Good day everybody! I hope you’re all doing well. I highly encourage all the newcomers and veterans of r/medschoolph to engage in the posts below before posting your question to our subreddit.

Of course, take everything with a grain of salt, but I really do believe that this subreddit can be a really great resource for aspiring Filipino doctors to make more educated decisions about their future—especially if they don’t have access to this type of information otherwise.

The main FAQ post is still linked here of course! (credit to u/bananabread909 <3) Again, please read through it before making a post on this subreddit.

Recent PLE passer here and got accepted in my dream residency program. I’m just sad na wala man lang celebration for me. Mahirap kami I know pero kahit isang beses man lang sana magtravel kami ng family ko to a local beach or smth bago ialay ko ang rest of my 20s sa pagkaalipin sa hospital. Pero wala eh. I won’t be quitting naman pero nalulungkot lang talaga ako na I can’t even properly celebrate my wins since graduation kasi wala rin naman akong pera. Tapos may thoughts pa na my parents are not getting any younger (my dad is 65). Hayst ang hirap naman ng med akala ko mas madali na life after grad haha

Praying and hoping na lang talaga for better days ahead 🙏

🗣 Discussion Voiding quizzes/exams because absent sa lecture?

• Upvotes

Just want to ask if ganito rin ba sa ibang med schools?

Marami sa batch namin pinipili umabsent sa lectures to study for an exam to be taken on the same day. But our admin became stricter. They decided to implement na fr yung rule na if aabsent ka, either di ka makakapag take or ivovoid yung exam mo. For me, tao lang din naman kami hindi robots 😭 We all have different learning styles as well!

We are expected to listen to lectures the whole morning habang may shifting exam (like not quizzes lang ha! exam as in 65% ng grado exam!) na naghihintay after lunch.

Minsan pa nga nagpapatawag for recitation yung mga dokies and expect us to read the new material before entering class that day (AGAIN, knowing na may exam that same day sa previous lessons) And boy do these doctors love to read what’s already in their powerpoints. So helpful ah!

Dagdag mo pa na halos 7 to 7 yung schedule araw-araw monday to saturday. Yes, we have to attend lectures after the exam and bawal umabsent! Kasi ma vovoid yung exam na tinake 🙃 Dagdag stress pa traffic pauwi. Pili ka nalang kung yung 20 chapters coverage o tulog aatupagin mo.

The worst part is, the cycle repeats EVERYDAY. Intense studying every night —> Di makikinig sa morning lectures kasi mag aaral + paswertehan nalang sa bunot ng recitation —> Exam —> Lectures hanggang 7pm —> Traffic —> Aral —> Repeat!

Nakakasuka na. The only break in a week: saturday night tapos bakbakan ulit.

I mean ideally that would be great!

Maybe some would think this is the norm for med students. Pero really? Is this still healthy? Sobrang burnt out ko na po. Di ka romanromanticize tomg ganito. O baka OA lang kami as a batch? nyahaha

Okay my pomodoro break is done balik na po ulit sa aral. Might delete later. Call me a little bitch for ranting pero shet pagod na ako.

Hi, everyone! 👋

FREE CONSULTATION AND QUICK DEMO SESSION ‼️🙌

Ever spent hours studying a topic but still felt like you didn’t fully understand it? Or memorized so many facts for an exam, only to forget them when answering practice questions? 😭📚

You’re not alone!
Medicine can be overwhelming, but studying doesn’t always have to mean memorizing endless pages of information.

I’m a Physician and Registered Nurse, a PLE passer, and an AMC Part 1 passer, and I’m offering one-on-one online tutoring and personalized review sessions for medical students and PLE takers for past decade.

📚 How I can help you

🧠 Understand, Don’t Just Memorize
Break down complicated medical concepts into simpler, step-by-step explanations that actually make sense.

🎯 High-Yield Exam Preparation
Focus on essential concepts, commonly tested principles, and frequently confused topics.

❓ MCQs With Rationales
Practice board-style questions and understand not only why the correct answer is right, but also why the other choices are wrong.

💡 Mnemonics(WACKY AND FUNNY)& Memory Aids(Memory Palace!)
Make difficult topics easier to recall, especially when exam day approaches.

🩺 Personalized One-on-One Sessions
Whether you’re preparing for an upcoming departmental exam, struggling with a particular subject, or reviewing for the PLE, we can focus on your specific needs and learning pace.

Just tell me your year level, the subject you need help with, and what you’re preparing for. We can discuss your learning goals and how I can help.
No need to struggle through every difficult topic alone. Let’s make those confusing concepts click! 💙

❓Asking for Help questions for asmph students!

hi, my first choice talaga is asmph kasi gusto ko talaga curriculum nila. i know a lot of people in asmph ngayon kasi atenista ako, pero most if not all of them are... basta sabihin natin mas angat sila sa akin sjwjsjwksj

i just wanted to ask anyone dito na mga middle class na saks lang talaga budget for asmph. familiar ako na may tg system ang asmph and i see my seniors na palaging lunch out o gumagala, minsan out of town pa gala nila huhu. i'm very introverted, so i'm worried 'di ako makakasabay :( importante pa support system sa med huhu

anyway ito po questions ko

  1. do you ever feel left out of ur tg? i just want to know ur personal experiences.......

  2. keri ba ang commute? im from cubao— parang ok lang naman but um. nagcommute ako via mrt noong internship ko ibang level talaga ang mrt kaysa lrt 😂

Is this med school from Nueva Ecija accredited? I heard its pioneer batch hasn’t graduated yet, but some of their students are reportedly in PGIship without diplomas. How is that even possible? Is that even allowed?

📚PLE Neurology Residency: EAMC vs. QMMC — Experiences, Training, and Work-Life Balance

Hello, doctors! As a first gen doctor.
I’m considering applying for **Neurology residency at East Avenue Medical Center (EAMC) or Quirino Memorial Medical Center (QMMC)**, and I would really appreciate hearing from current residents, graduates, or anyone familiar with either program.
I would love to hear your insights regarding the following:
**Training:** How is the quality of training, case exposure, teaching, and consultant support in both institutions?
**Salary and benefits:** How much is the monthly salary, including benefits and allowances, if any?
**Work-life balance:** How heavy is the workload? Is it manageable, and how are the duty schedules?
**Application process:** Do either of these hospitals accept midyear applicants? If so, when do applications usually open?
**Acceptance chances:** I recently passed the PLE with an **85% rating and a class rank included in the Top 20**. Do you think I have a reasonable chance of being accepted into either program? What other factors do they usually consider during the application process?
I would be grateful for any advice, personal experiences, or recommendations that could help me decide which program would be a better fit.
Thank you so much, doctors! Any insights would be greatly appreciated. 🙏🏻

Career options

Good day docs! Ako po ay 31F 2025 graduate and nag 1 year moonlight po. Now nag apply as pre-res sa GS (first love po ang GS) at parang im slowly realizing na maybe hospital residency isnt for me. Baka dala na rin sa pagod at age etc, di ko pa rin sure sa sarili ko

Inisip ko po mag shift tracks and do a shorter residency (peds, IM, psych) but interest ko talaga is OR, di ko alam if mapipilit ko sarili ko to do something di buo ang loob ko.

Anyway, ano pa po kaya ang career options for GPs ? May stigma pa rin kasi pag GP na nag moonlight lang sa mga clinic, baka may ibang field of work that can be both fulfilling and not frowned upon

Thank you po for your suggestions!
