AskMorocco For those who own a car in Morocco, how much does it actually cost you?

• Upvotes

Salam everyone!

I've been wondering for a while about the financial side of owning a car in Morocco, especially for people earning an average Moroccan salary.

I'm curious about the real costs beyond just buying the car. Things like fuel, insurance, taxes, maintenance, repairs, parking, and loan payments if applicable. And more importantly, can you actually use the car as often as you would like to, or do you feel restricted

For those of you who own a car, I'd love to hear about your experience:

  • What city do you live in, and what car do you drive?
  • Roughly how much do you earn per month, if you're comfortable sharing?
  • How much do you spend on your car in an average month, including expenses that you only pay once or twice a year?
  • Does owning a car put a significant strain on your finances, or is it manageable?
  • Do you use your car regularly, or does it spend several days a week parked?
  • If you could earn some extra money from your car when you're not using it, would you consider it? What would make you hesitant?

I'm especially interested in hearing from people who bought a car with their own salary rather than having it paid for by their family.

I'm not looking for exact figures if you're not comfortable sharing. Even rough estimates and personal experiences would be really helpful.

Thanks!

Travel Oukaimeden is finally getting a multi-season upgrade ! Great news for Moroccan winter sports 🏂❄️

Sawrt had l-panneau f Oukaïmeden. It looks like Phase I of the official restructuring project is underway to turn it into a 4-season leisure destination. Really exciting to see investment going into Moroccan mountain infrastructure!

(By the way, as an a developer, seeing this actually inspired me to build a winter sports & snow-tracking app for our mountains!)

What do you guys think? Do you still visit Oukaïmeden during the snow season, or do you prefer other spots

Question about chiffre d’affaires for Moroccan auto-entrepreneurs
Hi everyone. I’m an auto-entrepreneur in Morocco providing teaching services, and I need clarification on what I should declare as my chiffre d’affaires encaissé.
Suppose I issue an invoice with the following amounts:
15,000 DH for teaching services
150 DH added by my client to cover my 1% auto-entrepreneur income tax
300 DH added by my client to cover my CNSS contribution
Total invoiced and received: 15,450 DH.
All three amounts appear on the same invoice, and I receive the full amount in my business bank account.
Should I declare the full 15,450 DH as my chiffre d’affaires, or only the 15,000 DH for my teaching services?
In particular, are the additional 150 DH for income tax and 300 DH for CNSS necessarily included in taxable turnover, or can either be excluded if they are clearly identified on the invoice?

AskMorocco How can I get a Master of Public Health recognised in Germany?

• Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I have a Master degree titled “Master en santé publique” and would like to use it to work in Germany.

Has anyone been through the recognition or assessment process for a similar qualification? Is a Statement of Comparability from ZAB sufficient, or would I need to contact another authority because the degree is health-related? Does it depend on the job I’m applying for?

I’d appreciate any experiences with the process, required documents, and processing times.

Thanks!

Discussion Notice periods in Morocco are INSANE

wdym 2 months if i have a little over one year at the company (as cadre)!!? i'm not that important!! 2 weeks is more than enough for everyone even for executive level roles. It's seriously time they update the notice periods in the law. i now feel forced to resign before the year is over so that i wouldn't have to stay an extra month.

Travel What to Except Traveling to Morocco

Hello everyone. I’m a 31 year old male thinking of traveling to Casablanca and Marrakech for about 12 days from the US in December. It will be a solo trip.

I’m a Muslim and I’m primarily interested in visiting some of the mosques, learn a bit about the history and culture, and just find time to relax at a cafe or something and people watch.

What can I expect as a solo traveler with my background. What are somethings I should be mindful or careful off.

Education Medschool and Anki in morocco

Hey everyone,
I’m currently a 3rd-year medical student doing my clinical rotations. I’m transitioning to using Anki for my clinical modules (sémiologie, patho, pneumo, etc.) and was wondering how other Moroccan med students handle this, since it is a lot of work to create your own cards and i also have a pretty active everyday life i may not be able to find the time to do so ever.
Since a lot of our lectures are very specific to our faculties and CHUs, do you guys build everything from scratch using Image Occlusion, or are there community Google Drives, Discord servers, or shared decks for Moroccan medical students and better if special to a faculty !

Any tips, links, or shared resources would be hugely appreciated. Thanks in advance!

AskMorocco Should I buy a house in Morocco or keep my financial freedom?

Hi everyone,

I'm currently facing a bit of a dilemma and would appreciate some outside perspectives.

I'm 26 years old, and my family has been encouraging me to buy a house. We recently found what seems like a decent deal in Rabat. It's an older house that needs renovation, so the plan would be for me to take out a mortgage to purchase it, while my family would help cover the renovation costs.

For context, I've been working in the public sector for a little over two years now, earning around 10,000 MAD per month, plus approximately 12,000 MAD in annual bonuses. I also have around 70,000 MAD in savings.

Here's where I'm hesitant: I'm considering changing jobs within the next three years, possibly even sooner if a good opportunity comes along. I'm worried that taking on a mortgage at this stage of my life would tie me down and limit my ability to pursue opportunities elsewhere, whether in another city or even abroad.

On the other hand, I know that owning a house at my age could be a great long-term investment, especially with my family's willingness to help with the renovations.

I guess my biggest fear is sacrificing my flexibility and financial freedom too early, especially when I'm not entirely sure where my career will take me.

Am I overthinking this, or are my concerns justified? Should I just ntwakal 3la Allah and go for it?

I'd really appreciate hearing from people who've been in a similar situation, especially those who bought property young or had to balance homeownership with career opportunities.

Also, if anyone has advice or experience with government assistance programs for first-time homebuyers in Morocco, particularly for purchasing older properties, I'd love to hear about it. Any tips on financial aid, subsidized loans, or other benefits I might be eligible for would be greatly appreciated.
