Helloo, this is a student from Myanmar and I need your help for my projects. We need your contribution in our surveys to complete our projects.
Flood Risks and Disaster Prevention in Myanmar: https://forms.cloud.microsoft/r/JnETm9VcRv
Public Opinions on Construction Bans in High-Risk Disaster Zones: https://forms.cloud.microsoft/r/ecSP1N9SCn
it would help us A LOT A LOT so pls answer and share to your friends. We only have the minimum amount of survey for both right now!!
This is the perfect community because our projects base on Myanmar issues about disaster risk reduction. We'll be researching on how to prevent disaster risks in our country.

Numerous other people and organizations, including Gurkha community centers and hotels, have also been seized or arrested.

I have this palm leaf scroll/book/manuscript. I think it's Burmese, but not sure. Anyone here that have an idea what is in the text? and if it is old or some newer version of something?
I have two "scrolls" from an estate. The name Søren Egerod a danish specialist in Burmese is mentioned with normal letters in one of the scrolls.
Søren Egerod (1923-1995)
The estate is not from Søren Egerod, so what the connection is I do not know.
I hope someone knows something to help me on the road to what i actually have here :)

so Mytel has in the past weeks massively expanded 5G to the point nearly every big enough town has it.
This is in Kyaukme, North Shan State.
What do you think about it? Do you have it?
(this is reaching starlink speeds.)

Do you guys know why arr pu shar puu is rarely available in typical burmese menu? Like, it's available in dedicated shops like Min Lan but not in like shwe pa lin or typical tea shops...
Is it not popular or is it hard to cook or is it ethnic?
If so, mohinga seems harder to cook with more ingredients and need speicifc kind of fish too and Shan noodles are always in the menu even tho its ethnic.

I received a total of 5 phone calls from two different numbers back to back. The first one called me, I picked up and they said nothing. All I heard was faint background noises. (people talking, children playing etc) They didn't say anything and they also didn't seem to hear me so I hang up. I, then, got another call from another number and when I picked up, I got hit with "အားယားနေတာ မဟုတ်ဘူး ခဏခဏ ခေါ်မနေနဲ့". I've never called any of those numbers ever in my life.
I could barely hear the other person from both calls so I'm thinking it's a hardware issue ergo 2 sims on the same device?
I looked it up and it says something about scammers using my number as a fake caller Id.
Has my number been compromised? I've been using the same number since 2015-2016 so my pubescent self might've signed up on some sketchy websites so it might've been in some data leaks but why call now? Lol.

The Japanese top division is arguably the best in Asia along with the Saudi League, so it's very impressive to see a Burmese player at that level.
To give you context, Pyae Lyan Aung was a Myanmar national team keeper who was granted asylum by the Japanese government in 2021. He then tried out for a Japanese THIRD division team and couldn't make it. He even said the Myanmar national team would lose if they play against a team from the Japanese third division because the quality is very good there.
Kaung Zan Mara got signed by a team in the Japanese FIRST division. It just shows how good he is compared to the best keepers in Myanmar.
Now 24, he has dreams to play for the Japan national team. It's a very ambitious dream because in the last two World Cups, Japan beat Spain and Germany, and draw with the Netherlands. They are a very good national team.
His another dream is to play for the German giants Bayern Munich one day.
Currently, Kaung Zan Mara has been loaned out to Japanese second division team Vanraure Hachinohe to get some valuable playing time.
Born in Tokyo to a Rakhine dad and a Bamar mom, his parents must be so proud to see both their kids become top level athletes in Japan.

Lately, I’ve been seeing an increasing number of job listings in Myanmar for positions titled "Talent."
These aren't media companies or talent agencies—these are standard retail, consumer goods, and commercial businesses. But when you look at the actual job responsibilities, it boils down to one primary task: doing trending dances on Live streams or short videos on Tt to push sales.
I find this both frustrating and confusing.
First, misusing the term "Talent" for basic algorithmic trend-chasing seems completely disconnected from real skill or strategic marketing. But more importantly, from a business perspective, this is a terrible long-term marketing strategy.
Here is why this approach will backfire and lead to negative sales over time:
1. If you are known for dancing, you are NOT known for your brand.
Views do not equal brand equity. When a user watches a 10-second viral dance, they remember the song or the person—they do not remember the product quality, the brand name, or why they should buy it. The dancer gets the attention, while the product remains completely invisible.
2. It destroys pricing power and positioning.
If a business relies entirely on low-effort entertainment tricks to sell, it signals to the market that the product cannot stand on its own merit. Customers view the brand as a cheap novelty rather than a reliable, high-value provider.
3. High views, low conversion (The Vanity Metric Trap).
People scrolling on social media for cheap entertainment have zero purchase intent. Gathering thousands of empty views from scrollers who never intend to buy creates a false sense of performance. Meanwhile, actual paying customers who care about product details and value are turned off by the noise.
4. Zero customer retention.
When the current video trend dies or the "Talent" leaves the company, what remains of the brand? Nothing. There is no customer loyalty, no unique selling proposition, and no foundation for repeat purchases.
Trading product credibility for temporary algorithmic hype isn't building a business—it's just broadcasting noise.
Are local businesses just blindly copying this trend without understanding conversion economics, or do people actually believe that dancing around on camera leads to sustainable growth?

I’m a foreigner who visited Yangon back in May and purchased an eSIM at the airport. During my 7-day stay, I received multiple texts reminding me to pay the CEIR tax within 30 days, but I left the country without paying.
I’ll be returning next month with the same phone. Does anyone know if I’ll have issues activating a new eSIM or using mobile data because I never paid the tax?
Has anyone been in a similar situation? Do tourists get another 30-day grace period when reentering Myanmar, or is the phone’s IMEI already blocked?

I've been working on an idea called Docs-Ready, a project aimed at making it easier for developers to set up their own documentation websites.
Getting a documentation site started can take more work than expected. You need to configure the design, set up navigation, organize content, customize the branding, and get everything ready to run and deploy. I want to make that process simpler.
The idea behind Docs-Ready is to provide a prebuilt documentation website that people can customize through a guided setup experience. They can choose a theme, adjust colors and typography, add their own branding, and configure the layout before downloading a ready-to-run project.
The important part is that the generated website belongs to the user. They can modify the code, manage their pages through Markdown and GitHub, and deploy it wherever they want. The goal is to reduce the setup work without locking people into a hosted service or taking control away from them.
I'm building this as a free, open-source project, and I'd like to find people who are interested in helping shape it into something useful for the developer community.
I'm hoping to connect with three potential maintainers:
You don't need to commit to everything immediately. I'd rather find people who genuinely care about the idea and are interested in building something together.
If this sounds interesting, send me a DM and tell me a little about yourself, your experience, and which area you'd like to help with. If you have a GitHub profile, portfolio, personal website, or examples of previous work, feel free to share those too.
I'm not sharing the repository publicly just yet. For now, I'd like to connect with interested people, exchange ideas, and see who might be a good fit for the project.
Thanks.

I don't know who the original artist was, but saw this on Facebook and I guess it's worth a share. Imagine kids grew up in this condition and I'm pretty sure complex trauma will ruin their lives forever. Poor things. 😭
