General What is this black substance? On Mahim and Dadar Sea bed

Thumbnail

During low tide on the revealed sea bed, I found large areas seemingly looking like normal sand, but under it there was this thick black layer, I want to know what it is. Doesn't have an oily consistency, and if it gets on your hand you can easily wash it off. It was a few inches deep, and almost like quick sand. You will need to walk way back where the water retreats during the low tides to find this. Looks like some artificial pollutants, potentially hazardous for health.

Is there nothing we can do for this? We’ve been stuck in Aarey for 45 mins all because people couldn’t wait and had to go through the wrong lane and then get stuck.
People have literally zero civic sense, if everyone could just drive in their own lanes, it would’ve been so much better! But no these two wheelers and autowalas JUST HAVE to.
I know the video isn’t properly depicting the issue, but i think minimum 100 bikes and autos must’ve passed us from the wrong lane. Just literally fed up with the traffic situation of Mumbai.

Edit: People have left enough space in the left for all bikes, but still majority of them chose to overtake and go through the right, where the lane is already narrow.

Also I did not pass through from the wrong lane.

Discussion Why are Marathi business owners so ‘non business like’?

• Upvotes

Saw a reel about a Thane based Chakli/ faral maker, it gave the contact to order. Reel specifically mentioned that the orders can be placed on call, and was basically asking to promote marathi businesses.

Being marathi myself I got in touch and asked if they could deliver in Powai. The answer was a point black no., so I asked why the reel is misleading. The reply left me speechless:

- Lady first said that some Insta creator has mistakenly added that and she never delivers, customers have to pickup themselves

- After 2 hours she sends a voice note that the reel only says orders can be placed on call and doesn’t say she will deliver.

Hers isn’t a small business, she makes chakli using machines. So you can imagine the scale. And yet the behaviour is so non business like. We were a group of 3-4 families who were planning to place orders but now I guess we will buy from our local Gujju shop. So much for trying to promote Marathi Businesses.

General Wet N Joy Lonavala: The Complete First-Timer’s Guide (October 2026) — Tickets, Transport, Lockers, Food & Money-Saving Tips

I know you’ve probably been searching everywhere for a proper guide to Wet N Joy Lonavala, but couldn’t find one that explained everything you actually need to know before visiting. Reddit posts, YouTube videos, and other guides often leave out the small details that can make a big difference.
So this guide is for you!

I visited Wet N Joy yesterday, in October 2026, and I’m writing down everything I experienced so you can plan your trip better, avoid unnecessary expenses, and get the most out of your day.

I’ll cover everything from travelling from Mumbai to Lonavala, reaching the park, booking tickets, lockers, food, express passes, and a few personal tips that I wish I’d known beforehand.

1. Travelling from Mumbai to Lonavala 🚆
If you’re travelling from Mumbai, I’d recommend taking a morning train to Lonavala.
You can check trains departing from CSMT or other suitable Mumbai stations. The Intercity Express and Deccan Express are options worth checking, depending on the departure station and timing.
Ticket price: Around ₹100 per person for a second-class seating ticket in my experience.

Journey time: Approximately 2–2.5 hours, depending on the train.

My advice: Take a morning train so you can reach the park early and maximise your time there.
Reaching Lonavala by train is the easy part. The real question is how to get from Lonavala station to Wet N Joy.

2. How to reach Wet N Joy from Lonavala station 🚕

You basically have three options:

Option 1: Car or taxi
You’ll find people offering cars and taxis for around ₹400–₹500. This could make sense if you’re travelling with a larger group and can split the fare.

Option 2: Auto-rickshaw
We were a group of three, so we looked for an auto instead.
Initially, the drivers were quoting around ₹400–₹500. After negotiating, we finally got one for ₹300.
Honestly, I still felt ₹300 was a little expensive, but the drivers weren’t willing to go lower, and we didn’t want to waste our trip time negotiating any further.

My advice: Negotiate before getting into the auto. Don’t assume the first price quoted is the final price.

Option 3: Bus
There is also a local bus option that you can investigate. I believe the relevant bus stop is some distance from the railway station, potentially requiring a walk of around 2 km, so please verify the route and boarding point before relying on it.

If you’re travelling with family members or friends who don’t want to walk much, especially in the heat, I’d recommend checking the bus route carefully beforehand.

The auto ride from the station took approximately 20–25 minutes or potentially longer, depending on traffic.

3. Where should you book your tickets? 🎟️
This is one of the most important parts if you want to save money.
I would recommend comparing the final checkout price on District, BookMyShow, and the official Wet N Joy website before paying.
In my experience, the official website’s final price included CGST and SGST charges, which increased the amount payable. Third-party platforms may have different offers or checkout charges, so compare the final price rather than just the advertised ticket price.

A few things to keep in mind:
Check Tuesdays and Thursdays first. These were the days I’d suggest checking for cheaper tickets, as weekday pricing can be more attractive.

Look for card offers and promotional discounts on District and BookMyShow.

Read the ticket description carefully before booking.
Don’t assume every ticket includes access to both the water park and amusement park.

Verify the exact inclusions, validity, and any restrictions on the ticket you’re purchasing.
My recommendation is to compare the final price across platforms and choose whichever gives you the best deal for the access you actually want.

4. Opening time and lockers 🔐
The water park opened at around 10 AM during our visit.
We needed a locker to keep our belongings safe while enjoying the rides.
Here’s what we paid:
Locker charge: ₹400.
Refund at exit: ₹100.
Effective cost after refund: ₹300.
Keep your locker receipt and key safe. You’ll need to return them according to the park’s procedure to receive the refundable amount.
Also, expect crowds at the locker area, especially when school trips and other large groups are visiting. We experienced quite a bit of rush, so allow some extra time for getting organised.

5. Should you buy the Express Pass? 🎢
Personally, I wouldn’t recommend buying it without first considering the crowd and the extra cost.

When we enquired, the Express Pass was being offered for approximately ₹826 extra per person.
The biggest drawback, based on what we were told, was that express access was available only once per ride. After using that privilege on a particular ride, you couldn’t keep using the pass to skip the queue on that same ride.
We were initially considering whether to buy it, but I’m glad we didn’t make a rushed decision.
After the lunch period, we noticed that the crowds had reduced considerably and several slides had much shorter queues. We could enjoy more rides without paying extra for express access.

My suggestion:
If the park is extremely crowded and your time is limited, you can consider the Express Pass.
If you’re visiting on a quieter day, you might not need it.
If you decide against it, be patient during the initial rush and use the quieter period later in the day.
Crowd levels can vary depending on the date, school trips, holidays, and weather, so this isn’t a guarantee. It’s simply what worked for us.

6. Food prices and what should you eat? 🍽️

There are two main options I’d suggest considering.

Option A: Unlimited buffet
The unlimited buffet was priced at approximately ₹450 per person during our visit.
The price displayed to us was ₹450, inclusive of the applicable charges, with no additional GST added to that amount at checkout.
Before choosing it, check the displayed menu and decide whether the available dishes justify the price for you.
We personally weren’t particularly impressed by the available buffet options, so we decided not to go with it.

Option B: Individual meal options
We opted for individual meal options instead.
The meals we looked at were around ₹380 per person. There were vegetarian options, including Punjabi meals, Chinese meals, and rice-based meals.
Personally, I’d suggest checking out the Punjabi or Chinese meal options first, depending on what you like.
The portions seemed sufficient for one person, and this option made more sense for us than paying for an unlimited buffet we weren’t particularly interested in.
If you have a very large appetite, compare the buffet menu with the individual meal options before deciding.

What about drinks and water?
During our visit, drinks were around ₹70, while a bottle of water was approximately ₹30.
These are the prices we encountered, so check the current menu and prices when you visit.

7. My biggest tip: Don’t leave the amusement park until the next trip! 🎡
This was probably one of the best decisions we made during our visit.
Try to finish your water park activities by around 4:30 PM.
Give yourself enough time to get changed, collect your belongings, and complete the locker return and refund procedure. Once you’re done, head over to the amusement park if your ticket includes access.
During our visit, the amusement park had very little crowd compared with the water park. We were able to enjoy several amusement rides without spending ages waiting in queues.
Instead of spending the entire day in the water park and leaving, we managed to enjoy the water slides and still experience some amusement park rides.
That’s what made the trip feel genuinely worth the money!
Of course, check the current operating hours for both parks and the rides you want to visit. Don’t leave everything until the last minute, as ride timings and closing times can vary.

8. My final tips before you visit

Here’s my quick checklist for anyone planning their first trip:

Book a morning train if you’re travelling from Mumbai.

Negotiate the auto fare before starting your journey.

Compare ticket prices across District, BookMyShow, and the official website.

Check whether your ticket includes both parks.
Keep your locker key and receipt safe.

Don’t automatically spend extra on an Express Pass.

Compare the buffet and individual meal prices before ordering.

Try to finish the water park by around 4:30 PM so you can enjoy the amusement park too.

Keep some extra money aside for transport, food, lockers, and other expenses.

Check the latest prices, park timings, and ticket conditions before travelling, as these can change.
Final thoughts

Overall, we had a really enjoyable trip, and with a little planning, I think you can avoid spending unnecessarily and get much more out of your visit.
I made this post because I know how frustrating it is to plan a trip when every guide seems to leave out something important. Hopefully, this helps someone who is planning to visit Wet N Joy for the first time.
If you have any questions, feel free to comment below or message me! I’ll do my best to help based on my experience and whatever information I have.
Have fun, plan smartly, and make the most of your trip! 😄

Discussion For people who drive two wheelers

I genuinely have a question for people who drive two wheelers.
Why most of yall think that traffic rules are not for you ?
Always skipping signals causing others to jerk break. Always overtaking like there’s an emergency.
Always crowding up at a signal ahead of another bike and then another bike causing pedestrians to not be able to walk as the zebra crossing and taken over.
Always leaving it on the 4 wheelers to pay attention to if you’re gonna over take from the left or right or sneakily come in from blind spots and then get pissed at 4 wheelers for not seeing you
And always honking, continuous honking.

Relationships Paradox, hinge, stutter

I went on a Hinge date and got generationally humbled 😭

So I matched with this girl on Hinge, and at first, I thought it was just another normal match. But the more we talked, the more I realised she was literally the kind of woman I’d been looking for my entire life. She’d send me cute voice notes, we’d yap for hours, and we were slowly getting to know each other. The only problem was that I went on a family vacation, so we couldn’t meet for the first 15 days

And then I found out that by the time I got back to Mumbai, she’d be leaving for her own family vacation. 😭 So naturally, I travelled 1,200 km back to Mumbai and went on a date with her the SAME DAY

And proceeded to fumble the generational bag.

I had a headache and a cold!!!

Then we went to her favourite café, and I swear, she was so beautiful that my brain just stopped functioning. This girl was still trying her best to keep the conversation going, telling me stories and sharing things about herself, while I was fighting for my life trying to form a coherent sentence.

She ordered fries and pasta, and I was so nervous I barely ate anything.
My childhood stutter, which I thought I’d left behind years ago, decided this was the perfect moment to make a comeback. Every time I wanted to say something, my brain had the words ready, but my mouth apparently hadn’t received the memo.

And then we went for a walk along Worli Promenade. The weather was perfect, the cold breeze was hitting just right, the whole setting was ridiculously romantic. Literally EVERYTHING was cooperating except me. 😭

The worst part? She even started opening up and sharing her secrets with me, and I could tell she was genuinely trying to build a connection. Meanwhile, I was acting like an NPC whose dialogue options hadn’t loaded yet.

I’d never dated anyone before, and this was literally my first date ever. And now she’s ghosted me.

I genuinely wish I could get one more chance with her, just one date where I’m not sick, nervous, or fighting demons from my childhood. I’d love for her to meet the version of me she got to know through those texts.

But yeah, I know I probably ruined it. It’s just funny how you can spend weeks getting comfortable with someone over text, only to meet them in person and suddenly forget how to be a functioning member of society.

The BMC has issued a seven-day boil-and-filter water advisory for several Mumbai wards, including parts of the island city and eastern suburbs, following the scheduled recommissioning of Compartment No. 2 of the Yewai balancing reservoir on October 28.

The precautionary measure also covers areas of Thane and Bhiwandi supplied by the BMC, as the process could affect water quality. Residents have been advised to boil and filter drinking water during this period.

General GMLR Phase 4: Mangroves at risk in Mumbai, compensatory plantation planned 866 km away in Chandrapur.

Post image
411 Upvotes

Goregaon-Mulund Link Road (GMLR) Phase 4 project could affect 8.2 acres of mangroves in Bhandup, along with hundreds of trees.

According to reports, compensatory plantation is planned in Chandrapur district, around 866 km away from Mumbai.

So, Mumbai loses its mangroves, but replacement trees will be planted hundreds of kilometres away. How does that compensate for the loss of green cover in Mumbai?

Mangroves play an important role in protecting coastal areas and supporting local wildlife. Planting trees in another district cannot replace these local environmental benefits.

These monitors are about as accurate as a weighing scale in a shady gym that always says you’ve lost 5 kg.

Next innovation: bottle the air as “Himalayan Fresh.”

Even a kid knows these are just expensive paperweights.

Careers Looking for actors M & F

Hi, We’re looking for two people to feature in a short, cinematic reel about existentialism.

This is a one-off project for now, but we’re building a brand storytelling studio, and there could be opportunities for paid gigs down the line!

Our page has crossed 5.4M views in the last 30 days, and we’re just getting started.

If you’re based in or around Andheri, Mumbai, that would be ideal. No proper acting experience needed, but it would help if you genuinely believe you’re comfortable in front of the camera and can act.

Interested? Drop me a DM!

Discussion How do people even commute nowadays?

As someone who has grown up in Mumbai and was away for about a decade and moved back now, I am struggling to understand how people manage daily commutes here.

Roads, metros and local train all seem to be stretched way beyond the capacity. Roads are worse as drivers are following zero traffic rules and it’s like a total circus.

With commute itself taking so much attention and effort it is definitely driving down actual productivity of everyone in the city.

Basically looking for simple answer to what is the best reliable commute option and is there any reason to be hopeful about things improving?

Relationships The Man will gets respect only when you earn.

I'm 19M from a typical Indian family. I was earning for the last two years, but recently left my job to focus on building my own business.

Now I work late, sometimes until 2–3 AM, and have 3–4 meetings daily. But since I'm not earning right now, my family has started treating me differently.

Today, they pulled off my blanket, shouted at me (Teri vajah se ghar me jagde ho rahe hai) for waking up late, mocked my meetings and said "Meetings karta raheta hai jese koi bada officer ho", and stopped talking to me properly. They don't let me do anything be myself, even can't wear clothes of my dressing sense.

The funny part? When I had a job and gave money at home, nobody cared if I stayed up late or woke up late. Everything was fine as long as I was earning.

I understand their concerns, but it hurts when your efforts mean nothing until they start making money.

Kamao bhai, jitna ho sake utna kamao. Not just for a luxurious life, but for financial independence and freedom. I will say ki family vale bhi nahi dekhege agar kama nahi rahe hoge.

Main toh phas gaya hun, tumhare paas option hai toh kamao.

General 🧡 Looking for a Forever Home for Kaju, a 2-Month-Old Orange Kitten in Malad, Mumbai 🐾

Thumbnail

Hi everyone!

I’m looking for a loving forever home for Kaju, an adorable 2-month-old Indian kitten. 🐈🧡

Kaju is a little orange cutie who has been living with me for the past two weeks. I’ve been trying to find the right person to adopt him, but I haven’t found a home that feels like the right match just yet. I don’t want to rush this decision because I really want him to go to a home where he will be loved, cared for, and treated as family.

A little about Kaju:
🐾 Male Indian kitten
🧡 Gorgeous orange fur
🎂 Approximately 2 months old
💊 Deworming done
📍 Location: Malad, Mumbai

A small but important request for potential adopters ❤️

I’m not just looking for someone who wants a kitten. I’m looking for someone who is genuinely ready to welcome him into their life and take responsibility for him.

Ideally, I would love for Kaju to go to a home where someone is regularly present to give him company, affection, and attention, especially because he is still so little. I want him to feel safe, comfortable, and truly at home, rather than being left alone for long hours.

Cats need more than food and shelter. They need love, patience, playtime, companionship, and proper care. If you’re considering adopting Kaju, please make sure you’re prepared to give him all of these things and commit to caring for him as he grows.

I know these are specific expectations, but I would rather take my time finding the right family for him than rush him into a home that may not be the best fit.

I’ve also bought some food and other essentials for Kaju, which I’m happy to provide to his adopter to help him settle into his new home. 🐾

If you’re genuinely interested in adopting Kaju and can offer him a loving, safe, and attentive home, please DM me. I’d be happy to speak with you and find out if we’re the right fit.

Please share this post with anyone in Mumbai who might be looking to adopt a kitten. It would mean a lot to help this little boy find his forever family. 🧡

Let’s find Kaju a home where he isn’t just a pet, but a little member of the family. 🏡🐈

Discussion Mumbai vs Delhi NCR (Gurgaon): Is the Mumbai hype justified?

I recently graduated from college and got placed as a software engineer at a big bank. We were given the option to choose between Mumbai and Delhi NCR, and a huge portion of my batch chose Mumbai, probably influenced by its reputation and being 'city of dreams' .

My elder brother, who has lived in both cities, strongly advised me to choose Delhi NCR. He warned me about Mumbai's ridiculous rents, tiny houses, dirtiness, traffic, overcrowded transport, expensive healthcare, and poor value for money. Since my family of four has always lived in a 1,500 sq ft, 3BHK in Rajasthan, I couldn't really imagine what he meant. I'd never even visited Mumbai.

We had two months of training in Hyderabad, which I absolutely loved. After training, my friend went to Mumbai while I moved to Gurgaon.

Our company provided a two-week hotel stay. In Gurgaon, everyone got their own room. My friends in Mumbai had to share hotel rooms because accommodation was so expensive and space was limited.

Within two weeks, I found a fully furnished 1RK with AC near the Sector 42–43 metro station for ₹17,000/month. It was a six-minute walk to the metro, with convenient connectivity to my office in Cyber Hub.

Meanwhile, my friend in Mumbai, whose office was in BKC, was looking at spending ₹30,000–32,000/month for just a single room, not even a proper 1RK. At one point, he was looking at a tiny, extremely dilapidated room for ₹25,000, right next to a slum. He was already shocked by the condition of the place, but after I showed him my fully furnished 1RK for ₹17,000, he was absolutely stunned and literally had tears in his eyes. Several other friends were equally unhappy with their living conditions and expenses.

Eventually, my friend asked his manager for a transfer to Gurgaon, got it approved, and now he's living in the same building as me. He's much happier.

The biggest difference, though, is the overall quality of life. Now that my friend has experienced both cities, he says Mumbai is significantly dirtier, and it's not limited to a few bad neighbourhoods. Even in relatively upscale areas like Colaba, there was this weird, unpleasant smell everywhere, almost like garbage or dirty drains. The beaches were extremely dirty too. Everywhere he went, he saw old, dilapidated buildings and poorly maintained surroundings. The whole place often felt cramped, dirty and run-down, almost an eyesore. Gurgaon, by comparison, feels much more spacious, cleaner and greener. And if we're comparing Delhi and Mumbai, I'd honestly put Delhi well ahead in these aspects. Delhi has far more greenery, an amazing metro network and much better infrastructure in many areas. You can get around without having to depend on dangerously overcrowded local trains where people risk their lives just getting to work. Delhi NCR isn't perfect either, but the day-to-day experience has been significantly better for both of us.

On top of that, Gurgaon offers significantly more space for your money, better value for food and more affordable healthcare. As a fresh graduate, I can afford a decent home without blowing most of my salary on rent.

I understand Mumbai has its own appeal, opportunities and culture. But Mumbai is ridiculously expensive for what you get, and I feel people romanticise it without considering the reality of living there on a fresher's salary. Tiny, often poorly maintained accommodation at absurd prices, unpleasant surroundings, crowded commutes and very little personal space.

I'm genuinely glad I chose Gurgaon.
