Light MBTI Discussion MBTI Makes People Act More Like Their Stereotypes

I've taken the MBTI test several times, and my results keep changing, especially between T and F. Even AI gave me completely opposite answers depending on how I described myself.

I find it strange how some people explain their behavior through MBTI, like "I act this way because I'm a T

But people are complicated. Sometimes I plan everything, other times I'm spontaneous. I love socializing, but I also enjoy being alone

I feel like some people become so attached to their MBTI type that they start acting according to its stereotypes

MBTI can be fun, but I think we sometimes take those four letters too seriously and forget to just be ourselves

MBTI Meme REAL INFJs that Stereotype Pages won't show you (Post #4)

So if U remember Last time I made post on Mistyped INFJs, Golden Pairs and etc.

Here What I think actual INFJ, in ni ti loop 5wX even maybe 4wX who knows might look like. And those MBTI communities who rely on 16p and other stereotypes try not to show the real side of INFJ.

As you know, we INFJ dont like attention and we re surely not harmony people, we actually coul tell person truth that imrpoves them in non mean way and what actually makes logical sense, but tht does not mean like mistyped u see online we will comfort everyone with feelings, Instead we would choose truth that could improve their future Ni (atleast what I would).

Anyways what do you think?

Light MBTI Discussion What are your parents’ types, and how does that impact your own presentation?

NOT LOOKING FOR ADVICE— I just figured I’d start with my own answer to the question first.

I have an INFP mother whom I spent most of my childhood with, and later on got an ESFJ narcissist stepfather. (The Fe-Fi combo is about as productive as you’d think.)

As an ISTP female, I always just assumed my overly Fe-esque communication style was a product of socialization alone. So I’ve ended up in this weird places where some other thinkers see me as a feeler (usually other Ti doms can still tell tho), but feelers still SOMEHOW see me as cold and harsh no matter how hard I try. People only see the gentle façade, but they don’t see how much it drains me. It’s still a strain and still unnatural, but I do it anyway almost compulsively. I’ve spent years now trying to unlearn it.

I’m really curious about how upbringing impacts the presentation of type. After all… any child, regardless of type, is going to tailor their behaviors to gain the approval of their caregivers. And I think this follows us into adulthood just like any other reinforced childhood habit would.

So! Please share your experiences in as much or little detail as you wish (:

Survey / Poll / Question Which MBTI type would be most likely to projects themselves into the future and forget about the present?

Would this be INTJ since Se is an inferior function, or would that actually be Ne used to anticipate every future scenario?

Personal Advice What is the easiest and most direct way to type someone?

I have a partner, and I can’t figure out whether he have a Ti-Se ego or a Si-Te ego. I can’t even quite grasp whether he is an extrovert or an introvert. My best guess is that he is a Beta ST.

Light MBTI Discussion I'm still confused about Ni?

Hello everyone!, I'm not really new to mbti anymore since I have been exposed to it for already a long period of time likely the time where I was just researching for fun until I discovered it, and I was still wondering about how does Ni really work?, what are the signs you might have Ni not only the common signs but subtle ones too, and also how does Ni operate and how it makes effects on people who possess it? I'm also confused about what's the difference of Dominant and Axuiliary Ni?, also how to know of its probably Ni not Ne and Si and even Ti, lastly but not the least how to be surely accurate that you're Intuitive or Sensor not just masking?

Light MBTI Discussion I am ENTP but I seemed to act different a kid

After coming to terms with myself and realize I’m an ENTP, I can’t help but wonder why I acted different as a child. Before my adolescence, I seemed more like a stereotypical xSFJ or xNFP type, since i was the shy innocent kid who was prone to getting bullied and cries a lot. I do believe I always had strong Ne since I always had a plethora of what-ifs and alternate universes in my mind. I loved generating ideas in group projects and wouldn’t shut up about my business ideas.

When I became a teenager, my Ti became evident with a weak Fe and Si. This is when my angsty phase came in. I started questioning the beliefs i was born into and started acting differently from my baby self. I was quite rebellious when it came to conformity but i didnt really break rules in school.

When I found out about mbti, I took the forbidden quiz and got INTP. After that, I felt like it just wasn’t me because I am emotional (at the time i didnt know Thinker types had Feeling functions) so I started larping INFJ. I thought I was INFJ for years that I even forced a calm wise sage persona. It wasn’t until recently, I actually stopped overthinking the functions and just became honest with myself. I realized I am an ENTP that can get emotional because just like every other human, I am capable of feeling and reacting to emotions.

Still wondering why I acted different as a kiddo.

Light MBTI Discussion How to distinguish within a quadra?

When we grow up we tend to develop the other functions, sometimes also because we've spent so many years in loops/grips. How do we distinguish the types when typing then?

My example but I'm interested in the theory in general:

I could have been labelled entj but I don't resonate much with an underdeveloped Fi, I've been years in a depressive grip and went to therapy and fixed a lot, aka my world is not just ruthless Te.

I also have been wondering about ESFP too since I tend to become doom-minded and have OCD, but that could also be an overused Ni.

In particular Se-Te Vs Te-Se loops are pretty tricky to discern.

Also I'm 954 so I tend towards Ni and Fi too.

So basically I just know the quadra.

What's the main path to follow? What to consider?

Survey / Poll / Question Why does there seem to be so much confusion between the XYYX shape types?

Let me explain. I know that sites like pdb are generally unreliable, because of stereotypes blah blah. However, even on Reddit, I get the impression that this thing sometimes happens.Basically, I often see people debating whether X is an INFJ or ISFP, or whether Y is an ENTJ or ESTP, INTJ or ISTP. (Like for Katniss for famous example).

So every time it's XNFX -XSFX, or XNTX-XSTX..

INFJ -ISFP

INFP ISFJ

ENTJ ESTP

ENTP ESTJ

INTP ISTJ

INTJ Istp

However, this does not seem to concern the ESFJ ENFP combination at all, nor ENFJ ESFP. .

If we take infj-isfp for example

We have NI FE TI SE and FI SE NI TE. So the share two functions but why it's so often those one. I know many will probably tell me that instinct is misunderstood by sensory people, and they are the majority... But even this explanation seems strange to me...

Thanks

Light MBTI Discussion mbti beige flags

alright INFJs I think I discovered your beige flag- you take a long time to decide what youre gonna eat. not if youre at a restaurant, youre ready to order and dont make a big fuss. but if your group runs into a food court you'll probably be the last to find a place. and last to order at the counter. its not like you struggle or stress over it, you just ponder about in this particular instance. idk if this is true, I just noticed in my own life a couple of friends and family do this and then realized they're infj. now im watching a show and the infj character did the same thing and I kinda wondered if y'all notice you take more time to pick your meal or if that was just a coincidence

anyways this inspired me to ask y'all if you have noticed other random things with certain types, that aren't good or bad, just kinda random, but you think might actually have to do with their cognitive process relating to mbti

☺️🫶🏻

Celebrity/Character Wanted to try my hand at typing some of the characters from Kill la Kill

I'm watching Kill la Kill again and realized I have some thoughts on character types that differ from typings I've seen for them. This time I'll leave out what those typnigs were and just say what I think for a few characters:

Ryuko first because I feel most strongly about this one. I think she's ESTP. When I think about it, she has an ExTP way of approaching things. She shows a pretty decent balance between Fe and Ti while leaning further away from Fe (the one that's more obvious in observation, imo). For me, ExTPs have a sort of distinctness in practice. And of Ne and Se, Se sure seems most accurate. She's very adaptive while not necessarily having a vivid imagination.

Secondly I'll add Gamagori because I feel surprisingly strongly about this one. He's very high strung, so the first assumption would be ESTJ, but I think ISTJ actually fits him better. I don't get a great sense from him that he's Te first, but Te second fits surprisingly well, imo. The high strung manager archetype is thought to be ESTJ, but I disagree. Or I'll chance it at least.

My guess for Mako is xNFP, and I'm actually leaning INFP. Somehow it just seems more accurate. Not sure.

Satsuki could be ENTJ or INTJ, but I guess INTJ is more likely. Ragyo seems ExTJ, not 100% sure between ENTJ and ESTJ. Nui Harime seems ExFP, leaning... ESFP I guess.

I want to say Jakuzure is an xSFP, leaning ISFP. Sanageyama seems like a xxTP, leaning ExTP again, not certain between Ne or Se but leaning Ne actually (maybe I'm wrong). Inumuta seems IxTP, leaning INTP.

If I had to try typing the Nudist Beach guys as well, I'd say ExTP again for Mikusugi (the teacher guy), leaning ENTP, and ISTP for Tsumugu (motorcycle mohawk guy).

So in summary:

Ryuko: ESTP

Mako: xNFP

Satsuki: INTJ

Ragyo: ExTJ

Nui: ExFP

Gamagori: ISTJ

Jakuzure: xSFP

Sanageyama: ExTP

Inumuta: INTP

Mikusugi: ENTP

Tsumugu: ISTP

There, that's my submission I guess. I added more than I had intended to. ^^ Anyone feel free to fight me on any of these in the comments since they are guesses. But how close/accurate do they seem?

Light MBTI Discussion Do male XXTX prefer thinkers?

I just had this thought, while I am not fixated on particular type, I have made up my mind, that I will only date a thinker. It's extremely difficult for me to navigate with feelers. However, till date all men who were interested in me were Fs. I do think people in general are drawn to qualities/traits they don't have. So it made me wonder that thinkers may also prefer a feeler partner?

Light MBTI Discussion ENFPS and introverts

I've never been a massive believer when it comes to Myers-Briggs or my own personality type, but as a deep introvert I've always found the deepest connection with ENFP types. Extraverts usually overwhelm me and I'm a newbie to understanding the functions, so I'm curious whether -- or why -- this type of extravert doesn't exhaust me the way others do. could someone with knowledge and understanding help clarify it?

Light MBTI Discussion Telling the difference between mental health conditions and function arrangement

Sometimes i cant tell which traits are a part of cognition or just learned behaviors. Like hypervigilance being close to se-like behaviors, or overthinking and people pleasing with intuition or feeling functions, categorical thinking with thinking, etc.

Does anyone else have experience with this or how to differentiate? Like I feel like i fit all the functions except dom ti in my current understanding of my stack, but idk if it means I'm mistyped or just taking behaviors at face value

Like inferior fe usually looks like the opposite of people pleasing in most descriptions except for grip states, and also is occasionally said to be unrelated. Or dom ti making systems for everything/deciding, sorting, or rejecting info from the outer world

Light MBTI Discussion What table are you picking?

Say you're wanting to take a seat on one of the four tables

Table 1: INTP, ENTP, ISFJ, ESFJ Table 2: INFP, ENFP, ISTJ, ESTJ Table 3: INTJ, ENTJ, ISFP, ESFP Table 4: INFJ, ENFJ, ISTP, ESTP

Where would you choose to sit?

Deep Theory Analysis Learning and MBTI functions

Am I correct to assume that as we age, extraverted functions like Se and Ne are increasingly suppressed to the point that educators have to remind us that in order to learn better we should 'keep' an open mind, reawaken that child within, rekindle the old fascinations?

Am I right to assume that open-mindedness is more associated with Se and Ne, the first being highly connected to momentary sensory experience and the latter being an idea generator looking for new possibilities and welcoming new angles into an otherwise closed topic?

As we age and become adults, it seems we are expected to be more decisive. To be more decisive, we already need to have an idea of how the world works -- which comes from our pre-adulthood exploration phase coming out of extraverted intuition and sensing -- and then act upon a philosophy abstracted from them. That could mean a move away from perceptive to a more judging phase.

By this I could assume the P types are considered less mature and unworldly by a general social image and J types as more mature and grounded, more fit for the adult world. P types seem to fit more in a nascent stage of a civilization or an enterprise where sun is shining and ideas come to emerge and enough energy is there to execute experimental projects, or, in other words, there is only future ahead of them. The J types, however, seem to be among those who have already reached a mature state of an undertaking, no longer 'opening up' to new dimensions and rather stay the course. At different times, different types shine of course. Is it correct to assume that J types look for lessons more in the past?

I'm an INTP btw. Feel free to share your thoughts

Survey / Poll / Question What's your type, which type do you attract the most and which type are you the most attracted to?

I'm ENFP 2w1.

Types I've attracted were: INTJs, INFJs, INTPs, INFPs, and an ISFJ. I think I attract INxJs the most.

Types I'm attracted to are: ESTPs and ENTPs. Attracted to ESTPs the most.

Like I rarely have crushes on others for their MBTI types because I feel like it's too shallow but most of my crushes were ESTPs when I type them (5 crushes, 3 out of them being ESTPs) so yeah :3
