While reading in my room this sweet moth fluttered right by me! I’m not sure how it got in my room or when, but it’s so cute to me!
I’m curious what type of moth it is?
Can I build it an enclosure and keep it?
I know they don’t live long, and if it would be happier outside for its short life then i’d love to have it be happy!
If it would thrive in a warm house with a mesh enclosure i’d be happy to build it one!

Edit for location: Near Vancouver, Canada!

ID Request Interesting moth I found

I had to brighten the image. This was in Florida. I thought this moth was very interesting. It appears to have triangles at the bottom I think. They were so adorable. Surprisingly big because normally moths in my house are small.

ID Request Moth?

Solved: Metaxaglaea viatica
Originally I didn’t see the faint kidney bean outline on the middle of the forewing. The zig-zag pattern at the bottom of the wing also looks like a perfect match. Thanks for the help!

Original Post
Columbus, OH. USA
Night of Oct 26 2026
On glass under overhead outdoor lamp. Roughly 50F.
Approximately 1.25inch head to wing tip, roughly 1in wide.
Copper and tawny color, head appeared quite orange. Wings do not appear to overlap severely when at rest.

Didn’t see it move at all, but didn’t appear injured. Only saw this single individual. Checked the ODNR site for common moths, the closest one I found was a “bronzed cutworm moth”. However, it didn’t appear that fluffy at the head or shoulder, the wing edges also did not appear fuzzy like some examples.

Thanks for the help! It’s a very interesting moth, I just can’t figure out what it is.

Photo Its unusual name comes from its caterpillar, which can look like a miniature elephant's trunk. Combined with its large eyespots, it can make itself look much bigger in an effort to help deter predators 👀

Welp I didn't expect to have a little moth at this time of the year... A little Autographa gamma found against the window of my bathroom! :) So I just opened the window, and it managed to go. I hope it will find a good place for winter, because I don't want it to have any issues with some anti-bug treatments we tend to have in home. But at least it's free and out of danger

Enjoy the cutie!! 🤎

What moth is this? What's up with the broken wings? Is it a predator bite or disease or a pattern?

General Question How should I care for moth eggs?

First time poster here. I had an Imperial moth lay some eggs by my front door, but I'm afraid maintenance might destroy the eggs when they clean the walls. I've never cared for moth eggs before but I don't want them destroyed. I'd appreciate any advice on how to care for them until they hatch and can be safely released.

She landed on my chin then decided to sit on my mouth for twenty minutes yesterday and would get angry whenever I tried to take her off, and my friend said it looked like the silence of the lambs poster so I took a picture, went on ibis paint and did my best! I know it’s not incredible but it was just a bit of fun and I wanted to share

Argentina. I saw it fluttering about on the concrete, so I moved it to the side to keep anyone from stepping on it. Sadly, by the time I was able to return, it was already dead. I suppose it was in its final days; it kept moving its wings, but it couldn't fly, and it barely moved its legs.

Found this guy attempting to camouflage against my doorframe this morning when I was leaving. Unfortunately only had time for 1 pic. Google Lens is giving me a pest moth in Australia so that doesn't seem quite right..

General Question Hummingbird moth caterpillar?

Please correct my id if I’m wrong too!

My neighbor found this guy in his warehouse at work and brought him home to me because I raise monarchs (not a pro, first year). But I live in Michigan and from what I’ve read, they’re about to overwinter. I don’t want to disrupt that…
What should I do? I’m prepared to raise him inside or should I release him in hopes that he can find somewhere quickly?
Super new at this, please be kind! Also a huge empath and sometimes I know that gets me in trouble haha.
