

u/mrwedders Sep 20 '26
Shit.
Was listening to Kill It Live the other day and one song Chad's chattering about "I wanna be 80 on a walker playing these songs." This sucks.

u/StateOfFine Sep 20 '26
Man what a bummer. RIP Chad, so glad I got to see you play half a dozen times. I also recently found out that Chad produced A Day To Remember’s “Homesick” and “What Separates Me From You.” He was a legend. You’ll be greatly missed.

I've grown up listening to nfg. Watching countless music videos, countless shows. It is a sad day for sure.

Absolutely devastating.
Although he always showed such fight and hope, his updates also showed just how much this horrible illness was doing to his body.
I’m so sorry for his wife and daughter that he won’t get to see her grow up. I can’t imagine how the rest of the band feel after all this time together. RIP Chad. It’s better where you’re going anyway.

Absolutely devastated. It seems like musicians and celebs are dying left and right these days, but this is the first time I've gasped out loud at news like this. I've been a fan of the band since Sticks & Stones and I even got to sing Failure's Not Flattering with them at a show once. Chad was the one who picked me out of the crowd and made sure I was OK as I came onstage. I just really don't know what to say. My thoughts are with the band and his family especially. His daughter is only 5. Fuck cancer
2
u/amandamaniac Sep 21 '26
I got to sing failures at a show too! FNF gang 🥲
2
u/Soalai Sep 21 '26
I emailed their photographer and said I'd pay for any photos but I never heard back 😢 All I have is an onstage selfie with Chad and Ian

u/amandamaniac Sep 21 '26
When I got back to my spot I looked at my friends and said omg please tell me someone took a video??!! Luckily one of them at the front of the crowd did, I found one on Snapchat, and a friend up in the seats took a full video. I was so nervous and never shared the video with anyone until yesterday, I decided posting it on my ig felt right. Chad gave me a big hug before I left the stage 🥺

u/Soalai Sep 21 '26
You're very lucky! I did look back on Insta but couldn't find any videos of mine. It was 2018 so I doubt I ever will at this point 🥺

u/LossyP Sep 20 '26
I’m absolutely gutted. I knew it was a possibility but always felt like he’d pull thru. Fuck. RIP Chad. Thank you for everything.

Absolutely ugly cried on my way home from work and let "The story for far" finish playing before I went into my house. Seen them 31x since the age of 15, am now 41. After I battled breast cancer, I got my NFG tattoo that reads "every darkness, I'll shine through". On their acoustic tour they did, I handed Chad a "fuck cancer" bracelet and I wasn't even to my car yet when msged me on Insta thanking me for the bracelet and we chatted for a few minutes. They're one of those bands I grew up with , made many friends due to their music, and I could tell you why was going on in my life when each album came out.
I knew this was coming but fuck, this fucking sucks. Fuck cancer, and all the love to his family and friends.

Incredibly sad news. Chad was definitely the heart of New Found Glory and what drew so many people to the band. He always made sure to spend time with fans, just talking or taking pictures. I met him numerous times over the past 23 years and the past 10 or so years he always made sure to wave to me from the stage. He was always so sweet and loved being in NFG.

u/vanesiiita Sep 20 '26
In 2014, they did two super last minute shows in some warehouses in Broward with 200 people at a time and I was lucky enough to be there. ❤️❤️

26 years ago, I was a nerdy little kid who knew fuck all about music. I heard a song called "All the Small Things" in my local warhammer store one day, and it clicked for me. The next day at school I asked a much more worldly mate if he could burn me a few CD's that were like that. The next day he gave me copies of "Enema of the State" "Dookie" and "New Found Glory."
Wow. That album changed my life. I still love Blink and Greenday but the songs on that album just spoke to me. Better off Dead, Dressed to Kill, Sincerely Me, Hit or Miss, Second to Last...to this day I think that is the best opening to an album ever.
Then he went and doubled down on his rockstar credentials by going and marrying my ultimate childhood crush!
He lived a good life, but he's gone far too soon.
Rest in Power Chad. There will forever be an empty chair at all the tables.

I wanted to share this clip of NFG from 2023. It was an acoustic show from the make the most of it album. I was blessed to be able to attend this show, and see Chad. This band helped raise me, and you could feel the energy at this show, even though it was acoustic and mellow. I did the meet and greet, and even had a brief interaction with Chad after. I was wearing an NFG sweatshirt, and heard someone yell “nice sweatshirt” as I was crossing the street. It was Chad, I was so stoked to see him. While it was a brief interaction, it meant so much to me that he took the time to acknowledge that. During the show they took some time to explain the kind of cancer that Chad was battling, and donated money to help find a cure. I will be blasting NFG all day in his honor.

This is a horrible year for music. Rest in power Chad.
I remember seeing NFG in 2006. I still have the shirt from the gig.

RIP Chad. You and the gang made my youth so great. And even in middle age, so much of those songs resonate with me. I’ll miss you like hell.

Man, I’m just crushed by this. Listened to NFG since Nothing Gold Can Stay. He brought so much life and energy to the group. I know he’s been battling for a long time. Glad he went peacefully. RIP king!!! You will be missed. Let’s toast the night away to friends and forget about tomorrow.

Grew up in South Florida specifically Broward county. The amount of times I saw these guys and actually played a couple of shows as a lowly opening band I lost count. From Club Q to the Chili Pepper all the way to the Coral Springs sports complex for New Found Glory day. I was there and everything single time it was Chad who always stole the show. I didn't know him personally but we meet multiple times through these channels and always the kindest person in the room. This hurts and he will be missed.

u/Drewdogg12 Sep 20 '26
Fuck. Chad and nfg meant alot to me and my ex wife. Chad always had a kind word and time to chat. I actually bought chads old SG. Which he used on tour and in the head on collision video. I bought it and had the whole band sign it. And gave it to my wife for our anniversary. I will play it today in memorial of him. RIP. CHAD. You will always be a huge part of every fans lives.

I’ve seen NFG 30+ times and every time it was such an amazing experience. My favorite Chad memory:
Instead of prom my senior year(2009) me and my friends drove to Myrtle Beach(from Atlanta) to go see them at the House of Blues and camp on the beach. It was the Not Without a Fight tour, Bayside, Set Your Goals, and Shai Hulud all opened. I can’t remember which set it happened during but before Bayside came on there was a fight that broke out in the pit. And security dragged them out and they got booted. When NFG finally came out it was revealed that Chad spoke up for the guys and they let them stay but had sit up in a balcony out of the crowd. It’s always stuck with me. RIP Chad, thanks for everything.

I'll be listening to "Make the Most of it" on repeat all week.
Incredible writing. What a gift he gave us.
Today is all we get I want to live in it Find its meaning See your beauty When I wake up I kiss the floor Breathing the air deeper than ever before
The line about his daughter gets me everytime

Had the pleasure of seeing NFG multiple times in the UK traveled around the country following them for one tour. Stay gold skin deep also.
My wife cried when Dolly Parton passed only for me to cry when I heard the news about Chad. Being 38 they’ve got me through a lot in life . Chad lives on forever in his music , such a humble dude in real life also . Rest in power XChadballX gone far far too soon 💔

I interviewed Chad nearly a decade ago and it was so fun to hear his behind the scenes stories from videos and gigs - he told me how Ian’s vomiting tube during the “Happy Being Miserable” video got knocked off kilter so he was just fake throwing up out of the top of his head. What a huge loss.

I clearly remember trying to record Hit Or Miss on a cassette tape off of the local alternative radio station in May 2001. That’s how much this band stole my heart and like so many others here, NFG are an essential part of the soundtrack to my youth. I remember going to buy a physical copy of self titled and just holding it in my hands in the car, so super excited to listen to it as soon as I got home. I remember going to Target with my brothers to buy Catalyst. I remember taking walks in the neighborhood I grew up in listening to Coming Home (especially “Boulders”) on gray, rainy days. I remember just rocking the fuck out to “Listen To Your Friends” in the car. I’ve seen NFG live more than any other band and I feel young and alive every single time.
In the words of another revered pop-punk statesman, I guess this is growing up.
