Rant | Хуурай агсам Mongolia will never develop.
I need to rant about this or else I’ll explode!
It's late October and the city's winter transport problem is already here. Look at any local news post right now and the comments are full of the same story: people stuck in the cold at stops, buses so crammed you can't breathe, and no real answers from the city. I was walking for an hour and then waited for the bus for such a long time I ended up having to take a taxi. My feet was freezing even though I’m already wearing winter boots I can’t imagine what it’s like for others who have to live without heating.
The deeper problem is that this is what happens when a city grows for 30+ years with no real planning. Everyone moved in, construction went up with no infrastructure to match, and now we're all paying for it every single winter, in -30°C, standing at a stop wondering if the next bus will even come. When the same problem returns every year and the fix is always "more buses," it stops looking like bad luck and starts looking like people not doing their jobs, or worse, not being held accountable for the money.
Every citizen deserve transparency: how many buses are actually running? Where the budget goes? who decides the routes?? and why drivers are leaving. We shouldn't be treated like cattle.
Anyone else dealing with this? What's your commute like right now?

Younger people need way better financial and political literacy to understand how the system really works. We have to start holding leaders accountable. These corrupt higher ups pockets all the money, and even with solid proof, the system lets them off easy. They get fired, walk away and live comfortably off stolen money while doing zero work.

We really do need a rapid transit system and maybe all this harsh enforcement of traffic laws in recent months would make that possible. One of the main issues with a dedicated bus lane aside from space is the fact that those lanes will be full of өлөн drivers.

The only plausible solution I can think of is stop the mass migration to the capital. We need to develop province centers as fast as possible to stop people moving to the UB. UB is hopeless now, because the infrastructure is long gone to be fixed.

The cold truth nobody wants to hear: more buses just means a longer line of buses stuck in traffic.
A city of 1.5 million cannot treat street parking like free storage. In every major developed city, downtown parking is expensive and has strict 1-to-2 hour time limits to keep traffic flowing. We don't need to invent anything new—just copy the rules that already work worldwide.
And the outrage whenever towing companies remove illegally parked cars makes no sense. Tow drivers are literally clearing the roads so public transit can move. When Bat-Uül tried implementing real structural changes and enforcing bus lanes, people fought it. If residents want a functional city, they have to accept basic urban traffic enforcement. You cannot have zero parking rules, free spots everywhere, angry drivers blaming tow trucks, and still expect buses to run on time.

Singapore’s journey into automated and smart traffic management began decades ago. I remember living in Singapore back in 2011 and smooth sailing on roadways was reality.
Mongolia could have imported that knowledge/tech, had it at a discount being a developing nation. Did it bother? No, why not?

Because a smart traffic management system or whatever is not gonna fix the problems caused by shitty infrastructure and bad city planning.

Have you ever seen one side of the road fully blocked while the other side remains open and free with human traffic controllers coordinating flow?
Balancing flow between both sides of the road is where a smart traffic management system excels to keep as many vehicles moving and accelerating.

I take a bike to my destination, and whether it snows, rains or hell opens up from the sky. I will get on my bike, slowly slip to my destination, irregardless of how short or long it takes.
also, there is transparancy https://shilendans.gov.mn/
I don't know if it reports on how many busses there are but it certainly takes account of how much and where the budget comes and goes to .

well regardless, my advice is to take a bike everywhere bro.
From Nisekh to Tavan bogd
from Tavan shar to Officer
From Khoroolol to River GardenYou can genuinely bike anywhere in this city if you are determined enough irregardless of the climate, temperature or amount of cars or pedastrians cause the greatest benefit and most unfortunate fact of UB is that its a tiny city compared to its total size.
So you won't be living in American city where you'd have to get in a car and drive 30-50km on the daily for your work or smth.

As much as i hate the current situation, we are indeed developing in net positive. Look at how it was 10 years ago and now. We have warm, reliable buses, infrastructure -- like for me, there wasn't street lights in my area at night and all were dirt road and now it's more comfortable.

This deserves to be at the top.
Yeah, there are negatives BUT it's still better than what it was 10 years ago.
We can look where busses are going and doesn't ALWAYS have to the bus card (sometimes unreliable but whatever).

Just wait till those oldies die out and we are good. If not then let smart ones grow up then we are good. If younger ones becomes like the oldies then we are fucked.

We are all tired of waiting for someone to do something. The people in charge don’t have to take a bus so they’ll never fix a problem that doesn’t concern them.

Because oldies defend their political figures like their lives depend on them, so it is not easy to penetrate through that barrier. If all youngsters aren't coming together, then how do we overcome that? Young people dont even vote, then have the audacity to talk about the societal problems. You guys honestly deserve what you are going through. You can criticize and talk all you want but you need to do the only thing that matters the most.

Hahah, yeah..
I my view it is the people we vote in, the decision makers a lot of people vote for feeling or vibe, or a kg of flour or straight up cash
I mean, if i was running for office i wont illustrate a grand plan to fix the roads or, some dumb shit like that it is better to just distribute stuff are accuse politicians or start insulting OT, that works every time
