Spec Modern League dominated by utilizing the FREE VALUE of Mine Collapse!
Do not sleep on simply losing a land. It's not that big of a deal in a fast meta.
Discard + draw + recurring threats is a big deal and should be recognized.
[[Mine Collapse]] only offers free value to get rid of some of the formats biggest threats.
Every modern league run with this deck is nearly perfect.

Discussion Value Breakdown: Secret Lair X Star Trek Set Phasers To Superdrop
| Drop Name | Non-Foil Value | Foil Value |
|---|---|---|
| Beam Me Up! | $9.22 | $20.38 |
| KHAAAAAAAAN! | $7.88 | $19.11 |
| Lower Decks! | $22.49 | $39.30 |
| tlhIngan maH! | $14.71 | |
| New Worlds! | $8.42 | $13.14 |
| Bonus Card ($199 Spend) | $1.99 | $2.71 |
*Edit: Seething Song was reprinted as a reskin in an SLD for God of War. TCGPlayer doesn't always show reskins when I search so I apologize for any confusion. Thank you to those that brought it to my attention.
*note: I used Edge of Eternities borderless lands for pricing New Worlds
*note: Thank you GameSpot for the article, used for information
Thoughts: All in all, I think this is a pretty weak superdrop compared with some of the recent drops. I don't like Star Trek, and it seems like little love was given to the value here for it neither.
Lower Decks has the highest NF value, but it's cartoony.
thlIngan maH! has insane foil value, but only driven by Seething Song and War's Toll, which are both limited availability in foil options.
The bonus card is a joke lol... But cute doggo, nice.
What I think will sell out first:
- thlIngan maH! for the foil Seething Song
- All art in that one is reversible and there's some very dramatic changes to the cards which is neat. You can check it out in the GameSpot article.
- New Worlds! for the lands
- People will like it, but for me I'd rather just stick with my EOE lands tbh...
Conclusion: Good luck to everyone on these, and I hope the Value Breakdown helps!
Edit: Realized the New Worlds! has a slight issue where total cards should be 10, not 5. I've updated my code to account for that in the future, but cannot update image here. Whoopsie.
Also I think it will 100% sell out on the basis it might contain a Waste as a bonus card, but knowing WOTC it'll probably be another Knight of the White Orchid to spite us lol...

Spec Star trek cmd specs?
The recently spoiled precon cares about drawing second card. Krang doubles every card draw trigger. Not even a limit per turn like most cards.
Pros - in a sub set that was very unpopular and hard to find and super cheap rn .
Cons - people still hate ninja turtles and unseen if the cmd decks will be popular
Surge conductor adds a counter to each spacecraft when u play another assuming they have counters.
Pros- In a commander precon as only printing. Super cheap could easily be broken in the future.
Cons - uncertain if star trek will be enough to boost it. Also small chance it's in the other precons that haven't been revealed yet.

Question Why hasn’t someone with considerable resources wipe out vintage sealed?
kind of a weird question but I was looking online and see that boxes like Urza’s Legacy and Destiny only have about 4-6 sealed English boxes readily available. I said to myself, wow, If I have the disposable income I’d buy em all. Not to flip, but to hold, since those boxes represent a meaningful time in my life.
but I don’t have those funds. but i imagine someone does, and someone could have a motive (nostalgia, flipping, social media content etc). so why hasn’t somone just wiped them out? or has someone done this before and more product comes to market?
i think it’s more realistic than say buying out whatever Arabian Nights or Antiquities boxes still exist out there, and the foils inside are arguably rarer. just curious.

Alright. The “crash” is starting, what’s on your shopping list?
Lorwyn PBs at sub $100?
Hobbit CBBs at 650, PBs at 120…
What are you waiting to scoop up at a discount to the last year and change, loose or sealed?
There’s a lot of the past 18 months pulling back hard. The 24 months before that still fairly stable (Burrow, OTJ, etc.)

Dishonest Secret Lair Bundle pricing from WoTC
The secret lair reality fracture bundle bundle pricing caught me off guard today when WoTC dropped it on the site at $179.98 (I am in the US). See images, in a WoTC article they clearly articulate that MSRP for the Secret Lair Bundle is $89.99, and the two foil secret lairs they dropped today were each $39.99. The "bundle bundle" from the site clearly just includes those 3 items, no extras. So according to WoTC's own listed prices those 3 items are 89.99+39.99+39.99 which is 169.97 before tax. By listing at $179.98, WoTC is literally up-charging their own customers by $10.01 over their own listed prices, which is a wild move considering any other retailer will usually give you A DISCOUNT for buying multiple of their products over what they would all cost individually. I'm used to WoTC making financial decisions that fly in the face of the welfare of their own long term consumers but this is a new one on the greed scale... Let me know if I'm not looking at this correctly but curious how you all feel about this one.
EDIT: Thanks for all the comments and opinions! I know this is a bit confusing with WoTC weird product names and the pictures so to clarify:
Picture 1 is the FOIL Reality Fracture "bundle bundle" available only through secret lair chaos vault today priced at 179.98. This RF "bundle bundle" is comprised of the RF secret lair bundle + FOIL Strange School SL + FOIL Duality Distorted SL. All three of those items have individual MSRPs which are shown in pictures 2-4.
Picture 2 is an article from WoTC detailing the price of sealed Reality Products including the Reality Fracture Secret Lair Bundle ($89.99 MSRP).
Pictures 3&4 are the prices for the FOIL Strange School SL and Duality Distorted SL (39.99 MSRP each).
My TLDR is if you add up the three MSRPs of the products in the FOIL RF bundle bundle = $89.99+$39.99+$39.99 = $169.97, but WoTC is charging $179.98 while claiming "free shipping". So they are either charging $10.01 for packaging/handling without saying it or sneaking in some extra margin to buy direct from them.
What bothers me the most is not about the amount of upcharge, it's how sneaky they are about it. It's like saying I am selling individual apples for 5$, here is a limited time bundle of three apples just for you with free shipping for 16$ instead of 15$...

Marvel Precons worth holding onto?
I got my hands on some spare Avengers Assemble and Wakanda Forever Costco precons. I was going to return them and refund it but my friend said I should hold it.
Do precons like this usually go up in price even for something with such a large printing like UB and Marvel?

Discussion Shipping has become prohibitively expensive on $50+ orders
Just a little rant but selling anything in the 50-$70 range is almost pointless now. $9 for tracked shipping from where I am. Thats almost 20% gone on a $50 sale in shipping alone. Even at $70 thats 12% of the sale to ship it, not including taxes and fees. What are people doing about this? I dread the idea of turning to facebook to sell locally

Discussion TCG Low vs Market price
I see a lot of first time sellers, and people selling collections are routinely frustrated when they're offered a percentage of tcg low vs market. So I'd like to hear your thoughts on the issue.
When you buy cards to sell, do you base it off of low or market? Why?
What percentage do you buy at, what percentage would you sell at?
For me, I buy cards over $5 at 62% TCG Low. Up to 70% for common staples like fetchlands and triomes. I buy anything from $.5-$5 at 40%, and anything below that is bulk. Occasionally I have someone upset when they see the number because "market price is 12k, why are you only offering $5600?" Well because the low price is 9k.
One example, Rhystic Study from Prophecy has a market price of $64. But there are dozens that are available for under $60. So I wouldn't be able to sell it in a reasonable amount of time unless I also sell under $60. So why would I base my price off the $64?

Potential Spec(s) - Hobbitses, Monsters and My Precious Stones...
These were all purchased between Sept 27th and Oct 24, 2026 from various sources online.
I'll give my reasoning why I chose [set][cards] and then list positions.
Not financial advice I just like great art on 2.5”x3.5” pieces of cardboard.
[Name - # Total Amount/ $$$price per] (includes ship/tax)
(1) Hobbitses, Moles & Stone Paperweights
Looking over both HOB and MSH, I thought to myself, “what would I include in more decks?”. Additionally, we are at the 2ish month mark for “normal” lows for HOB and 4ish months for MSH. Seems like a good time to buy up some spec(s). Again, the floor is low here.
Bilbo’s Gambit with the “gift” mechanic (returning from its debut in BLB) seems like a no-brainer include in any control deck and the downside isn’t that bad.
Bilbo’s Gambit – Foil 13/$1.41 Hold 18 months
I am a huge fan of swiss-army tools and Belladonna Took is a perfect card for the itch. Creating tokens in white is pretty much breathing, so this triggering 3x times a turn is not hard. I can see this taking off for any commander with lifegain synergies, +1/+1 counter strategies or proliferate effects.
Belladonna Took – Showcase 1/$4.74 ; Foil 1/$2.25 Hold 18 months
Again, another card with a Crucible of Worlds effect: Mole Man, Moloid Master… except it has landfall too?!? Oh by the way, that creates tokens with mill effects. How is this cards still 2 bucks? I guess the Universes Beyond skins have a negative effect.
Mole Man, Moloid Master – non-foil 8/$2.05 Hold 9 months
For some reason the infinity stones hit lows over the last few weeks so I took the opportunity to purchase 1x of each as I did not previously own either due to their inflated price tag. I have a feeling that long term these go up with more Marvel sets completing the set and with their respective sets likely not to get massive reprints due to their un-popularity. Maybe they’ll end up in a desk drawer like in Loki...
The Mind Stone – Non-Foil 1/$40.70 Hold 18 months
The Soul Stone – Non-Foil 1/$65.58 Hold 18 months
(2) Godzilla
So, I bought more Godzilla cards…
Based on news of Titanbreach and other reasons I’ve outlines here. I really do think the window is closing on creating a position here.
Babygodzilla, Ruin Reborn – Foil 1/$2.82
Destoyoyah, Perfect Lifeform – Foil 2/$7.21
Mechagodzilla, Battle Fortress – Foil 2/$12.19
(3) Sealed
I didn’t forget sealed this time, as I did begin to add positions to LTR again with the Set Booster Display reprint. I have not heard on any rumors or how much or why they only reprinted Set boxes and not Draft but I’m happy to buy the dip. Look for me to acquire more of these in the next 2 months as they have dipped to $290. Long hold but these double in 2 years, I’m betting on it.
The Lord of the Rings Set Booster Box – 1/$300 Hold 24 months
Lastly, I'll include some pulls I had from FRA while I was on vacation. These were just cards that stood out to me as I reviewed the packs and the set itself.
Titanbones, Towering Heart - This looks like a fun CMDR build around for lifegain and proliferate. Pair with that Restore with Empathy from the same pack! I will be building a new deck soon with this uncommon heading it up.
Gideon the Oathless - I'm going to say something unpopular, I don't like Planeswalkers. I don't mind playing against them, I just hate playing them myself. His ability punishes others with 1 damage to the player when they activate abilities. He also does 1 damage for every creature entering an opponents field so thats neat and very black-pie.
The Lands - These full art foil lands just look amazing this time around. Very steam-punk, future heavy. I have a sneaky suspicion these might increase in value with more "futuristic" sets like Titanbreach, Star Trek, etc. See example: NEO full art lands.

Discussion Star Trek pre-orders: the same Play Booster Box is $124 to $150+ depending on the store. I compared 383 local game stores so you don't have to
Hi all! I run MTG Compare, a free site that compares sealed Magic (booster boxes, bundles, Commander decks, prerelease packs) across independent local game stores. No singles, no accounts, no sign-up.
With Star Trek out on 13 November, I looked at how far apart stores are on the exact same pre-order. Cheapest open pre-order vs the median of the stores taking pre-orders (number of stores in brackets):
| Region | Play Booster Box | Collector Booster Box | Bundle |
|---|---|---|---|
| US | $123.95 vs $149.96 (18) | $449.99 vs $549.97 (9) | $49.99 vs $69.99 (13) |
| Canada | C$194.99 vs C$229.99 (29) | C$649.99 vs C$799.99 (21) | C$79.99 vs C$89.99 (27) |
| UK | £139.90 vs £149.97 (8) | £389.99 vs £409.93 (4) | £49.90 vs £59.97 (6) |
| Australia | A$229.99 vs A$254.00 (15) | A$699.00 vs A$749.00 (13) | A$85.00 vs A$90.98 (14) |
Prices as of 26 October; stores update all the time, so check the live page.
Every store's Star Trek pre-order, by region:
How it works (the part I care about getting right):
- It reads each store's own public listings about twice a day, in that store's currency. No currency conversion: each region only compares stores that charge in its currency.
- Ranked by stock and price only: in stock / open for pre-order first, then cheapest. No store pays to be listed or to rank.
- Every row shows when it was last checked. A store that hasn't answered in 3 days is marked, not guessed.
- Shipping: each store's shipping is measured weekly from its own checkout to a few cities, and there's a "Price + shipping" toggle, because $10 cheaper with $20 shipping isn't cheaper.
- Also: a Back in stock page, Older sets still in stock (LGS often still carry older product), and price per pack.
Disclosure: it's my site. It earns from clearly marked affiliate links (eBay, TCGplayer, Amazon AU) and ads, which never change the order of the stores.
It's still early, so feedback is very welcome: a store near you that's missing, a product filed wrong, anything confusing. I add stores people suggest.
