From my channel. I’ll be posting some unreleased Mr Bungle live audio of shows soon…

The first time I listened to Dead Goon, I thought the title refered to a goon of a mafia boss for example, but then I listened to it and found out it is about an asphyxiophile that dies while masturbating, but then I started to wonder, because 'gooning' wasn't an actual term yet. So, did they create it? Or am I stupid and missing something here?

I need Mr Nice Guy, Platypus and Thunderball in better quality.

The rough mixes tape is so low quality.

I've heard the super mario bros theme was supposed to be on the album too.

We need these recordings.

Was watching Kenneth Anger's 1971 short film Rabbit's Moon and noticed a very similar chanting that was also used by Mike Patton in Goodbye Sober Day and am just curious if anyone knows if there is a connection between the two. Maybe I'm reaching pretty far but they sound pretty similar to me. Chanting starts at around 13:46 mark and ends at about 14:48 for anyone curious https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RWGOggfv2F8

Danny on track 7 & 10, Bär on tracks 11 & 12!

The album has a storyline and is deranged cartoon funk from hell.. Caroliner meets Prince via Ween.
The band also features LaBrea Tar Pits Head from Faxed Head - finally back onstage!

Launch show in Melbourne Australia this Thursday night at Shotkickers.

Fun times at this show in Houston

Idk why but this song just reminds me of retrovertigo. its maybe the chord progression and/or how the song is structured.

This is definitely unrealistic

Don't get me wrong, i liked TWWOTEB, but it didnt feel like a true Mr. Bungle comeback.
So my question is, will there be any new stuff or experimental ones?

Just wanted to show this, glad he's still collaborating with Patton!

Audio is rough https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=WIgJKu0uYP4&t

Listening to this masterpiece for the first time in ages.

I think when you're a teenager you don't really branch your taste outside of metal or rock, and stick to the Avant Garde and experimental within that genre.

Fast forward to me aged 34, I absolutely adore exploring older genres, especially jazz and vocal jazz. I've got more of an appreciation for California now.

Going track by track, would it be possible to get a list of all the influences on the album. The various styles play and then make a playlist?

I remember the wiki for Radio by Naked City had some of linear notes listed with the influences on there and that would have made a good playlist. I think it would be good to do something like that for California. Itd be like a journey through 19th century music.

The only other time I got this obsessed was with Smile by the Beach Boys, and trying to pin down the Influences and going from Copland to Marty Robbins to jazz songs.
