Help finding war horn
In a few games when someone has gotten a kill ive heard a war horn where it sounds like the pilot saying "Reactor breached ejecting!" over the radio or something similar. Anyone know what war horn that is or if it even is one? I cant find it going through all the previews in the mech lab.

Help with Trick or Treat Mech redeem decision.
Hello, i was looking at the mechs available from the Trick or Treat event, and I'm 200 loot bags away from being able to redeem my first one. This reminded me of the horrible choices I made with the summer event mech choices, and I wanted to ask the community what are your opinions about each available mech, and which ones would be a decent, if at least fun, choice to pick.
I have to say out of the gate, I don't know how to play poptart style mechs ( I can never get the timing of the jump jets right), but other than that, I can pretty much roll with what's there. I just don't want to make a choice that I will regret later, seen as I've picked mechs before because "Haha funny quirk" and went to be completely dumpstered while playing that (cases being "0% jam chance wolverine" and "instant zap heavy laser maddog).
Just to make it easier, here's the list of mechs:
- UM-IIC-2 (Urbie) "Abaddon"
- SHD-IIC-DT (Shadowhawk Clan) "Dante"
- VGL-GL (Vapor Eager) "Gorewing"
- UZL-BE (Uziel) "Belial"
- EBJ-EC (Ebon Jaguar) "Esprit De Corps"
- MDD-RV (Mad Dog) "Revenant"
- MAD-B (Marauder) "Blight"
- BLR-1GHE (Battlemaster) "Hellslinger"

Loyalty Mech Indecision
Hey everybody. Old player here who quit for the longest time now making a comeback after that big steam sale. Now that I'm playing again I've qualified to pick up some old returning loyalty mechs from this year's loyalty event and I don't know what ones to pick.
I know all the loyalty mechs are reskins of other variants so it doesn't really matter what ones I get mechanically speaking, but PGI doesn't make it easy to look up what the loyalty mechs actually LOOK like despite their different livery being the entire point of getting them. So I'm asking other players who already have some of them to post images of your favorite loyalty mechs for people like me who are having trouble deciding what ones to pick up.
The only loyalty mechs I currently already have are from what I can tell some of the oldest. the Atlas AS7-S(L), the King Crab KGC-000(L) and the Centurion CN9-AH(L).

I have returned, and noticed there's a mech sale. Any suggestions?
Last time I was playing much, the firemoth was just announced. I was just curious if anyone had any suggestions on a good mech (or couple) to buy while the sale is going for a bunch of bundles/special mechs right now.
I have 3 mechs at the moment, a little AMS and laser laden KFX-PR, a double rotary cannon BSW-P2 (based on the trial mech), and a BAS-PRIME gauss cannon sniper. All three of which I enjoy greatly, but I'm looking to branch out a bit! Any suggestions would be awesome :)

My two mains for MWO, Marauder MAD-3R(S) "The Warden", and Marauder MAD-B Blight.
galleryThe long climb to Tier 1
I started playing MWO, on a lark, in February of 2024. As of a few minutes ago, I finally crossed into Tier 1 pilot rating. I'm sure there were probably more optimal ways of accomplishing this, including not dorking around with sub-optimal builds for a long period of time.
The thing I wanted to share was that the climb involved different mechs along the way.
At one point, I was at 0 pilot rating. Like, 0 in Tier 5. Not even a single pixel bar worth of rating. I used a Warthog Adder with HMGs and a Flamer to climb out of Tier 5 and into 4. I used a bunch of Urbies (mostly the K9) and Hunchbacks to climb out of Tier 4 and into Tier 3.
From there, it was mostly a lot of time in a Jenner JR7-A, the one with 0 cooldown with a single binary mounted. That thing was hell on wheels as a flanker. That took me into Tier 2 where I stalled.
I ended up switching to another Urbie, the UM-IIC-M with LMGs and double heavy lasers which took me through Tier 2 and into Tier 1.
I had seen it written somewhere that you need to consistently end up with a match score 250+ and I was no exception.
What I think is an interesting observation is that some builds just become a lot less viable as you move up certain tiers. Builds I would see all the time just kinda... disappear as you move up tiers. LRM boating still exists, but it's a lot less common. I haven't seen a Grasshopper in ages.
So if you find yourself wanting to move up and getting stuck, maybe it's not your pilot skill. Maybe you're just in the wrong mech for the tier you're in.
This is just all my observations, your mileage may vary, etc etc etc.

Comp season free mech?
Previous comp seasons had a code for a free mech, is there one this time around?

Is there any mech that can make Beam Lasers viable?
Been looking at those beam lasers. Tried them on a cougar, then tried them on a Sigma (the worst Hero Heavy I could have picked from the loot bag event, super regret it), I stare at some centurion for 6 full seconds, 13.2 damage per second, staring at his leg, armor doesn't even orange.
What chassis can make Beam Lasers viable? Is there any way it can even get through armor and damage components before some SRM boat box of bolts obliterates your mech with two taps? Asking because I like them, but I feel like they are too weak for how long and how much heat they take to do anything (which is close to nothing).

What's the deal with the built-in railgun on the Mad-X?
Specifically the marauder 2 mad-x, you can't remove it, and it seems to charge up slower than most other railguns- is it like, a more heavy hitting railgun?
Any good builds for this beauty, by the way? Just got one today.
